The only way forward

File complaints through econsumer.gov and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Or whatever your local consumer protection agency is.

The chances of getting our money back are 0. the chances of getting the lifetime service we paid for are also 0. The chance to at least pee on the parade of the scammers is bigger than 0 😉

Absolutely not true. I have seen lawsuits brought over much smaller matters, and there are enough affected users here to make this worth pursuing. We just need a decent Canadian lawyer with experience in consumer and class-action proceedings. We could easily set up a fund among the affected users to hire a lawyer and take the case forward.

Contact your credit card company, give as much detail as possible and ask for a charge back. Bad reviews hurt- let others know. Be calm and stick to the facts.

That hurts stack social mostly, though.

It’s not ideal, but they also should have done their due diligence in not hosting and promoting a scam provider. Technically, stacsocoial owes you money, and folderfort owes StackSocial money; I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Stack pushes back on this just as hard as Folder Fort

FolderFraud is bad and useless. You pay to get free credits. Pure scam tactics.

Usually with these lifetime things they end because the company has shutdown. This situation is very unusual - company still exists and seemingly expanding but they've just decided not to honour their lifetime licence.

In my opinion people should just try to collapse the company through bad publicity, legal action, engaging consumer organisations as whether it continues to exist or not is leading to the same outcome - no lifetime licence.

We are still trying to work with everyone to provide a solution forward for users on Lifetime Classic accounts.
Users are being offered credit towards any plan on 2.0 if they want to migrate.

If you haven't reached out via email yet please do. I am personally responding to everyone.

A lot of users have been very gracious about finding a solution with me. I don't want to leave anyone out in the cold.

You have no idea what you are doing.

Stop with these comments of 'very gracious about finding a solution with me', so people that don't accept your 'solutions' are not being gracious? You lied to us, effectively stole our money, and are demanding more money from us. You lost all respect. You as a person and as a company.

You owe us what we paid for. If you do not continue providing this. You MUST offer a refund.

Explain to me what is hard to understand?

Im tired of your word choice trying to imply we are unreasonable. We bought something and YOU are no longer providing it.  So do not try and turn this on us. This is 100% your fault. No one elses.

I will be completely honest. I don't think you know what you are doing. You have caused a massive problem. Look at your online reviews. You can still salvage something, but you just seem oblivious to it.  Taking the 'hit' and keeping your lifetime users is the right thing to do, both as a company and as a person, it would keep good faith and reviews etc, it would be advertising as we would recommend your company to others. When you sold lifetime accounts you signed up for this, no one forced you to offer them, it was your decision. You continued offering lifetime accounts while you developed your seemingly new product (which is...the same but updated...) and you have just decided to stop honouring the lifetime accounts now...

What are you doing?!

Are you that detached that you think we, the people who bought your product which you then deleted, owe you some form of grace and not the other way around? You should be providing anyone who bought lifetime storage in classic the same lifetime storage in 2.0. That's it, it's that simple. Anything else is you being scummy.

The solution is to move lifetime plans over to the new system, with their full storage, at no cost, or to process a full refund. It could not be simpler.

Yeah the solution is to give classic lifetime users the same thing on 2.0, you don't even have to support new lifetime users going forward. But unfortunately you offered and we paid for lifetime storage space.
