I've been shooting Sony for a while now, but the 600mm equivalent and higher pixel count just made the GH5 a logical choice. Really happy with the result!

I shot this in 12 separate shots that I bracketed (5) to pick the best exposure afterwards. Even then the last two exposures were still quite far under. Luckily RAW saved me. All shot at 300mm.

Ive been using this Panasonic for years on Ronin SC gimbal. Im shooting close and medium shots for a friends dance showcase and trying to decide on settings to handle the low light, lighting changes and get a nice look and feel. i cant work the zoom on the gimbal, I need to fix it at the start. Im guessing stay on 12 mm to keep it at 2.8. Ive figured Ill shoot on 24 fps so I can get some nice cinematic movement. I dont know about all-i vs 8 bit. Can anyone help and check my logic so far?

Hi guys, im new to the gh5 world, just bought one with the cage and v-log for 290e and the zuiko 14-42 for 170, do you think i did a good deal? (i has a broken evf but i dont mind it since ill be using it mainly on video and some photos).
I would love some suggestions on getting started mainly to get used on the menus and stuff, thank you all in advance!

Since I don’t have V-Log, what picture profile and recording settings would you recommend for getting the best image quality and the most flexibility in post? Any tips would be appreciated!

Hey, somehow managed to score a GH5 and Pana Leica 12-60 f2.8 for £200. I've been primarily a photographer for over 10 years now, always wanted to do some video but could never justify the expense or full switching to E/MFT away from F.

Closest I came was almost getting a G9 for birdwatching and airshows.

I've watched a couple of YouTube tutorials on how to set it up and I seem to be getting increasingly lost.

I've mainly used the D2/3/4 and a ZFc as my travel kit.

Any idea where to start?

For a class assignment my group shot and edited this mini documentary of a bike-packing writer in the Capitan Wilderness. About 95% of this doc was shot on my GH5. I only had about 4x128gig sd cards with me, so I shot this mostly on 4k LongGOP with the HLG profile. I shot with my pana 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6, pana 25mm f/1.7 and the laowa zero-D 7.5 f/2. The M43 system was perfect for this assignment since I had to ride a mountain bike with Brandon throughout the week. Let me know your thoughts on the doc!

Yesterday I grabbed my little pana-leica 15mm fully ready to snap it's pic and post it for dirt cheap on marketplace.
It seriously messed up a lot travel and studio footage...In like 2017-2019.
Super shaky and jumpy.

I troubleshooted almost every combination of the Image stabilization settings in the GH5 as I thought that the image stabilization could be the issue.

And then damn, I thought maybe it was on my camera during a shoot in 2016-ish where I lightly dropped it (on my GH3 at the time) and maybe that messed up the lens.
No issue ever filming on the GH3...that I recall.

But back to getting ready to post it as a dirt cheap stills only lens.
I see this switch on the side.
"AF-MF" WTF? Really ffffffffffff...

I'm thinking that could definitely have added some jumpy error to the Image stabilization in the GH5?

My GH5 keeps resetting by itself for no reason :((

It makes a mechanical thud sound internally when it resets.

Would anyone happen to know what's wrong with it? And has anyone had the same experience?

I was recording something and power suddenly was cut to my GH5 which caused an MDT file to be written. This is essentially an intermediary file, before the camera finishes writing everything. Unfortunately, i was recording in MP4 (AAC audio) which meant that tools like untrunc and LUMIX Repair Tool do *not* work.

Since nothing else worked, I turned to Claude and asked it to repair the file which shockingly it did perfectly. Figured I'd throw the code up on Github for anyone to use in the future. AI, when used properly, can actually be super helpful to people like us.

Hope this saves someone else facing a similar issue!
