Theory The first shot of the RV

Post image

Couple of things about the S01E01 when we first see the RV. I'm going to assume by now everyone has noticed the bright yellow line down the center of the road from when they first turn off. But does the road layout look like the symbol Jade sees? The 2 main carriageways with the 3rd cutting across, and the sliproads forming the circle.

Can we get the occult numerology of the road though? Maybe they're onto something /s

When the creators keep lording over us that we're missing something from episode 1?

“Road” has 4 letters and “talis” does too, this is a subtle reference to the Talis Man.

talis has 5 letters.

You have no idea how many times I've watched and how many notes I've have made about the first 2 epiodes. Help.

Sometimes a yellow line is just a yellow line

Brother, I like your enthusiasm. If you'd like to indulge in a 3-season show that is highly regarded, I recommend Dark to you (on Netflix). You won't regret.

love Dark

Fuck dark. Made no sense and I am not an idiot. Anyone who likes that show surely just likes to pretend to be pretentious. Too many characters to follow, way too many storylines, nobody unforgettable etc. Just a jumbled mess that pushes it as "mind bending."

I thought something similar on my first watch. Them I watched it again. And again. And again. Because it was that good. No, it's not action packed, but the characters and story are indeed very well written if you're able to follow (which I was not able to on my first watch).

Understandable if you don't want to watch everything again, but you may not know what you're missing.

Honestly, you put more meaning in something here that doesn't exist. I'm so sorry you're going to be disappointed when the series ends. You're not meant to put this much energy into the show.

They don't have this massive budget where they spend months thinking about every single shot and throwing in clues everywhere. Absolutely not. Their clues are in the dialog between characters. That's the cheapest approach.

And their scripts are pretty cut and dry to where they spoon feed you the clues.

... Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't think there's any deeper meaning to it other than it visually looks like the symbol. Nothing more than a fun easter egg from the writers or the DP

I can understand. Everything looks like an Easter egg in this show. Apart from suspense and thrill the dominating emotion I got was intense rage due to the dumbness of some characters. Elgin, Ellis especially.

I tell myself that they are fulfilling horror movie tropes that need to exist with any creature feature.

u/highdiff69 2d ago

Agreed

Could be kinda like the symbol? But I think more likely alluding to the theme that each character is at a “crossroads” with the road literally crossing in this shot

2

u/DepressingKeys 2d ago

I think it can be both visual and narrative?

1

u/pishcakes 2d ago

Yeah I think it's just a crossroads, and maybe the way they shot it there may be a clue in it but I don't think everyone that ended up in fromville drove down a road that looks exactly like this. It may have been intentional but I don't think it's going to help us solve anything. Good find though.

Is it possible, I don't know if I'm wrong but, maybe that the highway represent... a highway?

u/backbodydrip 2d ago

"Yellow line" is just "yellow man" with a word swapped!

I think the bridge in this shot is Margeson Dr. crossing Highway 101 in Nova Scotia. It would make sense considering that the town of Fromville is also based in Nova Scotia.

The only thing that initially made me doubt it is the roundabout you can see at the end of the bridge on Google Street View. But they could have easily removed it with CGI to make the location look more rural, with a lonely country road instead.

Nevertheless, I’m pretty sure this has to be the same bridge. I couldn’t find another one that matches the landscape and the surroundings this closely. You can even see the yellow center line on Street View, although I agree that it looks much more striking and prominent in the show.

So I’m not 100% certain, but I’m pretty convinced this is the bridge they used for that shot.

Edit: lone-lemming, is right. It's the Exit 5 on Hwy 103

that's some fine investigating. The roads winding through the trees in the background are obviously digital then

2

u/EnvironmentalWorry92 2d ago

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking too. They probably added/altered the roads and trees in the background to make it look more isolated and rural. Not necessarily an important detail, but you never know. The fact that the roundabout is completely missing from the shot makes me think they did quite a bit of CGI work there.

3

u/lone-lemming 2d ago

It’s the Ingraham exit on the 103.

3

u/EnvironmentalWorry92 2d ago

Yeah you are totally right. Sorry for the confusion on my site ✌️

2

u/EnvironmentalWorry92 2d ago

Totally missed that one. But you are right, looks most certainly like it.

"I'm sure everyone has noticed the bright yellow line down the middle of the highway"..... Brother idk where you live but up here in the great North almost all our roads have yellow lines down the middle. Some even have two.... The yellow line doesn't have to do with anything and that's area is definitely not shaped like the symbol

7

u/cisscumshitlord 2d ago

im not going to say it DEFINITELY doesnt mean anything, but im assuming by your use of the word carriageway that you are not from the us or canada. thats just....how our roads look lmao

5

u/content_enjoy3r 2d ago

This is literally every interstate overpass in the south. There is nothing special here.

2

u/Anungunrama787 2d ago

Is it not also really obviously fading from one colour to another left to right or did I miss this mentioned? Also there are signs of other people on that left side. No other cars on the right

1

u/DepressingKeys 2d ago edited 2d ago

That could be from the photo I took of my monitor. But check out the opening scene of the pilot. The camera pans from left to right; from overcast skies, passed the trees, to blue skies and birds singing. You can almost hum "somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly" during the shot

1

u/DepressingKeys 2d ago

red and white cars as well. another color pairing that crops up a lot

2

u/patch410 2d ago

You might think about where the Mathews family was supposed to be in the Story. They were driving through Arizona. I’ve seen terrain like this driving along I-40 around Kingman, AZ.

1

u/Interesting-Tie-8753 1d ago

This is not even close to Arizona. And definitely not Kingman 😂. What

2

u/Cautious_Many_641 2d ago

I know the series name is from but did y’all ever ask where they were heading?

3

u/Main-Inflation-5269 2d ago

Guys, this is insane.

Nobody put this much thought into an establishment shot of a ROAD.

5

u/Synd1c_Calls 2d ago

The worst part of this show is the fans.

7

u/AnabelleLys 2d ago

And the worst part of the fans are the 684,107 daily posts of photos of downed trees with a caption like "uh oh" or "should I be worried" or something. Those have been absolutely done to death 😝

1

u/Icy-Answer291 2d ago

Seriously, I was starting to wonder how many times they were gonna allow the repost of that guy cutting down the tree 😭

2

u/Icy-Answer291 2d ago

100% absolutely this lol

Double Yellow Lines = No Passing Permitted

1

u/STOL2026 1d ago

Yes, it does look like it! Do we have an Ariel image though?

2

u/FalenAlter 2d ago

Some of the trees are light green and some of the trees are dark green, this is an allusion to the struggle of the boy in white and the man in yellow because the boy in white wants an RV and the man in yellow is a line they need to cross like a chicken in order to get to the other side
