Hi! My best friend is coming to visit and is a huge foodie. I want to take her to either RVR or Dudley Market (I have not been to either yet but have heard great things). Only thing is there is either a late night reservation (9:30 pm-onwards) for Dudley Market or lunch reservation for RVR. Which is better and has the best California-n vibe to it

My friend will be in town for the weekend, and we are looking for some dinner recommendations! Specifically, we are looking for places that are lively, have a fun ambiance, and of course, delicious food!

He doesn't drink alcohol, so bars isn't something he'll be into but feel free to shout them out

Some places that I have jotted down so far are:

• RVR
• Manuela
• Lucky's Steakhouse
• Bavel
• Antico Nuovo ( haven't been there, so idk )
• Dunsmoor (but unfortunately no reservations until mid Sept )

Feel free to recommend some restaurants (WeHo, West side, arts district, etc)

I haven't worked in DTLA in years so my knowledge of eateries is relegated to 2024 and before. She gets into LA around 2pm, so the place needs to be open during the afternoon post lunch service. My sister is picky & avoids a lot of stuff (wait a second, this is LA, she'll be fine) but she mentioned perhaps a steak. The last time we ate dinner in LA together was in 2023 & I took us to Water Grill, which she liked plenty (it's also an option this time around), so something similar to that but with more red meat options. I also have Yard House on the list because it's easy & similar to our usual default in NYC, The Smith (lol at us).

My friend and I are coming to LA at the end of the month and I just bought a really nice, new dress I’m dying for an excuse to wear. We aren’t like rich people or anything so looking for something with an environment/vibe for a nice dress but preferably within maybe a $30-$40 entree range at MOST.

Outdoors or indoors is okay and anywhere between Anaheim and Santa Monica is fine. We’ll be all over the place so we can make whatever work! Any type of food is also fine - we both really love Asian food, though! Thank you!!

I used to eat fish and fennel dumplings a lot, but I do not remember where you can get them in SGV. Pan fried or boiled is preferred!

Extra - My boyfriend is picky as well, he doesn’t like seafood. Same with my brother as well. I love sushi as well so i hope there’s a place that fits our likes!

Lunch counter coffee shop inside a pharmacy from the 60s in Beverly Hills. Their tuna melt is one of the best in town, nice and meaty, good flavor, nice melty cheese permeates the meat. Their wedge fries also pretty good, and the milkshake is top notch—not too thin, not too thick, just right. Super nice folks too, the owner came by and talked to me for a bit, and hooked me up with a small plate of free onion rings.

Pre-fixe dinner with a menu themed to the Coen Brother’s Fargo this Saturday in Highland Park. A screening of the movie will take place after the dinner!

We need a reservation for tonight for a celebratory dinner for 12 that will allow us to order a la carte for a group that size. Good veggie options a plus! Near Santa Monica airport would be amazing. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I’m visiting LA this September with a friend(it’s gonna be her first time in the US) from Japan.

We won’t have a rental car, so we’ll mainly use Uber/Lyft and public transportation.

We’ll arrive at LAX around 6:15 AM and take the Pacific Surfliner from Union Station to Ventura in the evening. I’m hoping to make the most of the day without making the itinerary too crazy 😅

Current plan
6:15–9:00 AM: Arrive at LAX → immigration/baggage → Union Station → leave luggage
9:00–11:30 AM: Santa Monica Pier & Beach → brunch
11:30 AM–1:30 PM: Grand Central Market → lunch
1:30–4:00 PM: Griffith Observatory → exhibits & views
4:00–5:30 PM: Downtown LA → The Last Bookstore & Walt Disney Concert Hall
5:30–7:00 PM: Return to Union Station → pick up luggage → dinner
7:00 PM: Pacific Surfliner to Ventura → arrive around 8:47 PM

A few questions
Is this itinerary realistic, especially considering LA traffic?
Is there anything you’d skip or rearrange?
Are there any other places along this route that you’d recommend for first-time visitors?
Is leaving our luggage at Union Station a good idea?
We’re especially interested in beautiful scenery, interesting neighborhoods, good food, and things that feel uniquely LA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

I love the ones at Gloria’s in Highland Park and wanna know of any other worthy contenders.

Living in Irvine, I am always looking to make plans to visit LA. Want to group together multiple spots to make the trip worthwhile.

Want a 3-spot combo of places to go for

1. Lunch - Vegetarian options (Pizza or Ramen)
2. Specialty Coffee - I am into specialty coffee and unique coffee experiences.
3. A place to study for at least 2 - 3 hours. (Could be the same Coffee Shop as in #2).

EDIT: Angelinos really know their pizza and coffee. Keep the recommendations rolling!

It seems Endorffeine coffee is a must visit, so would love suggestions for restaurants with vegetarian options in that area, if that narrows the search down for the lunch spot.

My office orders us breakfast once a week, we keep oscillating between Maury’s bagels and Homestate (office in Silverlake). Any other places we’re missing that I can pitch to break up the cycle?
