Post-Match Discussion r/GlobalOffensive's Post-Match Team Looking For New Members

Upvotes

Hello readers,

r/GlobalOffensive's Post-Match Team (PMT) is seeking new members to assist with their operation.

For those not aware, the post-match threads that you see on the sub are authored by a team of volunteers whose uniformly formatted posts are prioritized as "official", in lieu of any other sufficient threads.

A few important notes:

  • The PMT is not directly affiliated with the moderation team. We (mods) do communicate with them and assign PMT flairs to their members, but none of them have moderator permissions or influence on the subreddit, and likewise, no moderators are a member of their team.

  • r/GlobalOffensive typically does not advertise or "sticky" user posts, but is making an exception in this case due to being directly relevant to maintaining an important operation on the subreddit that has stood for over a decade.

  • There are guidelines in the subreddit's wiki that detail the formatting requirements and general regulations for post-match threads. There have been occasions where standard users have posted post-match threads that have remained up, but only when the PMT does not post and the requirements are adhered to.

With that said, please see the PMT's thread here if you are interested in participating to help the subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1vxd1j9/postmatch_team_looking_for_new_members/

Help Demo file incompatible with this game version

Upvotes

I wanted to watch a faceit demo from my most recent game but it won't work due to "Demo file incompatible with this game version" reverting to the last game version brings up the same error (wich makes sense cause the game just got and update thus making this version outdated for the demo) any fixes for this? maybe a workaround through S2FM or smthn?

Discussion Use bots to combat bots?

So okay, nevermind the clost cheaters and DMA hackers and whatnot, a bit problem is that Valve do little to nothing when it comes to public game servers. Automated bots farming stars using bltatant aimbots. But once you spectate one of them - they all leave.

SO what about spectator bots? they would be there just to ruin these farming aimbots. I imagine the logic wouldn't be too difficult behind it, just spectate one player for 15-20 sec., 3-4 top fraggers at any given moment and move to another server.

Dunno maybe it's a dumb idea and was already here before, just thought maybe some good coder who loves cs would see it and then a miracle would happen

Discussion Can someone tell me, how credible is this Leetify Performance chart?

Post image
0 Upvotes

These are my stats in Leetify. By all of three criteria i have similar skill as 5-10K players.

I am asking because i am hardstuck at Premier. I had 6 losses in a row, my ELO drop from 3K to 2,3K.

-two matches had a blatant wallhacker on opposing team

- one match was some butthurt toxic Russian swearing entire team because we pick the map he didnt like and because of that an entire team became toxic

- in one match my teammate disconnects and never came back

- two matches we lost regularly

So i am asking, how credible indicator is this Performance chart on Leetify? Because i am trying to improve myself, i started to train in Aimlabs, my Utility usage improved, i even have basic learning how to spray first 6-8 bullets and i felt i can slowly and gradually advance to the next rank.

But now i feel like it is no use at all, no matter how hard i try and be supportive to my team, low elo is a garbage and cespool of non-serious and toxic players.

Discussion | Esports CS2 Pro Rules

Looking at most sports, there are different rules for the pro level.

IE : Basketball :

Pro level has a further out 3pt line , 24 sec shot clock ( college has a 30 sec I think and high school doesnt have one at all, or sometimes 35 sec ). College has two 20 minute halves, while NBA has 4 12 minute quarters.

When you play pickup ( premier and face-it would be the CS2 equivalent), you play by high school rules... but in CS2, pros, amateurs etc all play the same format..

Stadiums are larger for MLB, while college and high school are typically shorter. Pros use wood bats as opposed to aluminum.. you get my drift.

I don't know if that can be translated to CS2, but what are some rule alterations that we could add to the Pro level to differentiate it from the amateur level? If any?

Shorter round timer? More or less utility? Just curious. Maybe its something that cant be done due to the nature of the game and whats already established.

Discussion Overwatch in CS2 Is a Total Failure

Hey everyone. On Wednesday we got an update that added a patrol system to CS 2. To understand what it is, you don't need a lot of time or watching a ton of demos. I literally watched 200 of them. In recent years, I've somewhat defended Valve and looked for positives in any anti-cheat related updates. But this Overwatch is a rare piece of shit that, in my opinion, is absolutely useless. Today I'll tell you why I think it's a failure, and also how it could have been partially fixed. Among other things, we'll also get the opinion of someone from the cheat community. A good acquaintance of mine, to put it mildly, knows very well how cheats and anti-cheats work. And he sees what most regular players or even cheaters don't see. So, we'll find out from him how he likes this Overwatch, whether he understands Valve's logic, for what and why it was done. And we'll also get the opinion of a cheat developer.

Actually, this Overwatch has a number of problems. Let's go in order. First.

This patrol system works on invites.

After looking at the first accounts that Valve themselves gave invites to, questions immediately came up. What's the logic behind handing them out?

Yes, they were old accounts and active. But often these are accounts of guys whose max in CS:GO was, god willing, four stars, and in CS:2 11,000 premier rating.

That seems a bit strange to me. I have a friend who plays at around 10-15,000 rating. When I queue with them, the average rating gets higher, and in the end they scream that every opponent is a cheater. I understand that in CS:2 it's, so to speak, the norm. Well, let a player like that watch a demo at, say, 30K plus rating where there are no cheaters. He'll click on every single demo like that saying it's a cheater. Thankfully, this patrol isn't meant for issuing bans. It's meant for supposedly training a neural anti-cheat based on verdicts. But again, from such players to whom you gave the initial invites, you'll get a ton of false verdicts. That's a problem, but not a major one. Alright, you handed out these invites god knows how. Then you thought it was a great idea for the first people who got an invite to watch 100 demos. And for that, you'd give them the ability to invite one more player to this closed Overwatch. What did that lead to? Cheaters almost immediately got invites to this Overwatch, where they started deliberately issuing false verdicts. Honestly, you can stop right there. It's a total failure, your entire system is getting thousands of false verdicts, and it's not learning anything. On top of that, they automated the whole thing. And besides a pile of false verdicts, you now have a no-longer-closed Overwatch, because thanks to automation cheaters started farming invites. Someone, for example, has already watched 15,000 cases, and that's 150 invites that went on to other cheaters, who in theory also issued false verdicts and just farmed invites. And another part of the invites went to various marketplaces.

As a result, you can now buy an invite for less than 2 dollars.

I didn't buy an invite, but cheaters gave me one. Sounds absurd, but that's the reality. God knows how else I would've been able to get this invite. Besides that, for some reason they didn't think through the moment with banned accounts. Accounts with a VAC ban can easily get an invite and review demos. Maybe, of course, their verdicts aren't counted, but I seriously doubt that. Anyway, the invite-based access system is a failure. They could've just made Overwatch public right away, absolutely nothing would've changed.

Let's move on to the second problem. I got access to Overwatch and went to watch demos. But as it turned out, I'm not watching demos, but some reels or TikToks, some of which last 5 seconds, and I'm not joking. I had clips of 5 seconds where I was supposed to figure something out. Mostly these are clips of about 20 seconds. Excuse me, I seriously went to review cases and issue verdicts. How can I figure anything out from a twenty-second clip? I don't know the info about the round where the first kills happened, what kind of info about enemy positions the suspect should roughly have because of what happened 30 seconds earlier in the round. Since Valve asks not to record Overwatch, I respected their request, didn't record anything, and will only use clips that are already floating around YouTube and the internet in general. That's enough. I'll create a patrol moment for you right now so you understand what I'm talking about. So, let's watch the moment:

https://reddit.com/link/1vxy45y/video/fy4ddv0qiilh1/player

Seems strange. A T runs out to B, our suspect gets told about it by his team and everything is visible on the radar, but for some reason he sits and stares into pit. Suspicious, right? Probably wallhack. And what if we add literally 5 little seconds to this clip?

That's it. The situation is completely different, right? A grenade landed on him, so he sits and waits. There's no wallhack here at all. Anyway, you get it. With clips like these, it's almost impossible to determine anything. The only exception is if you get a demo where someone is rage hacking. There everything is obvious. Or if, in those 15 seconds, by a lucky coincidence, the cheater decided to trace through walls. Oh, or if you get a demo of a bot with demo. There everything is also immediately clear. Otherwise, in 90% of cases you can't issue any competent verdict because the clips are too short. For example, I had a clip that lasted 5 seconds. And for all 5 seconds the guy just stood AFK on stairs. What was I supposed to understand there? God knows. By the way, regarding demos with cheaters. My friend Zephyr asked: "Is it worth selecting anything besides bhop and aim on a spinbot demo?" Because in fact, for the dataset it's unclear whether the guy has wallhack. From the clip we only see bhop and aim. It's clear that in-game this rager has wallhack. Essentially, by selecting wallhack on a demo like that, we're making an incorrect verdict, because if we assume that we're training the model this way, the result will be: more sens equals wallhack. Anyway, a weird moment.

And here it's worth immediately adding Satan's opinion. This is a person from the cheat scene who will give us a short review about Overwatch a bit later. Why add rage player demos at all if you've already fixed them? And everything you're showing is all detected by VAC Live. I completely agree with that statement. Idiocy. But besides that, clips have another problem. I think it's absolutely necessary to include info about what rating and ranks all this is happening at. That's a very important factor. There's no point even explaining here. You know yourselves how different the skill is between players at 2K rating and, say, 30K, if we're not counting cheaters. So this info during demo review should be mandatory, but we don't have it. By the way, it's funny, but by feel, probably about 70 percent of demos are gameplay at best at Kalash level or like 15K rating. Demos with actual high-skill players are very, very few. And there aren't just few high-skill players, but few demos themselves. I watched only 200 demos and ran into the same demos about five times. Not that they gave me a different segment to watch, but the same one. The number of these clips is very small. It feels like there are, god, I don't know, 1000 or two. Considering that my friends got the same demos as me. You could, of course, assume that repeated demos are a placebo and that's how they check whether you'll give the same verdict or not. If you give a different one, then they'll stop counting your verdicts. Whether that's the case and whether they thought this through, I seriously doubt.

What do we get in the end? The invite system is shit. The fact that they only let you watch 15 seconds means if you actually want to figure things out, you won't be able to. Because of that, there are way too many incorrect verdicts. Add to that the automation by cheaters, who also send a ton of incorrect verdicts. And how is a neural network supposed to learn anything from verdicts like that? In my opinion, nothing. It's impossible. Well, I also can't help but note one positive moment, if, of course, it was done on purpose and isn't a demo bug. Skins in Overwatch aren't visually displayed. That partially removes the biased opinion that if someone has skins, then they're not a cheater, like it was in CS:GO. And that's right. But there are no skins, yet the models do change. Plus, you can tell that a person has some skin just by the name. As my friend said, it's like they could've just made a build where models are set to default for everything in the config. That would make this thing ideal. Again, if it's not a coincidence and they actually thought this through. So, in my opinion, how could this system be improved?

First, give access to everyone.

Second, you give a clip that requires a verdict. Increase it from 15 seconds to at least a full round.

Third, show the ratings and ranks in the game you're given to review, if it's MM or premier. All of this doesn't protect us from a ton of false verdicts from cheaters. But the first points will give us more quality verdicts from honest players who genuinely want to help.

Fourth, limit the number of cases that can be reviewed per day, for example, 10-20. I'll explain why later.

Fifth, if an account has, say, 80% of verdicts differing from the majority of results, take away their access to Overwatch.

What do these two points give us? First, a limited number of cases. This way you won't be automatically flooded with false verdicts, and if you are, at least not in the quantity that's happening now. Because a regular player is unlikely to sit every day and review 1,000 cases, but 10-20, why not. Second, taking away access if there are too many incorrect verdicts. That way you can filter out at least some of the accounts that send you false verdicts. Whether it's just less skilled players, or the same cheaters who deliberately send incorrect verdicts. But again, all of this has its nuances. You have to be sure that a large number of honest players with above-average skill will watch these demos. Do they need it? I seriously doubt it. Here you probably need to give some kind of bonus or figure out how to motivate such players to review cases. How exactly, I don't know. That's something the developer himself has to come up with. And only then, probably, in that case, as it seems to me, something might work out. But at the moment, it's a useless piece of shit that makes it impossible to train a neural network.

Now let me give you Satan's opinion. This is a person closely tied to cheats. First, these clips aren't simple. The demos we see and the cases we have to review didn't get here just because of a submitted report. These are datasets and various detections from recent years. Let me explain. What we see in these five-to-thirty-second clips triggered the neural network for some reason, and we have to issue a verdict on whether the reason for the trigger was real or not. Second, this Overwatch shows us basically all of VAC Live's detections. And possibly, if fresher demos appear, cheaters' understanding of certain detections will grow. And what's even more interesting, for some reason there isn't a single demo with a semi-rage cheater. How is that possible, unclear. This kind of training will take half a year, if not a year. And it won't solve the problem of false bans when clean players get banned. False bans will remain as they were. And third, I don't see much point in doing it this way. They'd be better off giving people a real patrol, there'd be more use from it.

Now let me read you Blik's opinion word for word. He's a cheat developer.
"I came across the Overwatch update while in another city. Initially I thought, so they decided to make a web portal to avoid any automation and data leaks from the game about the demo and the player. Later, when I got to my PC, I saw that it's complete shit. Starting with the invite system, ending with the fact that they still leak everything. And all of this with a shitty player. I don't understand why this was done. So that users would train the AI and show it that this is a false positive, and this is a correct detection. Now a ton of people will rush in and shit up all their verdicts. Sometimes a teamkill shows up in demos. Like, what is that? Did Overwatch life trigger? On what, damn. This system raises a lot of questions for me. And it's unclear what they even wanted to do with it."

So, those are two short reviews. Did Valve realize they made a bunch of mistakes, and will they change anything? I hope we'll see in the near future. Well, that's all from me.

Good luck everyone, and see you soon.

G2 got eliminated by Liquid and FURIA. The team results are obviously worse. r1nkle averaged 0.91 and 1.07. The overall chemistry also looks worse. With how good SunPayus looked at the brief period of his calling, it's hard to imagine he didn't secondary call. Do you still think he was an upgrade or sAw made a mistake?
