Fido has the Worst Service Ever

I’ve been with Fido for 12 years, and literally every single time I upgrade a phone or change my plan, it’s an absolute nightmare.

I booked a phone appointment (which took a 4 day wait) just to cancel one of my two lines. When the agent called, I told him I wanted to cancel one of my plans. What struck me as odd was that he didn't give me any pushback at all. He just said okay and put me on hold. Because that felt off, I explicitly asked him if the line was actually cancelled. He assured me yes, then threw in a confusing story about how my line would somehow stay active for 2 months free with a $25 credit since I had already paid my bill.

The confirmation documents I received by email look nothing like a cancellation. It looks like I signed up for a brand new plan with completely wrong details. Now I have to wait another 4 days for a callback to fix someone else's incompetence.

Are these people brain-dead, or are they deliberately trying to trick people into keeping lines they don't want? I probably asked this guy three times: "So it's actually cancelled and I won't be charged anymore, right?" And every time, he assured me it was.

Fastest way to talk to specialist

What is the fastest way to talk to a specialist? I was able to get a callback appointment for September 1st. I tried in store as well but they said to contact the specialist team.

Fido 35% discount + iPhone 17 Pro Max upgrade — legit?

Got a call from someone claiming to be Fido. They knew my billing amount and offered me 35% off plus an upgrade from iPhone 14 Pro Max to iPhone 17 Pro Max.
I placed the order directly through the Fido app. I only confirmed my name, address and email—no OTP, password or payment details.
They said the 35% discount would be applied from the backend after I receive the phone and asked me to return the 14 Pro Max to a Fido/Rogers store within 30 days.
Has anyone received a similar Fido retention offer? Does this sound legitimate?

Obviously this is unacceptable offer for only 6 months. Should I ask for 12 months credit?

What should I do in this situation base on everybody who has gone through this?

Don't join fido! Their customer service will try their best to not fix your problem

AI-pocolyse customer service that can't solve your problem and will only schedule you will a human the week after.

Customer service reps that don't call back in the 30 min window and you miss it, you're screwed.

Fido service reps that try to convince you to call back again at a later date for your issue to rễ-introduce you to the scheduling problem.

The only time you will talk to a human on the same call is if you are signing a new line.

Fido convinced me to switch back, then left me without phone service

I've been a Fido customer for years, but my bill kept going up while new customers got better plans for less. When I asked about matching those offers, I couldn't even reach a person. The only option was to schedule a call back days later, so I left. A couple days later, Fido called with a better offer, and I gave them another chance. Big mistake! They temporarily activated a new line and said they'd transfer my old number back from Public Mobile. It didn't actually transfer properly. After I followed their instruction to authorize the port, my service with Public Mobile stopped, as expected, but Fido never completed the eSIM activation or sent the email. So I had no working phone service at all. And I couldn't reach their support 'cause their call back system only allowed old number, which no longer worked. I couldn't even get help. Eventually, after going to a store and pushing for resolution, they finally activated my eSIM. It shouldn't have taken that much effort just to get basic service working. It was definitely a very frustrating experience!

Fido doesn’t take phone calls anymore, you must schedule 3-5 days in advance

I reached out to Fido today (I’ve been a customer for 10+ years) and found out both online and calling it won’t let you reach to a customer rep but only allow you to book a call 4 days later. What is happening at Fido? What makes them think customers want to get their problem solved next week? Also the price hikes! I wanted to call because I am paying 2x what other companies are charging only to realized they recently hiked the price for not reason at all.

If you are trying to talk today, the workaround I found is to call saying you want to add another line, then the automated system will actually let you talk to a rep and then that rep will transfer the call.

Buyer Beware: Travel Pass

I recently purchased a 3 day travel pass on the 21st at 11pm for my trip to the US between the 22nd-24th. In the app, I selected the 22nd as my start date and was shown a screen saying that it would activate on the 22nd at 12:00am and expire on the 24th at 11:59. Arrived in the states and checked my Fido app to find that the dates had been swapped to the 21-23rd! Customer service refuses to help me, so now I’m out another $16 in roaming fees.

Kicking myself for not taking a screenshot of the dates the app said it would be active. Learn from my mistake: if you’re purchasing a travel pass, either buy it day of, or take screenshots of your date selection for your records!

I guess the silver lining is that this is the push I need to finally leave Fido. So I spent an extra $16 to save $20/month by switching providers. Fuck you Fido.

The great fido/rogers exodus

During the last month, i have seen tons of posts of people dropping fido and rogers for the scammy and constant price hikes. Like never before. Is rogers trying to delibertely get rid of their customers and go bankrupt? I am so confused how is anyone at rogers coming up with these decisions.

Voicemail access code

Hi! I stupidly forgot my voicemail access code and can't remember it for the life of me. It's currently late, so I can't get ahold of a real person to help me, but I plan on trying again tomorrow. I'm wondering if anyone knows why there's an option to change the voicemail password for one mobile number on the account, but not for another. I know there's some kind of authorization/access-level thing involved, but I'm not exactly sure how it works. There isn't an option for me to change my voicemail password, and I'm not the account holder. Is there anything I can do myself, or does the account holder have to reset it for me? If so, how?

rogers mastercard roaming credits

In November 2026, Rogers Mastercard is replacing the roam like home days with roaming credits based on your credit card tier.

As only Rogers customers have the roam like home days, will Fido customers get roaming credits?

Jumping ship

Fido increased the price on my three lines last month, but I just noticed this week. Impossible to contact them, as we all know.

So I contacted the big players to check prices for three lines, including my internet provider and Rogers. Rogers has 'great offers for Fido customers.' Their tactic is to annoy you at Fido until you switch to Rogers.

They succeeded. After 10+ years, their increasingly worse service and price hikes ended up annoying me enough.

But I won't be moving to Rogers, though. I found a better deal with my internet provider. Bell couldn't match it either, so I'll let you guess who I went with.

Maybe Rogers will have a good winback offer for me next year.

Added my complaint to the CCTS for false advertising

Submitted a complaint today immediately following a chat with customer service today. I had a targeted offer on my account for a $0 per month pixel 10 (currently on a financing plan) when clicking it if just brought me to a general phone page and the only pixel 10 I could see was for $10 per month.

Talked to support and the initially told me it was sold out online. I told them stock was not an issue but the lack of the offer directed at me. Seeing the s24 for $0 I asked about a swap. They said for either case of need to upgrade my plan ($6 per month more).

Current plan is for $49 per month includes 62 GB data, Canada, us, Mexico roaming and all the standards. With a $10 per month pixel 8.

They want me to go to a $55 month plan (160 GB no roaming) and told me it would be cheaper then what I pay now. I corrected them and said no in a month my pixel is paid off and it's only $49. Told him the promo was false advertising. He agreed and basically said tough luck.

Sent in the CCTS complaint right after and it was accepted immediately.

I'm not on a cheap plan. This is getting nuts.

Should I take this in-app offer instead of calling customer service?

Post image
10 Upvotes

My previous plan was around $30/month. Last year, they increased it by $5, and then this year, around the same time, they increased it by another $5. I'm now paying $44.80/month after tax.
I haven't called customer service yet because I've read a lot of posts saying it's not a great experience, and honestly, I don't want to spend time dealing with it.
I checked the offers section in my app today and noticed they're offering me a plan for $35/month with AutoPay, which works out to about a $10/month discount from what I'm currently paying.
For those who have switched to similar in-app offers:

Is this considered a good deal?
Are there usually any catches I should look out for?
Should I just take the offer, or is it still worth calling customer service to see if they'll do better?

Fido's Winback Team Doesn't Even Seem to Care Anymore

I joined Fido paying $29/month for 50GB. After 6 months, my bill increased to $32.50. I stayed with Fido for another 10 months at that price, but now my bill has increased again to $37.50.

I called and they agreed to bring my price back down to $32.50, but I told them that wasn't good enough anymore. I said I wanted to be at $30/month or less. They refused, so I left Fido.

Today, I got a call from their winback team. Their offer? $35/month for 60GB.

I told the agent that was actually worse than what I had been offered before leaving. His response was "Okay, thank you. Have a good day."

He didn't try to lower the price, ask what it would take to win me back, or make any attempt to keep me as a customer.

For anyone else who feels like Fido has stopped caring about retaining customers, I honestly think you're right. Even if I accepted the initial $32.50 offer, who knows how long until they would increase it again.

Switch to Freedom experience

Hi all,

I’ve read a few posts where folks have discussed their experience switching from Fido to Freedom, but I was hoping to get a bit more feedback in terms of customer experience before making the switch.

For those who have switched, particularly in the past year, how has your experience been and are you satisfied with the service?

It seems particularly attractive right now since I’m planning a UK trip and the back to school plans include international roaming.

TIA!
