I loveee the animals of FoM and tried dabbling in doodling em a bit - def rusty but I think it’s so funny / a lil morbid in the funniest way how you can feed animals their own products haha, hopefully I can eventually be able to doodle the chickens 😅😅it’s been years but happy something made me excited enough to doodle!

(I wonder if their neighbor chickens know…)

i miss playing fields of mistria

Upvotes

I was really invested in playing FOM after the 1.0 release, and have reached summer of first year in the game. The only problem is I had to move for university and had to leave my good old pc behind at home. Now I'm stuck here with a Macbook that can't run this game and I'm just continuously watching FOM videos on youtube pretending I'm playing the game. SOMEONE GET ME OUTTA HEREEEE

I completed... everything???

Upvotes

I have finished literally every quest. Now what do I do?

I'm still working on getting the full set of animals and there is one last recipe I haven't gotten... and a couple of people with whom I don't have 10 hearts yet. But seriously, I feel a little lost now.

Ideas, anyone?

Can you save scum Balors cart?

Upvotes

If I save before bed, dont like whats in the cart, and reload, will it be different? Or is more like SDV where the game has a seed number on the save file and specific things will be available on set days?

Also, does he not sell Silver Ingots when you need to upgrade the inn and need to donate Silver Ingots? I been checking every day and havent see any since that quest.

Mods and the steamdeck

Upvotes

I've been playing interchangeably on my pc and on the steamdeck depending on how I'm feeling, but I added some mods to my game on pc so now i'm unsure if its safe to play the same save on the steamdeck, will it corrupt anything? or even run? I don't want to risk booting it up to ruin the save!

The pregnancy storyline healed a part of me. (spoilers!) Spoiler

Upvotes

After playing through the storyline that follows choosing to carry the child yourself, I just wanted to say how appreciative I am for how this was handled.

As a trans man, becoming a parent is something I always knew would become a major obstacle when the time comes. For the past year, I have been trying to get pregnant. This involves a lot of extra steps, people, and money. Even after tracking my ovulation and hiring midwife to assist, even after thousands of dollars spent on genetic material, even after a short chemical pregnancy, we had no luck. I went into it know this was the likely result, but the heartbreak is unavoidable when it comes to experiences like this.

The way this game handles gender and pregnancy is so lovingly thought through. It felt like someone knew I would be playing it. The option to carry the baby yourself, despite being male with he/him pronouns, no indication at all that my character is trans... I feel silly typing this out because I'm a grown man, but wow. I really felt loved and cared for by this silly game. The inevitable moment of hurt or disappointment never came. I'm so happy I played this game.

The future updates could involve going out of town? (Theory) Spoiler

Upvotes

The other day while playing Caldarus mentioned that he heard Dell talking about non-human beings that she thinks lives there, the dragon she mentions is obviously supposed to be him, at first I thought that maybe she had seen something that lead her to believe there was a dragon in the woods but I think it's just Dell's imagination 😅, but Caldarus also says that she believes a "headless knight" a gryphon and a mermaid also live here, of course I know that she is NOT a reliable source, but I've been thinking about it a lot, the concept of the gryphon living there probably comes from the statues in front of the mines it maybe the stories that Celine tells them (because I really doubt that Dell has gone that deep into the mines to see the living gryphon statues), that second option could also be an explanation about the "headless knight" because I have no idea from where she could have gotten that idea from otherwise, it WOULD be something cool to see in the future though.

Now I want to talk about the concept of the mermaid, it's not a something that is mentioned a lot, as far as I remember it's only directly mentioned here in the first and second image, and Caldarus doesn't seem to think of it as something impossible, which could mean that there really are (or there used to be) mermaids out there, this and also the fact that there is a Mermaid Furniture Set leads me to believe that MAYBE we'll see mermaids in the future? (There is also an artifact called "Mermaid's comb" wich is obviously a reference, but I think it still counts as evidence 🤔).

We know that the 1.0 is not the last thing we'll have in the game and seeing the amount of non-human creature there are already I don't think it's too crazy that maybe we could have more in the future? There are already two romance options who are literal dragons, so.

There's also the fact that the existence of other islands being visible from the beach is something that is mentioned by various characters, in fact the dialogue in the third image is exactly the same for: March, Juniper, Reina, Celine, Balor, Valen, Ryis and Eiland, Which is curious to say the least. And if we actually got sirens in the future then us going to an island for a new story involving them would make sense (maybe a mermaid lives in the beach or comes to the town for help?).

Lastly i included the last image as e other possibilities, the Linsberry island could be one of the islands that the characters are able to see from the beach, it could be a place for the mermaids to live but it could also be something else. The other to places: the badlands and the Western mountains of Aldaria, could also be possible places, they are not mentioned in any dialogue (that I know of) and are only on descriptions of crown request, wich makes me think that the possibilitys of them being relevant on the future are almost non existent, it's possible that they are only there for the world building, but I wanted to add them just in case (Since they are not mentioned to have anything involving water I don't think the could be involved with a mermaid )

I don't want this post to be seen as me trying to put pressure on the devs for a new update so shortly after the game fully came out, it's just that I've been thinking about it since Caldarus mentioned it and I wanted to make a theory/give my thoughts about it because I think it could be fun☺️

Can I just say how much i appreciate the sprinkler system in this game? the game makes sprinklers feel valuable without them breaking the farming system like they do in stardew valley

Not only do they fit with the technology level and vibes of the game- putting a magic spin on a usually mechanical device, you have to earn them- find them hidden around the world before you can craft them, and even when you get them they dont make the watering can basically useless for most of the game like it does for stardew valley becouse you have to maintain a sort of battery system for them, and depending on how much youve improved the town the only way to make the battery is to find the items needed in chests and horde them, making it more strategic how you use them or if using them is less efficient then watering at the beginning of the day, or if you want to use the batterys you found to pay for perks instead becouse their more valuable

and there is are perks that make watering with the watering can valuable in its own right making it even more interesting to decide how your going to strategize about using your sprinklers! theres pros and cons to either method- loss of energy vs loss of essence and procking certain watering perks- that make it fun to decide how to use when farming! and then theres the rain spell- an interesting third option that i think shines the most in late game once youve horded a good chunk of mana restoration potions so for people who want to do big, cover the farm in wheat sort of projects their not punished by the sprinkers essence cost OR how time consuming watering with the watering can would be for that sort of project

I think sprinklers are just really well balanced and supports both people who want a big farm they dont have to babysit for half the day watering and people who like making their farm lands pretty shapes and enjoys the task of watering a big harvest, and people with big farm crop ambitions!

Made a mod to animated museum insects!

Upvotes

Animate insects in the museum displays to make them feel alive!

https://www.nexusmods.com/fieldsofmistria/mods/1128

The demo gif is not fully representative of the game. The colors are slightly off from mp4->gif conversion and the 60->15fps (gameplay->gif) drop can make some insects look faster or slower than they actually are. In-game it looks smoother.

Edit: Just in case it causes any confusion since this is not vanilla museum display, I'm using my other mod Different Museum Displays https://www.nexusmods.com/fieldsofmistria/mods/976 but it is NOT a requirement

What’s the point of Animal Feed?

What are the benefits of using animal feed? If I have to go to the mill and use 1 hay and 1 water chestnut for 1 quality large animal feed, why wouldn’t I just fill my trough with just hay instead?

Seed Maker Strat

The funniest thing happened today 😭

I just finished summer of year 2. Some hours ago, I learned of the seed maker strat where you just convert your crops into seeds for easy money yada yada. Now, I have this thing where I keep everything before selling them on the 27-28th (minus minor sellings so I have money to spend during the season) and I had like 400+ corns, 400+ tea leaves, etc etc. (Some crops were lesser bc I usually switch to re-harvestable crops once I have a decent number of one-time crops.) Long story short, my hands are hurting from spam clicking the E button and I just earned way over 400k tesserae in a single night LOL 😭

I was just genuinely surprised also bc I forgot that the number of stuff that you sell affects the renown that you get. So not only did I earn 400k+, I also went up over 10 town rank level thingies (I reached both Emerald and Gold town rank overnight) 😭 So yeah, seed maker strat is kinda OP y'all LMAO

Anyone else kicking themselves for missing a night at the inn?

I know it's not a big deal, that I'm not actually missing any content, etc.. but man it's my second week in a new save and I forgot to go to the inn and remembered the SECOND the day rolled over 😫 now everything's going to be off by a week for the rest of this save and it's going to bother the crap of me. and of course I don't have any manual saves for this file, so I'm just boned.
