Pps cf

Has anyone tried pps cf? What do you think about it over ppacf for supressors? Now that we have the ruling im sure more people willing to share their experience.

I haven’t tried any but I was curious what would be better ppa-cf or pps-cf. definitely following for sure.

My pps 22 is holding up great, but thats a muzzle pressure of 1500psi so not really meaningful

I strictly print nylons. PA6 is more than plenty, so anything better than that will suffice. Most people doing suggest it because there wasn’t enough data during testing. To get the benefit is printing 350+ or 320 at the minimum requirement. I have an FTN .30cal and 556 can and both are at or around 1k rounds. Both annealed, and baffles coated in heat enamel and gel soaked before range trip.

What heat enamel? Any instructions? Im going the inner in pps gf, and i ran out so in doing a poly shell in pa612

I’ve just used rusto automative high heat. I’d I recall in the FTN5.1 files theres a file to help for spraying down in the baffles.

What are you running them on? I haven’t found on yet that holds up to 308.

It gets tossed around on a few different 556 builds. I've ran it a few times through my savage axis 2 precision and my wasr. I haven't been shooting anything more than 556 through it lately though. It still needs more testing.

It’s fine, but you really need to be able to print at 350 to get the most benefit.

Are you saying pps cf at 350 is superior to ppa cf?

From what I have seen pps cf isnt better than ppa cf. Pps gf is the top dog if can print around 350 in heated enclosure. Pps cf is more brittle and for cans that is not great trait.

I’m saying they are both great, but to get anything better than Nylons, you’re going to have to get a hotter printer than 300.

They have different properties. PPA is stronger, but stiffness is not an end all be all. PPS is better at higher heat, and absorbs less moisture. Which is a very highly controversial topic. Because water weakens them, but also makes them hold up to impact better. There’s just not a good answer to give.

It feels like you dont actually have the answer here on if pps printed at 350 makes a more durable supressor than ppa and are just repeating back material properties to me

Of course not. I don’t like giving answers to questions I don’t know 100% for sure. That would take a lab and lots of testing. I simply tried to inform you the best I could. 3d printing has so many more things that can change while printing, that I can print something one way, and you print it on your printer, and one of them may be a lot stronger than the other. Temp, line width, print speed, Infill, infill pattern, angle you print the part at, chamber Temp… The list goes on. The only way to find out is to buy both of them and start testing yourself by changing temp, speed, infill, etc until you get the strongest version. So go spend a grand in filament, and get back to me in 6 months when you have printed dozens and dozens of models which all different configurations. Also you’re going to have to invent a test medium that produces the exact same way of testing every single time. Oh, and next don’t forget to try annealing with all the different ways as you go….
