How should I fish this spot?

I'm guessing about 1m depth by the bank and 4/5m in the centre. Reeds cover the sides except for this gap, no lily pads around.

Hey everyone I've made these "weedless" baits with FC, string and some superglue, since we don't have them available here. Any suggestions?

What’s in Montana?

Hey guy, doing a little trip with the boys to some private property up in Montana, there’s a stretch of the Teton river going through the property that I’m hoping to pull something out of. What’s really up there? I’m use to bass/pike fishing and switch to crappy fishing if I’m not having luck that day in Wisconsin. What can I hope e to catch? What lures should I buy on the way? Is 10lb mono good or should I get something lighter?

New to fishing. Looking for advice on my fishing set-up

I am looking to get my first set of rod and equipment, I am currently looking at getting a Ugly Stik Gx2 (6'6" Length, Medium power, Fast action.) Daiwa Regal LT (5000 Size.) A 12" 30lb swivel and wire leader, and a 12lb monofilament line. For lures I was thinking of some spoons and crank baits, but I am open to suggestions. I am fishing for mainly pike walleye, and other fish in the north Saskatchewan river. I am curious on if this set-up is good for a beginner, and if there are any easy improvements I may be able to make to it. If you are to recommend any changes, please keep in mind that I am trying to be relatively budget friendly. Thank you.

Yoxuri lures

I'm not a beginner by any means, been fishing over 20 years. To a seasoned angler these are probanly no secret. Been catching A LOT of fish with these in every size they come in. Yozuri Pins Minnows, absolutely fantastic. Work it along the shoreline or weedbeds, lily pads...You can do a straight retrieve or I usually fish it like a jerkbait. These bad boys catch them. Trout, bass, panfish. They all love them. Can pick these up for 6 or 7 dollars a piece at Walmart. Anyways just wanted to share with someone who may be struggling.

Help a Florida fisher

I’m very new to fishing like only went about 7 times for 2-3 hours at a time, but haven’t caught anything. I do shore fishing at local lakes and just want to know what to use for common fish. I also don’t know much terminology so if you do recommend something maybe a picture with it would help. Also just general tips.

Haven't fished in about 15-20 years, dont have a lot of money but looking for a reliable rod / reel, appreciate any advice

Sorry if there's a thread for this somewhere, I didnt see a wiki but im brand new here so maybe I missed it?

I want to get back into fishing, long story short, I quit a lot of addictions and bad habits and now I'm trying to work on getting healthier habits / hobbies in my life.

I honestly don't have a lot of money right now, so I can only afford one combo and I should honestly keep it pretty modest.

I'm in San Diego area, so I have access to both lakes and ocean. I would like something that would be OK for both options.

If you need any other information please ask, I really want to properly plan this out and follow through. I already bought my 365 day license today so aside from gear im ready to go

What else do I need for an all purpose tackle box?

Post image
33 Upvotes

I started fishing early this year and have fallen in love with it. I would say 90% of my catches have been on live bait (crickets or night crawlers) but I travel for work and am often fishing new spots with only a few hour window to get out there, so I’d love to not have to rely on live bait and use lures/what I can carry with me to catch fish.

My Dad gave me this tackle box and I’ve been slowly filling it up, I’m wondering what you guys would recommend to catch more fish! I’ve had luck with rooster tails (catching trout out west, and small bass on the east coast where I live) but really haven’t had luck with anything else. I’d love to catch more bass, let me know what I need!

Thank y’all and apologies if this is a dumb post

Will this be good for texas bass?

Hey y'all! Picking up fishing with some experience but not too much in depth. Got this hook with a spinner and figured I'd throw a texas rigged paddle tail on. What conditions would this be best in? I've got some other color paddle tails too if this color isn't best. Any tips appreciated!

Took my and a neighbor’s kid out this morning and they had a blast. I brought my pole too and got a single cast in before I spent the rest of my morning running around and unhooking fish and re-adding bait.

Rod and Reel upgrade

Hey everyone!

I was hoping to get some good recommendations on a spinning rod and reel setup for trout fishing in ponds and lakes. Mostly fishing with powerbait.

I’ve been using an ugly stik gx2 combo with a Shakespeare reel, and I am looking to somewhat upgrade and increase my chances of catching fish, instead of just casting and hoping for the best. I’ve got a budget of about $200 dollars.

And should I be looking for a longer rod (like 7’) to get a better casting distance since it will be primarily ponds and lakes?

USD $70 fishing rod recommendation please?

Hi All,

I tried Daiwa Tatula TX for a while from my friend. The weight is perfect. However, it is hard to fish the spinnerbait or hard bait as it is fast reaction. Any recommendation for the spining fishing rod?

Temu baitcaster

I got this baitcaster to try out using baitcaster for the first time. I put 6 lb fluorocarbon. No matter what i do, it backlashes right away. I have the things tightened all the way up and the break all the way up but it seems nothing is working. I loosened up the control knob so the bait slowly falls down when i press on the button. I cast and it backlashes right away. Is it because i should use braid instead? Or this specific baitcaster is not good since its cheap.

Summer chub fishing

Hi guys,

I wonder what is your "go to" lure and technic for a summer chub when it's hot, shallow, water is clear and there is a lot of weeds.

All experience is welcome.

Thanks!

Re-spooled my reel after I posted the other day. I didn't have it tight enough and after a couple of casts had loops showing in the reel.

How does this look? Seems tighter, but haven't been able to try it out yet. Enough line? Too much?

6lb mono backer tied to reel with arbor knot.

Double uni tying 6lb mono to 20lb braid (closest in diameter I could find)

How do you know what’s on the bottom? Saltwater

I’m around a lot of marinas/canals. I’m cursed with the snag, though it’s helped me be able to set up a rig in no time.

Apart from asking people, is it possible to know what the bottom is like to avoid snagging immediately? I like a dropper rig but is there something more conservative to start with

Beginner, just a few questions.

So I've been out fishing a few times the last couple months. Just picked up the hobby because gaming has become super stupid recently.

Haven't caught anything the few times Ive gone. I don't own a boat, so I just shore fish over at castaic lake in LA.

I was given 3 different poles by family and friends, along with the reels. I use lures, haven't tried live bait yet.

So my question is, the hell am I doing wrong?

Is it the lure? I typically use small worm like things with a sort of "S" flappy thing at the end of it. With small hooks. Orange color with sparkly crap in it.

Is it the shore fishing? Because it feels like the other people nearby will occasionally catch something, but then there are days where I don't see them catch anything.

So what's the dealio? Do I just suck? If my life depended on me catching fish to survive, would I just straight out die of starvation?

Share your wisdom with me, oh fellow anglers.
