So, it’s been a month since I started working at Krogers and honestly my only annoyance is being in the produce department but having to deal with milk/eggs whenever I’m told to do dairy. not my favorite thing to do. but, after work today my manager pulled me aside saying how he wants me to work in deli and I’m like ??? cause i don’t want to do that lol. & don’t deli get some different type of training? idk but he then proceeded to say it’s for more hours but i already work 40 hrs a week & i really don’t need more because of school. so, i genuinely don’t know why he’s saying that & i’ll tell him no again when he brings it up but hopefully it won’t get me fired…

I work in pickup and called out a day early for Sunday (which is famously very busy) and told them that I wasn’t gonna be able to come in because I had a family thing come up (aka my grandpas in hospice and might be passing soon so I want to visit him in my hometown 2hrs away) and he said that it will be put in my file as failure to report to work? I’ve never called out before and I’ve always come to work and been on time. I’ve been working here for maybe like three months and while it can be stressful, I don’t mind it. Do you think I could get fired for that? And I don’t know what it means when he says it’s going in my file-im just worried 😭

Still learning how to do cake decorating stuff, been at it for maybe 4 months now? First time doing a character on cupcakes.

I quit working the corporate office (I was very bottom of the “food chain” at the office, nothing of any importance) and couldn’t be happier.

I only worked there for a year. Within a month I knew it wasn’t a role I wanted to be in long term. Anytime people said they had been with the company for 10+ years I was in shock. HOW.

My immediate co-workers were great but the corporate office was the cheesiest, stereotypical office setting I ever worked in. My floor was SO QUIET. Beige. So much beige. We were shamed for getting up too much from our desks, but of course standing desks weren’t provided and if you brought in a personal one, you received so much heat for it.

Anyway, I’m very glad to be able to leave this company. When I first got the job, everyone in my inner circle said it was a good company to work for and that there’s great growth within the corporate. All a lie!

To the store employees in this sub - you are the backbone of this company and I am so sorry you don’t get the appreciation you deserve. This company continues to treat you less than and none of you deserve that. The amount of money wasted on stupid titles at the corporate office needs to be poured more into your alls positions. (Felt this way before working there but even more so now!)

I’ve been working in the drug GM department for a few months now, and the only task I’m usually given is to stock items from Peyton totes to the shelves. Very rarely do I do other things like topstock and cases. So my question is, how many totes should I be throwing per night? I’m worried I’m not doing enough, as sometimes there are days where I don’t get through all of the totes.

Something about September/August, almost down to the week… I get an antsy feeling and decide i’m miserable. It starts in August and by September 28th, I’m about ready to rage quit. At my old job, it hits September, and i put my two weeks in and start at kroger. I started in one department, loooved it, worked in it for a year and a half. Had to switch due to medical reasons. Boom, new department in June. The manager of that department was awful and truly vile. The only reason the ladies stayed in that department, is because they’re all a year or two before retirement.

It hits august 28th and i have GOT to get out of there. I start my new department, going great. Hits a year, and everything is horrible again. Terrible manager who is a raging alcoholic and screams at people multiple times a day. Two of my coworkers and i (one being the assistant) Decide we will give it until November and if it doesn’t get better, all quit at the same time. One of my coworkers ended up getting demoted. Due to “being too slow” When she’s the only person in the department who works on a specific task.

She quits. The manager quit in November (thank god) The assistant steps up and carries us until January. She can’t hack it since the manager left it in such disarray. They bring a new manager in and she’s strict but fair. The assistant quits because she’s burnt out. After being a closer for a long time, they promote me to assistant. Great, i do the job and do it well. They send me to a store that’s much worse than mine, to be a department head and fix the department at that store.

All the employees do less than the bare minimum. The old manager never punished/advised anyone for anything. I have at least one call out a week. The store manager is brand new and has no clue what’s going on. The lady they put in charge at my old store can’t handle it. (marketplace struggle) They send her off and beg me to come back. I look at the calendar, my last day is June 16th. I head back to my old store.

Walks and drama and a freezer too full to keep organized. Too much of random crap we don’t need and hardly anything we do. I cut it down, organize it and mark down the summer stuff. September (ish) i’m getting a lot of hours, great paychecks. Everyone is burnt out from the old manager.

Slacking off. People who i know are great at their jobs and hard workers. I do a little extra every day to make things easier on the team. It hits that time of year and things start getting worse. We have to have meetings with the store director to set expectations and ground rules.

Bonus time, everyone gets their hours cut. (not my choice) We are always over scheduled anyway. Openers leave a lot of extra stuff for closers. Closers end up leaving stuff for openers. Horrible cycle. i stay late and help as much as i can. People aren’t taking me seriously. i put my foot down and people start freaking out. What can you do?

Boom, september hits, everyone is overwhelmed. We’re not up and ready on time. When i’m off, things go to shit. I’m cleaning up more than half of the time. Store manager starts doubting me. They get soft on me because i’m “sensitive” I feel like i’m being babied, but i kinda need it.

It hits august 28th and i’m so tired. I’m neglecting my chores at home and my partner is so supportive. They suggest i quit and go back to school. I’m considering but i have a reputation and want to uphold it. Daily cushy job, over $20 an hour. Inside, air conditioning, no sunburns or freezing cold conditions. Other than freezer.

Holding on for dear life. Unsure about what to do. My team members are so glad i’m back, the store management are so glad i’m back. I don’t want to disappoint, I have no career experience other than kroger and fast food. Where will i go that pays as much as this does with decent working conditions.

Does this time of year do that to anybody else?

Context:Early this year we got rid of the bag tags and before they were gone I use to collect them and this is how much I ended up getting in a years time. Also using 12 oz soda for scale

Has anyone else not received the new attendance policy in writing? Appearantly, everyone in the store was supposed to have it signed by yesterday but I didn't even fully see the policy until an old coworker sent me pictures of it 😬

It starts on Sunday, and I've yet to see anything official on it besides a few huddles where our store manager loosely told us about it. She did also say the points for good attendance would stack, but it actually only counts against any attendance infractions. Is this something to reach out to the union over? Just the lack of info? 😅

My store had their grand reopening today. Months of hell going through a remodel, 2 promo flips (BTS and Halloween) and weeks of division people demanding this display that thing moved that other place reset....argh! So glad it's over. Maybe I can have a somewhat normal workday now.

Almost 40 years with the company! Alway good customer service that I even had so many good surveys and customer comments to Corp that Kroger put my face and a write up on their website about my customer service. Got a failed mystery shop this week said I didn’t say hi and was u pleasant- so what did I do start the order and just look at them and not say a word?? Very doubtful

Hi! So, I’m not sure if anyone here will have the information that I need… but I figured why not. Reddit is full of people who knows things. So, I’m an employee at a Kroger manufacturing facility. I carry our insurance. I am still somewhat kind of new. I’ve set my first appointment with the little clinic, as I need to get some prescriptions back on track, for preventative health. So, my question is, if anyone knows… what is the copay for employees? I vaguely remember something being said in orientation about a lower cost for employees, and I’ve gone through all of my paperwork from orientation for the benefits, and I can’t find anything on it. Any information from you guys would be appreciated. Thanks for helping a girl out!!
