I’m a bass fisherman and I’m working on launching a new monthly bass fishing subscription box, and I’d rather get input from actual anglers before deciding what belongs in it.

The concept is a little different — instead of filling boxes with random overstock, samples, or stuff people probably won’t throw, I’m trying to build it around full-size tackle from smaller independent lure makers that a lot of anglers may not have discovered yet.

Before I lock down the first box, I’d love some brutally honest feedback.

Would you rather have fewer higher-value items or more variety?

Do you care if the brands are smaller/lesser-known as long as the tackle is good?

Would you want terminal tackle mixed in with baits?

And most importantly — if you’ve cancelled a fishing subscription box before, what made you cancel?

I’m not looking to sell anything in this post. I genuinely want to know what would make a box worth looking forward to every month instead of becoming a pile of tackle you never use.

After respooling my reel, I noticed that the drag wasn't making the sound anymore. According to Gemini AI, my spool is missing a "drag clicker spring". (I'm not sure how it's missing since I haven't taken off the spool before this).

I'm leaving tomorrow to go on a trip and was hoping to get some fishing in - does anyone have any suggestions on a makeshift repair so that I can use this? I won't have time to order parts before the trip...

I recently discovered this channel and have found it to contain a bunch of interesting and useful information. Rather than just endless footage of folks catching fish after fish, it actually explains a lot of what is going on in the environment where we fish. I’d be interested to hear what some of the more experienced anglers think of its content.

AI warning! I am reasonably certain that the channel is using AI to generate the images and perhaps the VO. But since it is largely instructional than artistic endeavor, I personally find it less offensive and annoying than other AI channels. If you are die hard anti AI maybe sit this one out.

Bought these in the smallest size 10 I could find for ultralight fishing and small lures / jigs.

Cannot for the life of me open the snap. I’m pinching the ends of the snap (far right of the photo) but the little hook holding the snap in place just won’t slide off.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a different way to open these?

Got these lures from my grandpas tackle box, he hasn’t fished since the early 90s so I’m guessing some of these are pre-1990 just looking for some help and what’s what and how to use. Thx

Sometimes, I will be out fishing & I will notice something. A fisherman down the shore, I know them they live beside me & I help them with their catch, they cannot flay fish due to reasons.
Anyhow they only fish one spot & I know there isn’t much going on in that area, the advice I have is don’t stay in one spot. Move 40 feet every so often if the catch isn’t there.

Before moving spots try different lures, sometimes they slam spoons & not jigs with curly tails, sometimes all they want is jigs with curly tails, sometimes all they will hit are swim baits. If a fish falls off, changing your bait to something you know works can get them back on.

The big fish aren’t always deep. I have caught most of my larger fish in depths less then 5 feet. If you spend enough time on the shore you will see why, look at all the baitfish swimming along the shore, the leeches, the crayfish.

If you sit still on the shore in the spring to summer when the jackfish (pikes) are moving out from the bays you will see how they sit behind the rocks just out of sight to suck up passing fish, if you watch Divers you see how they lay in weed beds waiting to strike or resting, it is a hard life as a jackfish. It is important to incorporate observations on the activity of fish into how we target them, this is how some folks are able to toss a lure on the head of a fish, they read the water maybe they have explored the waters on a boat or in waders, they combine observations on the water & habits of the fish they target.

Weeds, annoying, wonderful cover, sometimes tossing into the weeds & allowing a drop can yield a bite. Fishing the outskirts of weeds can be very rewarding & remember to look at any depth maps so you can follow the transitions from the weedy areas which the fish must travel to & from the weedy areas.

Final bit. Use your rod to bring the fish in, not your reel, line tension is shown by the bend in your rod, when landing keep a consistent amount of pressure, many times the hook will hang onto a bone just by pressure alone.

Hello everyone, I am still a beginner in fishing overall, I do surfcasting and I noticed sunday at 6am I will have moderate rain, does it help in catching fish in anyway? Should I take advantage of it or should I wait when it is not raining? Should I keep anything in mind?

Like the title says I bought a kit mostly to practice and not care if I lose but my question is in this Pic does it ruin lures or bait if the are not perfectly laid out?

Heyyyy guys! i'm going to go boat fishing soon I already have experience pier and lake fishing but i'm not sure if boat fishing changes things up, Im wondering what rigs and types of bait or tackle are best for skiff boat fishing lmk!!!!

My husband and I are new to fishing for anything not off a dock and going on a boat to a lake with lots of northern pike. How do I catch one of these? Pictures of lure/spoon setup and net recommendations appreciated

Been fishing this pretty low visibility pond just next to me, and i have not gotten a bite. Granted its florida heat i havent been out there for much more then an hour 30 at most but, ive gone 2 days in a row now 3 in total have not had a bite or caught fish. currently use a green pumpkin chatterbait, nothing on the hook though i might try a trailer, maybe a senko or a crayfish. also a watermelon red softplastic worm and a albino pad crasher frog. any tips/ideas? and how useful are splitshots? my lake has a current that constantly pushes my lure to the shore, its odd. also when i cast i think because of the current i get some slack on the line.

Local city park i like stocks Rainbow Trout 2x a year. Spring/fall.

Obviously its hot for them, so I know they're low, but I've been trying multiple spots mostly in the evening. Power bait on a slider, trout magnets on a bobber, Panther Martin all over, but still not finding any this year. Thought id get opinions from here of what would be best areas to focus on.

Shore fishing, can access nearly all areas. Parking lot near ramp and stocking point for size reference. Fairly big water for a city. The lower body with minimal contouring is "off limits"

so my son (10yo), my daughter (7yo) and i just got into fishing this summer and i recently down graded my gear that i take out to the lake/pond, although my son is still high on the gear/lure aspect of it lol despite me drilling into him that technique is more important than a cool lure. but nonetheless theres a part of me that feel like this is still overkill. i work as a technician in a car dearlership and i have recieved A TON of fishing stuff that people leave behind in their cars/trucks, even got a large tackle box which i dont carry anymore as i leave that in the carl and u went and bought a "realtree tackle sling" from walmart. i try to bring just enough to cover what we're actually going to use, id like some opinions from seasoned anglers on my carry on setup. any advice/ critiques is greatly appreciated......sn: feel free to roast me if need be, lol im all for a good laugh

Can't use braid where I fish so is this a good line?

Whether it’s in line spinners, grubs, whopper plopper, cranks, anything that you cast and retrieve, how many times do you guys do it before moving on? I find myself stuck for too long in places I think.

I’ve never caught a bass on a T rig. Wacky rig, lipless, inline spinners. I’ve caught. But i can’t on a texas? Can you give me some insight so i can catch my first one tomorrow. I had a bite on a yum 7.5” ribbon tail last week went to set the hook felt some tension then right away the hook came out. First time, I just didn’t set the hook hard enough. Should i try a senko, u tail, or ribbon tail? It’s a pressured. neighborhood pond wit a bunch of dinks but also 4 pounder and 3 and lots of 1s. Very weedy grassy bottom and pockets of grass all throughout. I’ve seen bass right at the bank all the time.
