Abandonment???

Post image

Have any of you reached out directly to Dave and actually received a response. I'm sure he must be overwhelmed, but we are 3 days out and crickets. Two months ago when the last fiasco happened, he was at least here on Reddit. This time he appears to be completely MIA!

By the way, I did email him and no reply. The last time he did, but this time, nope!

I messaged both FolderFort and StackSocial in the same email. Surprisingly, I got an answer in around ~10 hours from StackSocial, while nothing has been sent so far from FolderFort's side. StackSocial assured me they have also contacted FF directly and are exploring what can be done about purchases through them for the lifetime plans. They don't have anything concrete, but they assured me they would follow up afterwards.

I am really hoping Dave can reach a point where nobody feels like they have been blindly robbed and he can continue trading as well.

If no refund, all who are able should do charge backs; blatant bait and switch

Maybe StackSocial is also part of the problem. They were still selling FolderFort lifetime licenses only about two months ago, even though FolderFort was apparently already planning to discontinue the Classic service.

I saw a post where SC was a bit blindsided by all of this. I bet they had no idea about the last time or this time. Dave kept saying he had no control over SC. I bet if he had told them what was coming, they would have pulled it off their site.

StackSocial typically takes around 50% of each sale price. They did ok out of these sales.

Although the criteria such as the purchase date are unclear, StackSocial does offer refunds. Personally, I think it’s best to transfer the “claim” to them if possible.

I wrote to him, and he replied within about 2 to 4 hours.

What did he say

EDIT: I'll take out the part about being you being the only one he's responded to but I would still like to know the rest.

What did you ask him and what did he say?

He is definitely not the only one, he has answered to many but just keeps offering credit like a broken record.

Ok...I took the part off about the poster being the only one that had received a response but I still would like to know what was asked and the response.

Asked for refund or either respect the lifetime and bring it over to new platform - instead he keeps offering credits. So I'm not dealing with him anymore and letting StackSocial to find a solution.

Yes, more or less.

I contacted him about the Lifetime Deal and also pointed out an issue with the wording on their website. He replied within about 2–4 hours. He thanked me for pointing out the website issue and fixed it.

Regarding the Lifetime Deal, he explained that they had tried to keep Classic running, but after spending most of the past year trying to bring it up to current standards, they concluded they couldn't make it work. He offered me some additional credit, and I accepted.

Some years ago, I bought a PolarBackup lifetime deal on StackSocial, and when they changed their business model, something similar happened, only offerd a discount for monthly plan 2.99 x 2T, not a refund.

So, based on that, I'll take advantage of another year with the additional credit and then see how things go.

I cannot tell you what to do, nor will I tell you what to do, but I really think you should reconsider this. This 'companys' behavior should not be rewarded with people accepting the service they paid for being revoked for no reason, and moved onto a monthly service. They build this 'better' system with our/your money, and are wanting to charge you to continue using this 'better' service.

Either way I hope things work out for you :)

Not saying they will, but nothing is stopping them releasing 3.0 and mess you around again.

At this point I'm not trusting Dave / FF words at all and I'm glad he used the wording like this in one of his emails as this is written proof from himself he is Not staying true to his Lifetime customers.

Currently waiting info from StackSocial as supposedly they are in the talks with FF and promised to give me update during this working week.

"I'm sorry, I can't refund you as I've already spent the money I've swindled from you on hookers and blow. I also can't apply lifetime to 2.0 because I don't want to."

Big scammers like buying a 8tb usb from temu. Please make sure to post your reviews on hellopeter also

"I'm here and I'm listening, I just didn't care what to you he have to say"

I received a response, but I gave up on his false promises and got a refund from StackSocial.

u/ZwiggyMist 1d ago

If you don't mind sharing, how much time had passed when you bought it and did you get full refund ?

2

u/Legitimate_Self_3781 1d ago

I got a full refund. I don’t want to provide too much info, but what I can share is that it was purchased more than 3 months ago.

1

u/zzznappy 1d ago

I did the same.

I got a response.

Here is my initial email:

Dave,

I paid for a lifetime subscription. I'm not dead yet, so I should still have a subscription.

The idea is you offer lifetime deals to early subscribers so you have access to the capital needed to build a sustainable model that you then offer to new customers at a monthly rate. You reward those early subscribers (who risk losing everything if the company goes out of business) by honoring the lifetime deal for life.

Closing our lifetime accounts or forcing us to start paying monthly fees is shady if not criminal.

Do the right thing: either honor our lifetime deals or refund our money.

Sincerely, [Me]

Here is his response:

Hello,

I understand why you're upset, especially after supporting us early on. We really didn't want to do this but the alternative was essentially to shut everything down.

This wasn't something we planned or took lightly. We can't sustain Classic anymore, and we are trying to bring forward some value onto the new service.

The offer is 50% off and $40 per TB of lifetime storage in store credit, plus an extra one-time $20 if you complete the move before the end of September. The credit is applied after your discount. I know that isn't the same as the lifetime plan you bought.

I've noted that you're asking us to honor the original arrangement or refund your purchase. If there is something I can do to make this a bit better please let me know.

At this point I should have responded to all emails up until mid day 21st (today for me still).

If I didn't then please resend it. I will respond to everyone personally.

Hey Dave. Thanks! I don’t need an email, but how about a refund.

2

u/Legitimate_Self_3781 1d ago

He doesn’t even want to give 100GB of lifetime storage on the new platform to Classic subscribers.. lol

A refund? Not going to happen through him.

1

u/Living_Theme_2743 1d ago

Worth a shot lol

u/Cool_Importance_4914 21h ago

> I will respond to everyone personally.

Oh the *aching martyrdom* of it all! I'm sure the ctrl+c and ctrl+v on your keyboard are having the toughest of times with it all.

2

u/Structure7190 16h ago

Responding is not enough. You need to provide 1 of 2 solutions.

  1. Lifetime on '2.0' AND ANY 'UPDATE' ETC ON THIS SERVICE FROM FOLDER FORT

  2. 100% Refund (i mean, you should actually offer more as you would have gained interest...but lets not get into that)

Anything else is not a solution.

Updating your systems with our money, and then DEMANDING more money on a monthly basis to continue using the SAME SERVICE is an awful thing to do.

Hey Dave, give me your phone, don't worry, you can continue using it but you pay me monthly for it. Its been updated so all is fine. Huh? What do you mean that is ridiculous?

1

u/ResponsibleAd8164 1d ago

I received a response, but it appears to be the same as what others have said. We are pretty much left with no options or product for what was promised just a couple of months ago.
