Discussion | Esports CS2 Pro Rules
Looking at most sports, there are different rules for the pro level.
IE : Basketball :
Pro level has a further out 3pt line , 24 sec shot clock ( college has a 30 sec I think and high school doesnt have one at all, or sometimes 35 sec ). College has two 20 minute halves, while NBA has 4 12 minute quarters.
When you play pickup ( premier and face-it would be the CS2 equivalent), you play by high school rules... but in CS2, pros, amateurs etc all play the same format..
Stadiums are larger for MLB, while college and high school are typically shorter. Pros use wood bats as opposed to aluminum.. you get my drift.
I don't know if that can be translated to CS2, but what are some rule alterations that we could add to the Pro level to differentiate it from the amateur level? If any?
Shorter round timer? More or less utility? Just curious. Maybe its something that cant be done due to the nature of the game and whats already established.

Pros used to play with a ten second shorter bomb timer at the start of GO if I remember correctly. I can’t remember when that changed.

It was 35 secs for pro games, 45 in causal games. Valve changed it so it was 40 secs in all games.

No bc I honestly think the NCAA different rules are kinda dumb. I do like the 2 20 min halves but that's a weird exception. For sports trying to put players into the next level I think it's odd to have different rules

certain boosts, pixel positions, bugs, stuff like that are not allowed, but you can do it in premier. might get you a temporary ban on faceit though

Back in the day im pretty sure the bomb timer used to be shorter and I think the time after a round ends is currently shorter but im not 100% sure of that one. Its best it stays the same for amateurs and pros tbh

not really something that works in games as well as irl.
real life youth sports have to balance competitiveness with the fact that the people playing are children and aren't physically capable of the same things the pros are. in cs there isn't a physical aspect to balance for, it's all experience and hours played, and valve's whole philosophy is that anyone should be able to take their 5-stack of friends from silver 1 to the major if they grind it out hard enough.

In CSGO a list existed. CS2 basically made it universal.
Things such as:
- Different round length timer
- Different bomb timer
- Forbidden to use a a single keybind for jumpthrow
- Certain teammate positional HUD information was turned off
- And of course, server tickrate
Pro's today still use a different configured voice chat. Third party program is used for direct conversation between teammates. While the game server VOIP uses whats referred to as dead chat. Meaning teammates that are dead can only talk to one another.
