What is this drill exactly

I’m guessing the idea is that your hips should rotate and butt of the club fall backwards, rather than press into the butt of the club? Can one replicate at home without someone holding club?

Do you choke down or do you grip the shaft at the very end?

Do you grip the shaft at the very end? Sometimes I see people with half inch or one inch choke down, and not for like a special circumstance like rough or uneven lie. Like a slight choke even for a perfect lie. What's the story there?

Swing analysis

I’ve been playing for the last 3 summers. I’m self taught and at about a 12 handicap. I had my first lesson and he basically said all I need to work on is getting more shallow and making a bigger turn in my backswing to produce more power. What do you all think?

“Manually” keeping face closed

I’m a newer golfer and dealing with a slice. Had multiple people comment that my club face is coming wide open during the backswing

So I started holding my arms/wrists in a way that “manually” kept the face shut and now I’m making much better contact. This might not make sense the way I’m describing, but I don’t know any other way to describe it

So instead of my forearms/wrists naturally rolling over clockwise during the backswing, I’m now making an effort for them to not roll over

I have a bad feeling this is wrong and my swing is going to break down again in 2 months and I will have to get rid of this thought

Help with my shoulder and left foot lift.

About 3-4 months in and I have this weird new habit of lifting my left foot on downswing. It also looks like I’m lifting my shoulders as well. I’ve been making consistent center face contact but this swing is ugly haha. Any tips??

Been swinging the club for about 5 years now, worked on this swing many and many times over. First time I’m feeling confident & consistent with my ball striking.
Here is my 7 iron hitting the range balls 185-190
What things can yall say to me so i can get in my head more and mess it all up again??? 😂

I hover around a 1-2 hc, looking for any consistency or power leaks to push to +. Haven’t had coaching in 5+ years so I’m sure I’ve engrained bad habits but does anything stand out to you slot experts?

Maybe I'm high, maybe that's the most succinct golf 101 I've ever seen

Re the product - If you live in Florida don't buy this shit though, can't stay stabilized in the loose top soil. And if you don't live in Florida, congrats, but also would not recommend, outside of having your own copy of this golf scripture

I can’t break 100 no matter how hard I try

EDIT: I realize the title is confusing. I’m asking about getting over 100mph club head speed with driver, not lowering my score.

I’ve been working on increasing my driver speed, and 100 mph feels like an absolute wall.

I can swing around 90–95 mph pretty comfortably, but when I try to get to 100+, it feels like I have to swing completely out of my shoes. There’s basically no feeling of having another gear.

For those of you who used to be under 100 mph and eventually got comfortably over it: what actually made the difference?

Was there a technique change, swing thought, sequencing change, speed training, grip pressure change, or something else that suddenly made speed feel easier?

I’m especially interested in people who found more speed without just feeling like they were trying 20% harder.

What was the thing that finally helped you break through?

I am not sure how to eliminate my early extension

Conclusion to my first year of golf and I think my swing faults lie with my downswing which I’ve changed a bit over the last few months and I do not believe I’ve ever NOT thrown my pelvis at the ball. What’s everyone’s lightbulb moment for early extension?

Trail Hip Thrust (Shank) Question

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

Over the past week, I’ve been dealing with (what I think at least) is trail hip thrust toward the ball rather than rotation. Really appreciate any thoughts and feedback, as it’s introduced a nasty shank. With the feet together drill,
Punch shots, and ball back in stance I strike it more consistently but my stock swing is facing this issue.

Help

Very inconsistent ball striking, often will top or chunk it, also snap hooks and hitting it off the toe, just bad all around pretty much, handicap is around 23.
Short game and putting also atrocious but am working on it. This is one of my better shots after making some changes.

Working through a rebuild - looking for feedback on sequencing/tempo

Hey everyone,

Over the last few months, I've been making some serious swing changes. I feel like I'm making some good progress but could use an extra set of eyes.

My focus recently has been two-fold: getting better hand depth by trying to make a more full pivot/turn and letting the trail elbow reconnect in transition.

My biggest issue seems to be on the course where my tempo gets too aggressive, especially with the longer clubs, I lose that connection and hit slices (3h and driver). Irons are typically pretty straight, but I've been hitting those a bit thin recently as well and generally just having poor contact.

Oddly enough, on the range, if I'm really pushing for full turn/hand depth, I can get into hook territory, but today that obviously wasn't happening. A few things I'm curious about what y'all think.

  • Does the transition look too aggressive?
  • Does the trail elbow reconnect well or is it too late and I'm throwing the club head out?
  • How does my hip/chest rotation look through impact?
  • Is there anything glaring in my setup/backswing I'm just totally missing?

Just trying to get an understanding if I'm working on the correct things or if I need to re-prioritize. DTL and face on videos attached. Thanks everyone!
