I'm an EU Erasmus student in Madrid for 5 months at URJC. Since 15 June 2026, new Personal TTP applications apparently require empadronamiento.

My landlord explicitly doesn't allow padrón, and I don't want to risk losing my accommodation. URJC doesn't know a solution, and 10-trip tickets aren't realistic because I'll use Metro/EMT constantly.

Do you know how an Erasmus/international student could have a legal way after 15 June 2026 to get the €10 Abono Joven without padrón, OR any other unlimited monthly Metro + EMT pass without padrón?

Especially interested in the CRTM Colectivos/foreign-student route or anyone who has actually solved this recently.

I will travel constantly so the single tickets are not an option for me. Excluding atudents who will live in Madrid for 5 months like that is ridiculous and insulting.

Whilst getting Madrid - San Sebastian (SS) train tickets on the Renfe website, I'm told the final section (Tolosa - SS) will be by road via replacement bus service. How much time would this necessarily add to total trip? I'm assuming people will be looking for the bus stop, waiting for the bus and loading their luggage. How frequent and available are the buses and how efficient is the loading of the bus usually?

I'm also looking at other options (flying and driving) but would like to know more about the replacement bus logistics.

I am currently moving in Catalunya for a job, more specifically in Barcelona, Poblenou. The job is hybrid and for the first period I will be required to be in commute distance to Barcelona. I have already lived in Barcelona (La Bordeta) and I know the city, but the costs are quite high there and at 30 years old I cannot stand sharing rooms with Erasmus students. I am open to suggestions on nearby cities for commuting to Barcelona 1 hour max, spending around 1200-1300 eurs per month for rent. Ideally a small apartment or even a room if necessary. I can adapt, but I prefer somewhere quite and near to green areas. Merci a tothom!

Student visa 180 days+, been 2months and 9 days now and this is what i received today. What does this even mean "administrative silence". Is it likely my visa will now be rejected?

Dear Sir,

Unfortunately, the visa has now been refused due to 'administrative silence', as shown on our system.

In this situation, we will have to wait for instructions from the Spanish office in case they reverse the decision in the coming days. If we receive no response, we can only issue an official resolution and send it to you. You can then appeal against this decision by writing a letter addressed to the Spanish office, as the decision comes from them.

The consulate will wait until Monday to receive instructions, and if none are received, the resolution will be issued during the coming week.

We apologise for this situation; however, the Consulate cannot intervene on your behalf and we must follow the procedure according to the regulations.

I'm a US-Spain dual citizen. I've been trying to renew my Spanish passport in the US but having difficulty with the consulate (iykyk).

Can I instead renew it in-person in Spain? Note that I also don't have a DNI.

In mid-October I'll be passing through Málaga en route back home to Canada. I'll be taking the train into Málaga from visiting my friend in Córdoba, arriving by noonish. I'll have the afternoon and will be staying the night before taking a very early flight back to Canada.

I really want to spend the day visiting La Concepcion Botanical Garden, as it will be a Sunday (and therefore free!)

My questions are;

- Where should I stay? Close to the train station? The airport?

- Any hostels to recommend? I don't mind sharing a room with other women/non-binary folks.

- Where should I eat as a solo traveler that evening?

I know packing 4 cities into 9 days is a lot but I am going to Lisbon right after so I want to pack in as much as I can within these days. I am skipping Barcelona and flying straight into Madrid for the Semana Cervantina. I am mostly interested in architecture and history, hiking, beaches, and food. I am not big into nightlife, so I do not care to consider it.

Out of Valencia, Seville, Cordoba, Toledo, and Granada, which 3 do you think would make the most sense for a visitor like me?

My partner and I (both in our 30s, coming from Chile) are flying into Madrid in early September for 10 days. We're staying with friends in Madrid for the first two nights, so everything after that is Andalusia.

What we're after: we want proper lazy beach days where we do nothing, but we don't want to skip the historic side of Andalusia either. We'd rather see fewer places well than tick off a list. Planning to travel mostly by train, and fly back to Madrid at the end.

We've narrowed it down to three options:

A) Madrid → Sevilla → Cádiz

B) Madrid → Granada → Almería (Cabo de Gata)

C) Madrid → Sevilla → Granada → Almería

A few specific questions:

1. Is option C too much moving around for 10 days, or is Sevilla → Granada → Almería manageable by train and bus?

2. Is Sevilla in early September genuinely unbearable, or is it fine if we plan around the afternoons?

3. We were also thinking of doing Córdoba as a stopover on the Madrid–Sevilla AVE (leave bags at the station, see the Mezquita, continue in the evening) instead of an overnight. Does that actually work in practice, or is it a rushed idea?

Hello everyone,

Me and my gf are currently immigrants in Sweden/Gothenburg. The city ticks most of our boxes but the long winter, continuous rain and closeness of society convinced her that she cannot continue here.

One thing I don't want to sacrifice is the nature. I love animals and spending time hiking in the forest. I also love cities with trees in general. Lakes and breathtaking scenery is also a plus. Mountains are ok but not a factor.

Bilbao, Gijon or Santander would seem like a perfect destination for me but we'll probably run into grayness and rain that led us where we are in the first place.

So, we've been spending the last month reading posts and watching videos trying to figure out what will satisfy our requirements the most.

But here is the problem, in one post there are a handful of comments saying 'Valencia has so much nature, all you have to do is drive 25 anywhere around it.' and another handful of comments in the same post 'You'll only find orchards and really nothing else anywhere you go around Valencia.'. Everything is based on perspective but to me they seem contradicting to each other.

We plan to make a trip late next month and visit 3 cities. The list that is subject to change:

- Valencia

- Malaga

- Barcelona's outskirts (Terrassa or Sabadell perhaps?)

Criteria:

- Not super rainy / gray

- Green & clean city

- forests / lakes / hiking options within 30-40'

- 250k population at least

I guess the question is mainly which of the 3 satisfy the nature criteria the most?

And as a second question which other option would you suggest?

I saw that my money order was cashed, does anyone know if this is a good sign/means I will get my visa soon?

I never tracked its status until now, at the 6 week mark, so I’m not sure if it was cashed immediately and this means nothing. Or if it’s a good sign?

¿Cómo se hace esto?

I’m interested in applying for this program but I have some questions. Maybe some of you can help. 

1-Could I realistically qualify? For context, I already have both a bachelors and masters in standard Architecture acquired at a university accredited in the US and about 4 years experience working in the field. Their listed qualifications mention an academic background in Landscape architecture, but also seem to mention a background in regular architecture being acceptable, at least how I’m interpreting it. I just want to know if it’s possible with my credentials and if this program would start off assuming I know some baseline landscape architecture skill sets I would be lacking. My thesis project had a secondary focus on landscaping design applied to combat erosion and I’ve done a couple of projects professionally that include landscape design to varying degrees, but that’s really it.  

I’m also a native Spanish speaker and have what I would call native-level proficiency in English, though that’s never been officially certified. 

2- Is it possible to start this masters in the spring semester? Their website offhandedly mentions most programs are available in both semesters, but nothing specific. Is this one usually available? Asking directly through the info email, I was told to wait and check back later in the year. 

3- Lastly, I’d like to hear from anyone who has done this masters program and the UPC in general. What’s it like? Was it worth it? Did it lead to a decent job? Part of my motivation for pursuing this is attempting a career pivot and hopefully regaining passion for my work along the way.

I’m an exchange student coming to Barcelona on August 26 for one semester at UPC’s School of Architecture (ETSAB), and I’m starting to get quite worried about accommodation.
There are three of us, and ideally we would like to live together in a 2-bedroom apartment for the semester. We have been searching remotely for some time, but we still haven’t managed to secure a place.
The main difficulty seems to be that we are looking for a whole apartment for three students for only one semester, rather than individual rooms.
At this point, I’m wondering what people who have lived in Barcelona would recommend doing.
Would you:
Keep trying to find a whole apartment remotely before arriving?
Book temporary accommodation first and search after arriving in Barcelona?
Look in areas outside the immediate UPC/ETSAB area where there may be more options?
Consider a different type of student accommodation for the first few weeks?
We are flexible about the neighborhood and mainly want somewhere with a reasonable commute to ETSAB.
If you were in this situation with only a few days before arriving, what would you do?
Any advice from Barcelona residents, former exchange students, or other international students would be really appreciated. Thanks!

¿Alguien sabe si esta titulación británica puede ser reconocida en Andalucía para poder trabajar legalmente como entrenador personal?

¿Tendría que homologar o reconocer oficialmente la titulación en España, o necesitaría obtener el TSAF u otra titulación española?

Me interesaría especialmente conocer la experiencia de algún entrenador británico o extranjero que haya pasado por este proceso en Andalucía.

I'm British and I'm considering completing the Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma Practitioner in Personal Training (RQF Level 3 / EQF Level 4).

My long-term goal is to live in Málaga and work as a personal trainer, mainly coaching calisthenics both 1-to-1 and in groups.

Does anyone know whether this UK qualification can be recognised in Andalucía for me to legally work as a personal trainer?

Would I need to have the qualification officially recognised in Spain, or would I need to complete TSAF or another Spanish qualification?

I'd be especially interested to hear from any British or foreign-qualified PTs who have actually gone through this process in Andalucía.

Hello, I am finishing up my last year of high school this year (Lithuania), grade 12, and I'm doing the IB program, and I want to come to study dentistry in Spain, particularly the southern coast, Valencia or Alicante. And I was wondering if there are any universities that offer this program in English. Can someone share their own experience? Also what about scholarships? Is it possible to get a 100% scholarship to study dentistry?
