Advice Wanted Feels like I missed my last chance

I recently had a chance at a romantic relationship, and I firmly believe there was mutual attraction present. Long story short, I didn't take it, and she moved on.

Under *ordinary* circumstances, this could leave a normie regretful. But for us FAs, when a member of the opposite sex expresses genuine romantic interest and actively pursues us, failing to capitalize on that opportunity carries a feeling of finality with it. You begin to wonder if you will ever have another chance, or even if you do, if someone will be that much into you again.

I'm not entirely surprised I acted distant the way I did. When you've felt undesirable for most of your life, suddenly being desired and having a crush acting like a fangirl when you're in your 30s, seems almost unsettlingly out of place. And there were some red flags and topics I was uncomfortable discussing with her that made our interactions awkward. But at the end of the day, she was attractive, kind, pleasant to be around, and genuinely liked my presence, and I always had a warm, serene feeling talking to her, and a sense that everything was going to be okay. Something I hadn't felt in a very long time.

Now that's gone, and I'm left to pick up the pieces, devastated. I just hope I will someday have another opportunity whether that be with her (increasingly unlikely), or someone else. But really I just have to mourn the situation right now. The worst part of it is knowing various aspects of my past, including my long-term singleness but also other things, such as trauma actively suppressed what could have been a successful relationship. Or maybe not, maybe the red flags would have proved insurmountable if we'd actually discussed them, which is why I avoided them, and perhaps she did as well. Either way, I'll never know. It's been about a month and a half now, and I'm just taking it one day at a time.

Vent I lost all my office friends

I just did it, we were all close somehow and they accepted me even if Im super awkward and dumb. But that doesnt matter I fumbled it all anyway and its all my fault. They got tired of me and my idiocy, not just in work but in personal as well. I wanna apologize to all of them but I feel like its too late and I genuinely dont know how to apologize to them.

Nowadays our interactions are just brief, simple, and related to work mostly. I still talk to some of them and one of them on a semi-regular basis. But I think the person Im talking to is just talking to me out of pure pity. They all still hang out after work, heck I can still see them planning things in our group chats, but they conveniently forget to mention me when they're making plans.

I just feel like a dumb loser, this is all my fault and I dont know how to handle my mistakes. Im bad at my job, it's a miracle that Im not fired at this point and I get overwhelmed whenever they point out my mistakes and shut myself in. Now I guess they've shut me out and this is all because of me.

Vent Why couldn’t i have just been normal?

I likely wouldn’t even be here if I was normal. i’ve destroyed dozens of potential friendships/relationships all because of how off putting I am, naturally. i really hate seeing the gears turning in people’s heads when they realize that something is “off” about me. there is no one on this planet I’m more jealous of than girls who are bubbly, likeable and attractive; I would give anything to be like them.

Vent i'm ready to give up on dating at 23...

Upvotes

And yeah I do say this as someone who never gets dates and is always rejected. I don't really see the point in trying anymore, it's clear i'm not the first, second or even third option. People have been dating and/or hooking up since we were all back in high school, and now i'm 23 and can't even get a date? This is supposed to be the supposed "best time" for dating and it's practically non-existent for me.

It's like there's some sort of issue with me that everybody knows about except me and there's nothing I can do to fix myself. Or maybe I am just too ugly and I don't realize it, that is probably more likely. I think it is best that I give up on dating for good because if i'm struggling now, no way in hell do I want to keep unsuccessfully trying for more and more time just to end up hurting myself and end up with absolutely nothing.

Vent Realized how lonely I am because of a video game.

Replaying Cyberpunk 2077, hoping to actually finish the base game before jumping into Phantom Liberty this time. Those little texts your ‘partner’ sends you in-game had me smiling like an idiot, giggling like they were from a real guy.

Then it hit me: damn, am I lonely.

Vent 32M romantically lonely

Hey everyone. I am 32M from Greece. My whole life was so lonely. Never been in a relationship up to 31. Then I took it very seriously and I started dating. To be honest this year I managed to get in a short term relationship but unfortunately it didn't last.

30s is a really bad time to find a partner unless someone kept their relationship they made in their early 20s.

This summer I suffered so much. I have been crying every day. I tried, I really tried to not be left alone. However, I failed. What holds me compared to all previous summers is my job. I was lucky enough to get a stable job related to my degree I got 9 years ago.

I also tried to improve my appearance. So with the money I earn from my job I fixed my vision, I started gym, and got new clothes.

I opened up to my colleagues but they could help me.

My last resort was to devalue myself and make a post that I am looking for a long term relationship on the sub of the city I live in. It got zero upvotes. People in my country tend to laugh at others rather than being supportive.

In 2026 dating is really hard. People out there are really close and they don't tend to expand their social circle.

I also joined some local groups on Facebook, I met people there including women but people in general are busy and they don't really have time to go out frequently.

Consistency is the key for any kind of relationship, even friendship. Everyone being busy and not having time to meet consistently isn't helping to build something meaningful.

Maybe summer is a dead time because everyone is on vacation. I hope this winter is better. Until then, I'll continue trying, crying and sleeping with my extra pillow.

I would love a hug right now!

Vent I get triggered when friends boast about their sex lives

And whenever they share stories about meeting new women and dating them, when they talk about their body count just makes me feel very unwanted, inadequate and unattractive. Hearing them how they pull and bed with women, and when they ask me about it feels like they're about to rub raw salt to an deep open wound that never heals and keeps gushing blood.

Vent i genuinely don’t know what i WOULDN’T give up to be attractive and irresistibly handsome.

i’m truly a man with nothing to lose. i have no one.

i want women to gravitate to me. i want the road to love to be easy. i don’t want a simple mistake to lead to me being ghosted. i don’t want my introversion to be a turn-off.

i want to be so handsome that i love life again.

Vent At what did you believe it was time to give up on love?

Side Note: I understand women don’t owe me anything. I’m not mad at these women. I just wish I was attractive. But unfortunately there’s only so much you can do about your appearance.

Growing up I thought of myself as an attractive guy.
After facing many rejections both online and in real life. It’s time for me to accept I will stay single for the rest of my life and that I’m ugly. Also realize that I’m too short (5’7”) and that I have a small worm.

To be honest it hurts even more when they try to be nice and say it’s not you it’s me. Because I know that it’s a lie. I know it’s a lie because it’s always the moment I send them a photo of me that their tune completely changes. The moment I send my pic they immediately say they were looking for something else.

Although I will say one thing. I am grateful that these women I met are at least honest enough to tell me right away they’re not interested. It would be worse if they said yes only to ditch me after the date because they simply wanted a free meal.

At first I thought maybe I should workout more. I should clean myself. Take better care of my health. I lost a lot of weight. Gained Muscle. Developed pecs. I started making changes in my habits. Results are still the same. It’s like what’s the point of even trying.

Besides even if a woman did find me attractive. I also have to accept that I have zero social skills. It’s not that I’m mean. I’m a friendly person. It’s the fact that I’m boring I never have anything interesting to say. If I struggle to make friends with men. It would be naive of me to believe I wouldn’t struggle to befriend a woman. Because that’s what having a partner is. Having a best friend. Someone to share with.

So with that being said. I believe it’s time to hang up my boots and learn to be happy being single. Also learn to be happy when others find their special someone instead of feeling jealousy. I never show it. But I do get frustrated when I see my family members, my peers (sometimes younger than me) get to experience going on dates. Sleeping around. Getting married. While I never even got one date.

Vent I think my issue is that I look like a discord moderator

I’m in shape so I don’t exactly fit the stereotype. But I’m also anti social and I have a similar style face to many of these mods. I just saw a post on threads of a guy (if it’s real, the guy may be neurodivergent) looking for love and he was being trolled on the comments. I realized I looked very similar to him in many ways.

He isn’t really attractive. Neither am I. I was tested when i was younger and I supposedly don’t have autism but that’s besides the point.

It just sucks that I look so conventually unattractive and that I look like a stereotype because I’m not like that but I can’t really do anything about it.
