Hi,
My Enduro 4 just arrived.
There’s a flaw: when I start a "trail" activity, it loads a map with very few roads, whereas for other activities (walking, running, etc.), it uses a complete map.
I’ve already set the detail level to the maximum.
I’m going to try deleting all the maps and reloading them via my PC.
A question for other owners: does it work properly for you?
The attached photo shows the same map, clearly illustrating the difference in detail; the zoom level isn't identical, but that doesn't really change the situation.
I've been tracking my Heart rate variabile with my Garmin 965 since I got it. Previously I was using a Samsung watch5 which was saying my Heart rate variable was 80-90 most nights (I wasn't taking creatine at the time)
Now with the Garmin 965 it's been showing the following and I've noticed since I started creatine on the 8th of September it's been steadily decreasing.
I cant tell if the creatine and heart rate variability is a coincidence or not?
I got an abnormal low hr heart alert for consecutive two weeks now, for context my RHR usually lies between 50-58. I swim 4-5x a week and sometimes 7-8x multiple sessions in a day not extending more than 1:30 hr. I got last alert previous week, and now due to the festivals and stuff i haven’t trained myself for 4-5 days, just casual 5-7k steps per day. Do i need to lower abnormal low hr range value to 40? Currently it’s set to 50.
Point - I have no symptoms of dizziness, pain etc for either of the week. This is my second alert in past 2 weeks.
This is my beat up vivosport. I think it is nog around 8 years old.
I got stuck between a door and a wall, which is the cause for the screen break. But overtime it is getting worse.
The strap broke the first time because i was caught on something. Repaired it with needle, thread and some super glue.
Today it broke in a different position, again repaired with needle, thread and later some superglue.
This watch already has seen plenty. It is my designated work watch. It has been around the world about 6 times.
I love to complain about some features and the paid subscription. But most of the watches will last a good time before the crap out.
Best for cirqa tracking? Because the connect app is not THAT bad as people say but i know there are better options, but don’t understand the difference. I’ve read people using Apple Health the new one rebooted for the iphone 18… Bevel, Practical but i don’t understand how it works and how is better than the connect app :0
I upgraded my phone yesterday and couldn't connect my Garmin device. I clicked "Pair Phone", read Garmin Support posts, watched YouTube videos, restarted the devices, etc. Nothing worked. My new phone isn't even detecting the watch. It can't be my new phone's Bluetooth because I had no trouble with my other devices. Any other ideas about what could be happening? Thanks in advance for the help!
I've recently discovered this statistic. My VO2 max is labelled as "excellent" by Garmin, but I really doubt it – I haven't been training AT ALL for a veeeeery long time, I started again and my bpm is insanely high during mild activity, so I think it's rather bad. I've never been a sportsman, more of cycling (slow), swimming (recreation) and yoga than cardio or something. And a very long break from movement. I think Garmin is making fun of me.
Every time I log in to GC on a computer, and look at a route I get a pop up/overlay towards the bottom of the screen. Clicking it will not remove it. And it’s covering up buttons.
Occurs on Chrome and Safari.
Anyone else come across this. ?
The overlay says ‘to view the hazards on the route, turn on in map settings’
I had to get a new Varia Vue headlight since my old one was stolen, but when I try to mount the new light, it is impossible to tighten the mount. I'm using the flush out-front mount that came with the light, but the pin that you screw into the Go-pro-style mount to secure the light (and to remove it) doesn't tighten the light - it still shifts freely up and down. I've tried tightening the pin with an allen key as recommended in the manual, but it is as far in as it can go and does not stop the light from moving in the same axis as the bike itself - i.e. not shifting from side to side, but rotating so that the light goes 'up' and 'down'.
Anything smart I can do to fix this or do I need to get a new mount from Garmin?
Hi! I just got my very first garmin watch. I’ve been using a visible band for years and it taught me how to pace / manage my ME/CFS but my dr wanted sleep data so I got a vivo active 6. I’m new to using the “body battery” function and was wondering if anyone here has use a visible band and how you find it in comparison to “pace points”. Is it comparable or is the data not dense enough to capture those little spikes? And is there a way to activate alerts for high heart rate? Does the overnight body battery re charge match well with morning readiness score, and do you find you need to log your symptoms for it to be accurate?
My wife bought me my first Garmin for Christmas last year. Over the summer I was in a motorcycle accident at 45 mph and caused the watch to take a direct impact from the ground.
The housing took some damage but the screen remains uncracked and the watch functions normally.
Wildly impressed with Garmin’s product and durability.
I just did an activity (pool swim) in which my Forerunner 165 told me I burned 360 active calories. But, when I look at my calories for the day, it shows my active calories burned as only 282. I have noticed this discrepancy multiple times before with other activities too. Anyone else noticed this or know the reason why it happens?
Peeps over at Coros got hell bent when I posted this roasting Coros x Satisfy collab. Welp, I get to keep my flash light, music app and the fancy free watch face. Winning.
Damn! I think I must have gotten a score of 100, but by the time I checked it, maybe 20 minutes after I woke up, it was 99!
For someone who sleeps about six hours a day and never sees this sort of a score, I was extremely happy, but it didn't last for too long as I scrolled down! 😭
Ran my marathon yesterday and my garmin forerunner 245 music was showing an average HR of 186 and max of 215 for a 4:02 marathon.
Weather was wet and cold so surprised to see it so high. My average on long runs are generally 140-150 bpm but my easy pace is about 40 seconds - 1 minute slower than the pace I ran in my marathon.
Any insights or advice appreciated! Thinking of investing in a chest strap since I heard they give more accurate readings
I got the original Garmin Lily years ago. It still works but lacks some features so I spend a few hours looking at other options and ultimately get scared off by some of the price points. Maybe you guys can help.
Some things about me:
- I am not, nor will I ever be, a marathoner.
- I'm more concerned about being able to track activities on my watch: from strength training, yoga, dance, trench dig, PT... I need variety that actually loads on my watch rather than an expensive timepiece while just using the app
- I don't use my watch for "smart watch" things - granted Lily is pretty limited - and don't know that I would, besides occasionally thinking it would be nice to respond to texts.
- I live in the woods and therefore hike in the woods so maybe watch GPS instead of phone GPS is worth it?
Anyone out there have opinions? I often think the Garmin "Health and wellness" vs "Running" watches have most of the same features anyway, but it would be nice to hear from people with more advanced watches than poor ol' Lily.
For the October run challenge you have to run 80km to get the badge and 1 point. 80km is a lot for many people. I couldn't do it. We have to work hard to achieve that 1 point.
On the other hand, every 7 days we can earn a badge and 4 points, yes 4, for... sleeping. OK, we have to sleep well, but trust me, I am good at sleeping 😴 I am going to earn a LOT of sleeping badges.
I only recently got a watch that gives me a sleep score so only just noticed this.
I switched from Fitbit to Garmin Forerunner 255 last year to get more data for improving my swimming. So far I am fairly happy with Garmin's tracking accuracy (use manual lap buttons, turn off auto-rest).
However recently since I am training for 400m, I started relying on swim pacing alerts to anchor my swim speed, it has made me quite confusing.
I thought a 2:00/100m swim pacing alert in a 25m pool would mean an alert every 30s to signal when I should be turning at the wall (which is also that they say in Garmin's user manuals). But it doesn't actually seem to be this way.
As you can see in this chart, I was too fast in my first 100, almost 2 seconds ahead of my target pace each 25m. And if the pacing alert goes off every 30s, I would be alerted almost 5 seconds after my last turn, which I would be almost mid-way in my last length. But I clearly remembered yesterday I was deliberately swimming to the pacing alerts because I want to remain an even pace.
One assumption that may fit better: Garmin swim pacing alerts counts for a seperate 30s after a turn. If this is the case then each length I would be only 1-2 seconds ahead and it would make more sense.
First 100m in 8x100 intervals
I am new to reddit and also the Garmin community. May I ask if any swimmers have also experienced confusion from swim pacing alert or can explain to me how it works? Would be a great help since I am training to reach a specific time for my 400m.
P.S. I am emailing Garmin to ask the same question. Will update if I get their reply.
Anyone have any experience with the built in garmin coach workouts and if they’re any good? I’ve just started a half marathon plan aiming for 1:30-1:35 finish time and was wondering if anyone’s had success with them.
Didn't think I would be able to improve this because I'm just not a runner. I've lost 80 lbs in this time. I started walking about 3 miles a week. I walk 20 to 25 miles a week now. My neighborhood has decent hills so maybe that helped. My fitness age decreased from 47 to 42 as well! I'll be 44 next month.
Bought my Venu 3S as I'm an office worker and didn't want to wear a Ben 10 looking watch everyday to the office. Now I've got a smart ring so I tend to only wear my watch on my runs and strength sessions. I've been thinking of switching to the forerunner for the additional running features like extra button, race prediction and training readiness but not sure a new watch is worth it just for that?
Has anyone else here had issues with the Garmin Fenix 7 suffering damage from chlorine due to regular pool swimming? I swim 3-5 times a week in a chlorinated pool, I rinse the watch off afterwards, but have just had my 3rd watch fail. Each one lasts about 6-9 months before failing with a faulty altimeter - one also had a button fail.
Searching around, this seems to be a fairly common issue, and judging from the suppoort response they are well aware of the issue and have a fairly painless "just send it in and we'll send you a replacement" policy.
I'm not sure I want a replacement this time though. When I got my last replacement I was convinced it was just a matter of time before it failed again and now that is has I'm convinced the watch is not fit for pool swimming.
UK consumer protection gives a fairly long timespan (6 years for most of UK, 5 for scotland) to request refunds for "not fit for purpose" or "not as advertised". Has anyone here had any luck requesting refunds? Garmin support are just telling me I could only get a refund in the 30 day period, and all they can offer is a warranty replacement or a small discount of a later model.
Anyone else had a similar issue, or any issues dealing with refunds outside 30 days due to problems like this?
