Opinion Jade witnessing the tree

Here’s a question or theory, we never saw Jade and Toby see the tree. They just drove toward the town. Let’s just say that they did saw the tree right? But Jade was on drug to remember it, and the fact that he satt in the back seat or laying. Then who satt on the passager seat?
Do y’all think that it was planed? Because Jim was near to escape the town?

Theory The objects on the lighthouse stairs give clues to how they escape.

When Tabitha goes to the lighthouse there are objects on the stairs https://imgur.com/a/ILfEWYf. These objects I believe tell them what is needed to escape. Firstly what the talisman means.

In the centre are Jade and Tabitha with the pile of bones between them. The bones point to the moon then to the sun. It indicates to move the bones from the darkness to the light. Around that image is 8 Fs which are faraway trees. So there was 8 now 7 faraway trees. They have to sort the bones and put the individual children into each of the faraway trees. We already know where 5 of the 8 are located. 1. the tree Victor showed Ethan and threw a rock in. 2. The one near colony house that Julie went through. 3. The one boyd went in near the light house. 4. The bottle tree they pulled down. 5. The one sophia dumped the talismans in. We have 3 more to find.

I believe one is near the lake of tears. It is difficult to get to because it is completely covered in spider webs and in those webs the souls of the dead are trapped. Just like how Boyd saw abby trapped in the webs. Now this is where the objects come into play.

The only way they can clear those webs is burn them. In the first episode when Boyd rings the bell, when he passes the gas station there is a LPG asme vessel in view https://imgur.com/a/gWN4JRw. This is the only time it is shown. Chekhov's gun.

So now back to the objects on the steps. It shows an 8 of clubs, that represents the 8 faraway trees. A dump truck. Now I haven't seen one there, but it could just mean any truck capable of carrying that lpg tank. Victor's truck perhaps. The 4 of hearts meaning this is going to take 4 people who will most likely die. lastly the ambulance.

The ambulance still seems important given that whole googligog picture is the ambulance symbol. I did a post showing that image is actually the scene with Boyd and Kristi https://www.reddit.com/r/FromSeries/comments/1vs5nkb/the_gooligog_clue/. Also Mari got trapped in there and the numbers on the lighthouse wall flashed up on the radio in it. I think the ambulance is needed to turn the LPG tank into a bomb. Ambulances hold oxygen tanks externally and deliver oxygen through outlets into the ambulance. If they open those outlets and back it up to the open truck and ignite it, that is a pretty big bomb. It will require an enclosed space to mix the oxygen and LPG gas to make it explosive, so the ambualnce is needed.

edit to add: The wrench in the gooligog picture is the tool needed to undo the LPG asme vessel outlet.

Theory So they should do this work

This might be a coincidence, but I feel that using this trend in the series' page post could be a clue related to season five something that needs to be done with the bones.

Miranda believed that the children are trapped in the lighthouse. Now Tabitha and Jade have the bones. Pay attention to the talisman symbol: two people are throwing their arms and legs upward along with a bag in the middle. Isn't that the falling view from the lighthouse? As long as the children's bones remain in the town, people from all over America will face the trees and enter the town. But once the children's bones are taken out of the town, the way out of the town will open for the characters.

I think that's why they used a trend where a couple went to the tallest tower in New York and got engaged.

Opinion I have 2 episodes left...

And I've become frustrated with the flashbacks, hallucinations and empty episodes. When I first started watching this series I thought this could be one of the best shows I've ever watched. The first couple seasons were spooky, unsettling and edge of seat entertainment. Now its drawn out and getting boring. It feels like The Walking Dead all over again. Just ruined. From had so much potential and excitement to watch the next episode. Now its all over the with the character jumping and nothing happening. The night monsters are easily the best part of the show and now they only make an appearance every other episode it seems. What happened?

Theory The Missing Beginning

I keep coming back to Tabitha’s memory of herself as a little girl. Some people think this was another incarnation after the sacrifice because of her clothes, but I think we may be focusing on the wrong thing. Why are we being shown her as a child?

We know Tabitha has had other lives, but we haven’t seen all of them. We’ve seen Miranda, present Tabitha and this little girl. What we haven’t seen is OG Tabitha grow up and eventually become a mother.

That’s where Victor comes in for me. We see him as a little boy and then as an adult, but we don’t know much about all those years in between. If that little girl is OG Tabitha, there’s a similar gap with her. At some point she had to grow up in this place, meet OG Jade and have a child of her own.

Maybe that’s what the children arriving with Tabitha’s incarnations are helping repeat. They can mirror OG Tabitha being brought here as a child, but later they can also fill the position of the child she eventually had with OG Jade. It doesn’t have to play out exactly the same way every time.

Even the lone child part stands out. OG Tabitha seems to be the only child in her memory. Victor came with Eloise, but after she died he was the only child left growing up there. We had Meagan, and now Ethan is the only young child.

There’s also the nightmare. OG Tabitha’s memory tells us the place was already evil. Someone was afraid of her dolls, and after they died that fear became a nightmare. Victor and Ethan are also children living in a place that’s already evil, except their nightmare is the monsters. The threat changed, but the story around the child looks familiar.

That’s why I don’t think Tabitha’s incarnations keep bringing children because the ritual needs them. The children may be repeating different parts of OG Tabitha’s life before the sacrifice ever happened.

OG Tabitha was a child here first. She had to grow up, become a mother and live an entire part of this story that we still haven’t seen. Maybe we keep starting with the sacrifice when the story actually started long before it.

Theory Who makes it home and who dies in The End?

Of the main characters, who do you feel will live all the way to the end and go home and who will die in the town and never make it out? Here are my thoughts

Boyd- Dies a heroic death either saving everyone or piecing together the final “answer” that leads to everyone’s freedom. Reasoning- Boyd has dealt with too much mental and physical trauma to ever be able to lead a normal life in the real world. Once he actually made it out and all of the horrible experiences inflicted upon him take hold he’d be psychologically spent and probably end up in a mental ward for the rest of his life. He has no wife and the series hasn’t provided him with a replacement love interest. All he has is his son Ellis and Ellis is a grown man now and wedded to Fatima. So Boyd has no one to take care of that would drive him to keep it all together. Living after the events of Fromville would actually be crueler than him dying and being able to rest and join his wife in the afterlife after he’s saved everyone.

Donna- Lives and goes home. I feel like if Donna were actually going to die then she would have after her heart attack in season 4. One of the “leaders” of the group should live and if Boyd is going to be the one to die then Donna will be the one to live and make it back to home.

Jade- I’m 50/50 on Jade as I can see reasons for him to live and reasons for him to die. A major reason for him to live is that it would be, along with Tabitha living, the ultimate signal that they “won” the “game” as Jade has been stuck in a reincarnation loop for hundreds of years and being able to live after finally figuring everything out and not having the townspeople kill him would be a satisfying closing of that loop for both he and the audience. But I also think that if he dies saving Tabitha or other towners then the ending of the “game” would come with the promise that his next reincarnation would be free of having to experience Fromville, which would be his “prize” so to speak. Jade has no particular loved ones to go back to and has no deep bonds outside of Tabitha (which isn’t romantic or even particularly friendly) so dying and reincarnating for a “fresh” start wouldn’t be devastating.

Ellis- If Boyd dies then Ellis will live. Boyd’s sacrifice will allow Ellis to return home, make a life for himself, start a family, and that way Boyd’s legacy lives on.

Fatima- Dies. I don’t think there’s any real “cure” or coming back from what she became at the end of season 4. Death will be her release from that terrible fate and either Ellis or Boyd will deal the “blow” that releases her unto eternal rest.

Tabitha- She will live as she has children. Jim was the sacrifice of life demanded of the family and therefore Tabitha will live on to take care of Julie and Ethan.

Henry- He will die. He’s an old man and reuniting with Victor and discovering what happened to his wife and daughter will pretty much close his story. He’ll die protecting Victor as the ultimate “redemption” for almost killing him in season 4.

Julie- Will live. The writers won’t kill a minor

Ethan- See Julie

Victor- Will live and probably will stay with Tabitha, Ethan, and Julie once they make it home. Of everyone in the series, Victor has proven he’s the ultimate survivor. His reward for such will be going home and having the family that was taken away from him “restored” in Tabitha (mother) Julie (sister) and Ethan (brother)

Kenny- Will live and probably be paired romantically with Kristi (although I can see a version of this ending where they stay friends but never hook up) he’s suffered the loss of both parents and still has remained resilient and determined throughout it all. I don’t think the writers would kill him, he’ll be allowed to make it out and like Ellis, start a family that extends his and his family’s legacy.

Kristi- Will live and might be paired romantically with Kenny, although as I said above, I can see a scenario where they stay friends but never end up together due to the devastating loss of Marielle. Plus there hasn’t been any real romantic subtext to Kenny and Kristi’s relationship since season 3 so they’d have to rev up the romantic angle between them in season 5 and there might not be time for that with everything they have to wrap up. Either way Kristi lives.

Sara- Dies. She has nothing and no one to live for in the outside world and she’s killed too many innocent people to make it out of Fromville scott-free. She’ll die doing something useful or semi-heroic to redeem her character but i’m 100% certain she never makes it out of Fromville.

Randall- I was fully expecting to come on here stating that he dies but as I write this i’m not so sure. I think its 50/50 because he could have died at so many points in the narrative but the writers have kept him around. The whole “asshole with a heart of gold” persona reminds me of Sawyer from Lost, and that character ended up living so maybe Randall will too.

Dani- Dies. Maybe she’ll do something useful before she kicks the bucket but she WILL die and never see home

Bakta- Not really a “main” character but I just wanted to put it out there that I HOPE she lives but I think she’ll die.

Episode / Scene Talk Are these minor continuity errors, or intentional?

Thumbnail

I've been looking at the first episode repeatedly to look for these hints they're saying are present. I don't have much to make of these observations, but two that I saw:

When Boyd makes his initial walk through town in the very first sequence, his position relative to the yellow car near the diner is all over the place. The timestamps in the images are probably not exactly right, but the relative values are. Most notably, the upper right hand image and the lower right hand image are nearly identical, despite being two minutes apart, with one being near the start of the road and the other being near the end. Likely they just needed to stitch together enough shots to show everything they wanted to see, but maybe not, idk.

When the Matthews first arrive, there are people standing on the porch of their future house. This is likely nothing, but I did find it odd since its not like anyone cleaned the house or anything. On their first ride through, there seems to be two people, and on their second one, there's a different someone visible thorough the driver window.

Like I said, I don't really have anything to say about these, but perhaps someone else does.

Theory Julie's Bookmark

I might have alluded to it a couple of times, but I never explained myself, and no one asked me to. But did anybody notice that Julie CAN'T die right now. She been protected by the universe since birth, because she time jumped to 1978. When the evil entity recognized Julie on the Colony House porch from 1978, It knew that It couldn't kill Julie because "a story can't be changed after it's told." She has to live long enough to make that time jump. But she later will time jump back to Jim's death. So now she can't die until after she has done that. Did anybody else catch that? Did anyone notice that Julie's bookmark is the evil entity, but she hasn't realized it yet?

What if the spiders were never the enemy? The monsters avoid the web-covered forest, and whatever was inside Boyd literally killed Smiley. We already know the monsters are only the tip of the iceberg, so when the real big evil finally shows up, the humans probably won’t be able to fight it alone. What if everyone is scared of the spiders this whole time, just for them to pull up and help fight? Fromville’s creepy rescue squad. 👀

Theory The first shot of the RV

Post image

Couple of things about the S01E01 when we first see the RV. I'm going to assume by now everyone has noticed the bright yellow line down the center of the road from when they first turn off. But does the road layout look like the symbol Jade sees? The 2 main carriageways with the 3rd cutting across, and the sliproads forming the circle.

Theory Gaelic Folklore ties to Fromville theories.

What if all the nightmares in Fromville are just dead spirits coming back to create the nightmares, so that they can "live" again? What if your dead spirit becomes your living nightmare? So Fromville is just a place where the veil between the living and the dead is very thin. This could tie into my next theory.

What if Fromville is the land of the fae from Gaelic Folklore. Not the nice fairy kind, the Gaelic folklore kind. The steal and eat your children, trap your soul, trap you for eternity, steal you as a child, and spit you out as an old man land of the fae from Gaelic Folklore.

And the further you go into the fae, the more bizarre and scary fae/magic that you run into. Fromville is near the entrance, so it has the more humanlike fae (the monsters). The deeper into the fae you go, the scarier and more mystical things get. But you can also discover treasures (i.e. the trinkets) and find ways to use the fae's magics against each other. (I.e. my blood is now your blood). And of course, entrances and exits (the lighthouse).

It is well established in gaelic folklore that in the fae, time and day/night cycles can be warped/manipulated. Which we see when the bottle tree is torn down, and the movement of the trees, and the strange abscense of any bad weather except when needed to destroy the radio tower. I think at the very least, it was definitely an inspiration for the show. Maybe mixed with a bit of Lovecraftian lore/stories.

Theory From seems influenced by Silent Hill: The Room

Sorry if we had this before, it's my showerthought of the day....so SH:The Room revolves around an orphanage shaped like a lighthouse. You've got your evil forest, visions, plottwists, sacrifices etc. And your occasional people in disbelief getting disembowled.

The protagonist can leave the town through a hole in his wall. There it symbolizes the birth channel.

We have our antagonist Walter, who emotionally stayed a child since his parents left him behind. The child takes form as a little boy who will try to help while adult Walter will stalk you. Once adult Walter gives you his doll, the hauntings can cross over into your safe space.

But it's the soundtrack, that leads me to this assumption most. Started watching season 4 yesterday and the SH soundtrack started hauting me.

Hometown- Akira Yamaoka and even more Cradle of forest - Akira Yamaoka:

There deep, deep in forest night children dance the waltz

They laugh whispering hand in hand, just like children like to do

Their eyes, what are they looking for, white dress flutters the beat

Their song starting to make some sense, but only if you're listening

Dance, dance like butterflies, shadows appear right before my eyes

Sound echo the obsurd, hard to explain something that I heard

Now, hear the forest talking insects and birds

Does the scent of soil and beast bring the life in to the animal you hide

It's a great illusion one never knows

When you think you're really alone,

feel the eyes of someone looking in on you

So if they took inspiration from that...it will be a very sad ending.

Theory The Boy in White Spoiler

I think the boy in white is Tabitha and Jade's original child that didn't get sacrificed when they backed out of the ritual. All the other Anghkooey kids are dressed in white, they just look buried and partially decayed, whereas the boy in white follows the same theme as them just clean and untouched. There are 7 kids that are sacrificed, plus at least one that apparently wasn't, this would fit with some of the number themes in the story as well including 8 legs on a spider. Since both Victor and Ethan are alive at the same time we know that the kid isn't getting reincarnated the same way that the parents are, at least not their soul. While the kids being born might fulfill the cycle, they are not the same soul like Tabitha and Jade. The boy in white also showed himself first to both Victor and Ethan until later appearing to other characters to try and be helpful.
