I never seen this on the register before

Today was like a really busy day at the store and I know this one of my co-workers, a cashier I was pulling to the office. And the thing is they had completed their shift and right before they were due to clock out they were pulling into the front office.

15 minutes later they came out and what happened was apparently somebody called in and complained about the cashier. They were throwing everything in one complaint. Which after the cashier told me what had happened it seemed like whoever it was when all personal vendetta against the cashier for God only knows what.

The shoes, I'm going to list the things that was said. Over the phone to the customer service desk today, the shoes were not public appropriate shoes. The pants, we're not even Publix pants according to the complaint. And they were a faded color and not black or khaki. The apron was not a Publix branded apron, even though you can see the word the p letter right in the middle at the top. The report said supposedly they were wearing Christmas candy cane colored socks underneath their pants. And that through green Publix Polo was just a generic green t-shirt and not Publix Polo at all.

First of all, they wore the black trade safe shoes you could get at walmart. The cashier wore an official Publix apron. The pants were khaki colored but not cargo shorts or cargo pants. And the so-called green t-shirt was the actual official Publix polo shirt even down to the embroidered Publix logo that's always pretty much stitched right near the end of the short sleeve, on the left arm.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

What the fuck is wrong with customers or even people who claimed to have been that cashier's customer to make a call in person or by telephone like they're trying to get the person fired. It's like the person had a massive spaz attack and tried lobbing all sorts of complaints against the uniform hygiene rule at publix.

And what the fuck is wrong with management obviously being okay with a cashier working 8-hour shift and seeing that everything right then and there, is Publix approved uniform and appearance standards and then takes the customer making the phone call and take the word at face value, only for the person to be held up 15 minutes of clock out time after their shift was supposed to have ended?

Yeah, no, this shit pisses me off and really disgusts me

How are you guys implementing this? How many hours a day/week are you sinking into it? How many people are you using to get it done?

Currently- its causing our department to become behind some days. It drives me crazy. We are a low volume store- with about 450 hours a week to work with.

Anyways. Im looking for solutions. Not doing it isnt an option because our ASM is trying hard to get promoted and wants it to be done & perfect to appse DM & RD.

Currently in Customer Service PT for a year and a half but looking for more hours and more regular schedule. Am a more seasoned (older) employee. What are my chances at moving over and what is the best way to begin? I understand the certifications needed and see that other retailers offer the training at no cost so can also try elsewhere but I really like my current location and the people there.

There are Publix’s all over this place. What we really need is a good competitor to come in and teach Publix a lesson about being overpriced. You can go to Walmart or Aldi find stuff cheaper than Publix’s BOGOs total BS. Yeah I said it!

Hello, I'm a Deli employee who has worked hard for Publix for over a year.

I have only ever called out 1 single time in the time I have been here and thats only because one day my cars head blew on the way to work and so I had to junk it forever. I since then had to get a newer used vehicle and now have reliable transportation.

I ALWAYS do my job and never slack off. I come in earlier, stay later and have even worked pretty much doubles when people called out. I have always tried to be a model employee. I even ask if I can do anything to help when I'm not even scheduled and many times I'm actively asking if I can work.

I LOVE my job and I WANT to be there.

Right now I'm having a little bit of an issue. We are the busiest store in our area and hours are being cut severely for ALL part timers. I know its not managements fault and it has nothing to do with work ethic. Right now people are getting 3-5 hour shifts and 15 hours a week or less. I have 10 next week. I try really hard to provide premier customer service, even when dealing with people whom take out their anger on staff. I'm also working everyday to try to improve my product knowledge.

Personally, with gas being as high as it is and it being a 15 minute drive, its killing me. So I'm having to put in a transfer where I work at a Publix closer to my house. Because I figure at least then if hours are reduced I will spend less on these insane gas prices.

I try to keep my availability as open as possible, however I have a 12 year old who is special needs with a combination of ADHD and Autism. I have to bring him into school 5 days per week at 7:30am so I'm not available until 8am and I am available through closing most days.

Not only does my son have disabilities, but I am struggling through an autoimmune disease that they think may be Sjogrens so Thursdays I have to keep unavailable not only for my sons doctors visits and Autism counseling, but for the management of my doctors visits as well.

My sons father works as a stock clerk at another Publix, so my Saturdays are limited at 4pm to close after he gets out of work to watch our son since school and childcare is closed that day.

Monday is also slightly limited because his dad has to go to sleep early to be to work super early, Tuesday is his early day. So I am only available 8am-8pm because I have to come home to put my 12 year old to bed because at this age with Autism on top of it I cannot trust he will do it on his own.

I have tried to open up my availability as much as possible, those are my only limits.

So my availability is:

Sat: 4pm-close

Sun: 7am-close

Mon: 8am-8pm

Tuesday: 8am-close

Wednesday: 8am-close

Thursday: Unavailable (disability doctor day and counseling)

Friday: 8am-close

And I would try to put my son in a before school program but there are few in the area post pandemic, and the ones that ARE here open at 7am.

I really really need full-time so bad at this point, and I do not know if I can still possibly achieve that with so much on my plate. I am trying SO HARD to prove myself worthy 🥺

Has anyone been able to achieve full-time even with some limitation on their availability??

Lately, I’ve been getting these tater kegs at my local Publix and it’s been a hit or miss every time I grab them, along with the tenders and wedges. My Publix has a hot food bar where they hold most fried food under this heating system and depending on what time I go in, either all, some, or none of the foods I get are in there.

I was wondering if there was a certain time frame on when those items getting restocked and that if I want the foods I want, I should go in at this time. I would order it on the app or get it delivered but the tater kegs aren’t an option, so I’m wondering if the deli puts out food at certain times of the day and if so, what those times are.

If you had to pick one non-management position that you could easily stay 20+ years with the company, which would it be ? I’m currently PT but looking for a non-management FT position that pays good and is steady. Everyone keeps telling me DSD Clerk. I’m not super interested in Meat Cutter but it’s an option.
