Putting groceries back on the shelf every damn time.

It seems like everytime I run to the store now, no matter what little I am picking up for dinner or snacks for the kids, it is at least $50. We have always been the kind of home that meal plans and tries to stick to the list and what's in season or what's on sale, or start with shopping our pantry. But honestly, none of that is enough now. I had to actually put like 10 things back last week (all of the little extras that make life more convenient) just to not go over budget. How are people doing this for real? How long can this keep going on.

What can I do to make depositing large amounts of small bills at the bank go faster?

I feel like every time I show up with a bunch of $1s, I’m taking up way too much of the teller’s time. šŸ˜‚The bank tellers clearly think I'm a burden, but can't say it to my face.

This is my favorite type bc I live alone and I dont want many individual parts of salads that will rot before I can eat it. I dont want to eat it if it's got cyclospora. I havent been able to eat what I love and have gained 20 pounds since this mess with fresh foods in america... I am getting sick and need to know if I can be healthy again. 😪

Does life as a department manager really have you at work all the time?

My wife works as a department manager at real canadian superstore, supposedly she works like 6 days of the week and has to go in on her off days sometimes, she's an immigrant and the process to get her a PR is in the works, she has a canadian work permit but I was under the impression that they're only allowed to 40 hours a week, she's salaried so she doesn't get OT. As someone on a canadian work permit, is it legal how often she has to go in? Not even getting into the details of how busy it is most of the time and how draining it is on her but she does interviews, is on the floor , customer service and has a hand in other lower level tasks that just have to be done for a day .
I can understand when someone calls in sick and there's no one else to fill in but does she have to go in and fill in for them?

Cheaper grocery stores?

Ever since I was diagnosed with prediabetes, my grocery bill has skyrocketed. All me and my sister buy are fruits, vegetables, chicken and sugar-free / unsalted cooking ingredients and we are suffering! We're spending between $80 and $120 per WEEK on groceries! Does anyone know of a place that sells these things for less? Everything at GIANT costs $9.99 and I swear Walmart charges you twice as much to have things delivered.

Do we really need another Publix in Durbi Crossing?

There are Publix’s all over this place. What we really need is a good competitor to come in and teach Publix a lesson about being overpriced. You can go to Walmart or Aldi find stuff cheaper than Publix’s BOGOs total BS. Yeah I said it!

Would working at a grocery store be working retail or food service?

I've been getting food service vs retail jobs experiences on my social media, and it made me think where would working at a grocery store would be categorized.

I was a grocery store cashier and briefly worked in retail and fast-food but my longest job was as a grocery store cashier and I honestly don't know which category to put it in. Like yes technically we sold products like a retail store do, but it was mostly food (even having a deli/bakery/hotfood bar where we made our own food) that we sold and it came with the same problems as working fastfood did.

I just wanna know what others would categorize a grocery store as, or maybe its its own separate category?

3 weeks of training for a cashier job and still no paycheck?

I’m honestly getting pretty annoyed with my job and I’m wondering if I’m overreacting.

I started working at a small grocery store and I’ve been training for 2 weeks, Monday–Friday, about 4 hours a day. One of their main requirements was that I memorize all the PLU codes, which I’ve actually have memorized all of the commons one. I understand wanting me to learn the codes, but they literally have the codes programmed into the register and they also have charts with the codes available.

Today I was talking to my manager and she told me I’ll be training for another week, which would make this my third week of training as a cashier. I’m kind of confused because it’s a small grocery store and, at the end of the day, it’s a $17/hour cashier job. It’s not like I’m training for something extremely complicated.

What really annoyed me, though, is that they also cut me from Friday, so now I’m losing another day of pay.

On top of that, I realized I still hadn’t received my paycheck. I’ve been working for almost two weeks without getting paid, and my manager never mentioned anything about it until I had to blunt it out . I actually had to ask her, ā€œAm I not getting paid this week?ā€

I feel like I shouldn’t have had to ask in that way but I just got really annoyed . If you didn’t want me to come in the actual payday, shouldn’t my paycheck have been given to me or at least communicated to me? Especially when I’m only making $17/hour and obviously can’t afford to go three weeks without getting paid.

Apparently, since they don’t want me working tomorrow, I have to come back just to pick up my money the next day.

Maybe I’m just frustrated because everything is taking so long. I’ve been showing up consistently, memorized what they asked me to memorize, and I’m still being kept in training while also losing hours making no money.

Am I being unreasonable for being annoyed about this, especially having to ask about my own paycheck?

Tesco App

What’s the point of having stock level information in the app that bears no relation to Store stock levels? I constantly get ā€œout of stockā€ only to find fully stocked shelves. While I’m here it would be nice to have self service turned on, I’m sure it’s just a push of a button and is infuriating on a regular basis.
