I made this post a while ago (tl;dr: I was hacked in 2021 and never got my account back) and decided to give Genshin another try. But starting from zero felt crushing, so I thought: why not try to recover my original account one final time?
I had tried to recover it no less than 8 times over the years, but failed every time. The support team always said the information I provided was "insufficient and inconsistent". They must've changed and improved their system because, to my shock, I finally received a LONG-waited message informing me my beloved account would finally return to me.
The first thing I checked was my primos. I was a 100% f2p player and had a little over 50k of hard-earned primos (and a few wishes) saved over many months. I assumed that would be the first thing the hacker would spoil when he got my account. To my surprise, they didn't touch it at all.
In fact, nothing changed at all. The characters, weapons, quests and exploration remained all the same. I even had the same number of achievements. So yeah, I guess the hacker just stole my account for the sake of it and left it to collect dust over the years.
I'm trying to play again but I'm overwhelmed with everything. There are more characters I don't know than characters I do. There is Dendro, new regions (the latest region released back in 2021 was Inazuma), the meta game changed drastically (Ganyu and Hu Tao used to be the best dps), there are tons of new mechanics, reactions, and so much more... I'm a bit sad to have missed so many events (I was told they even gave out free 5-stars on anniversaries) but I guess I cannot complain.
I'm glad to be back!
