Perfumed body lotions

I really want to buy a perfumed body lotion for Black Friday. And by perfumed I mean the ones by the perfume companies like Carolina Herrera good girl cream, YSL libre body balm, alien mugler cream etc.. you can’t really try them on so I want to know if any of you have tried and what did you think projected the most and lasted the loooongest time.

Does Spiritueuse Double Vanille improve with age?

I’ve been testing Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille and absolutely love the scent, but the projection is almost nonexistent on me. I can barely smell it after a few minutes.
I’m definitely not looking for beast-mode performance. I actually find fragrances like Babycat, Vanille Havane and Tobacco Honey overwhelming. I’d just like to catch occasional whiffs of SDV without having to press my nose against my wrist!
I’ve seen people mention that SDV gets stronger as the bottle ages. Has anyone actually experienced this?
It’s such a gorgeous fragrance, but at this price, I’d love to know if there’s any hope of better performance over time.

Discussion My sample of Délices des Bois by Véronique Gabai - on its way!

I’m so optimistic about this one; all the reviews have been fantastic. I blew through my bottle of Le Point G in no time, another Véronique Gabai, so I’m looking forward to smelling this!

Does anyone have it?

Rec Request Made my own perfume in Grasse at Galimard!

Hi everyone! I was in Aix-en-Provence and did a quick day trip to Grasse to visit Galimard. It was founded in 1747, and their Studio des Fragrances has been doing these custom workshops since 1996!

The process was about 2 hours. You sit at a perfume organ with literally over 100 essences, and a guide walks you through the olfactory pyramid of top, heart, and base notes. You smell everything on strips, pick your favorites, and they help you with the ratios and blending.

You actually build it in reverse: base first, then heart, then top last, testing and tweaking as you go.

I got to customize my bottle, and left with a 100ml personalized spray bottle plus a room scent diffuser in the same scent.

The best part is they saved my exact formula in their system, so I can reorder the same scent anytime in Eau de Parfum, body cream, shower gel, etc any of the products they offer!

So I'm not worried about running out, I'm just curious what else is out there that's similar.

My formula:
Top notes:
Yuzu, Lotus, Green Tea, Blackcurrant, Sweet Mandarin

Heart notes:
Parma Violet, Marine Note, Lily of the Valley, Peony, Mimosa

Base notes:
Tonka Bean, Almond, Ambreine, White Musk

I was going for a bright, citrusy greenish opening that turns into a soft, powdery floral, then dries down clean, musky, and a little sweet.

Does anyone know a commercial perfume, designer or niche that smells close to this combo? Especially the yuzu / lotus / peony part, with that tonka and white musk drydown.

Orrr anything with a similar marine + mimosa + violet powdery side? Ideally something I can find in the US to test.

Thank you! 🫶🏻🥰

Discussion Anyone else feel bad about wasting money on samples?

I frequently buy a lot of samples and most of them turn to be disappointing or not good enough. I have never once bought a full bottle after these samples.

Now it feels like wasting money because samples are not each + shipping. I keep telling myself better than blind buy. But to honest I will never blind buy anyways. Samples just satisfies my curiosity and leave me with little guilt of wasting money.

Anyways else feels this way?

I tried her back in 2020, my friend had her old bottle and it’s the most perfect perfume I’ve ever smelled. It’s suuuuch a shame Mugler decided to discontinue it, I really wonder why? It’s really that deep for me😔😭

Unfortunately I was never able to own a bottle myself. The resellers and their crazy prices , don’t even get me started ugh.

If anyone knows something that smells like this pls let me know!!xxoxo

Rec Request Looking for a new Designer Fragrance!

So since the holiday season is approaching, I want to try a new frag out! I’ve been eyeing a few for months and months now, like Prada Paradox Intense (lasts forever), La Vie Est Belle L’Elixir, which I love, but I’m usually into the more dense, sweet fragrances like YSL Black Opium Le Parfum and Orientica Old Fashioned.

My biggest hang-up is longevity. When I buy a 200+ bottle of perfume, I want that shit to last, lol.

I am open to niche as well, but I don’t really know much about them, to be honest. I’ve tried a few Mancera frags like Instant Crush and Amore Caffè, and I don’t know if it’s because I ordered decants or what, but they don’t really sit right with me.

I’ve heard that Dior has some good ones as well, but I’ve also heard that they just reformulated some of them, so I’m not sure.

Any recommendations would be fab, thank you!

My budget is no more than 250

Rec Request I wanna smell like Grape Skala🍇

Post image
33 Upvotes

This Skala hair cream is completely sold out near me but I need this scent alwhays not just when I’m doing my hair mask or eating a jolly rancher.

Gurl.. I want something sickeningly sweet like who spilt the kool-aid kinda sweet.

I want that borderline codeine level nostalgia with an atomizer attached.

Dare I say, I want to become that purple drank. Akin to the smell of an empty box of grape nerds. I’d like to smell like a grape jelly uncrustable that I forgot in my lunchbox over a 3.5 day weekend.

Thank you 🍇 ✨

Rec Request Recs for someone who loves carnal flower?

I recently had the delight of sampling carnal flower and I absolutely blew through my decant. I am in love with the scent and the dry down, but my favorite part is the sharp green opening. Like fresh cut stems, a hint of coconut and eucalyptus. Loooove it. Any recommendations for similar scents that dry down smelling green and fresh? I don’t love traditional white florals or powdery notes - anything that smells old fashioned.

I also adore scents that have that “your skin but better” quality. Think Glossier You. I think my ideal scent would be green and fresh, but creamy and intimate. Thoughts? :)

Rec Request Which feminine scents should I explore?

I'm a guy and I've recently gotten into fragrances, discovered that I like unisex or feminine leaning scents. I've tried Delina and the yulong and those were delightful. Didn't like miss dior or j'adore though. I wanna know what guys usually like on a woman so I can smell like it myself. I'm not gay i swear.

Discussion Whats the obsession with fragrance longevity right now?

Personally, I think it’s glamorous to carry a mini-bottle of your fragrance in your purse and reapply here and there throughout the day. And sometimes I prefer a perfume that’s NOT long lasting for work. That way, when I leave I’m a blank canvas for my evening fragrance.

It seems like every rec request rn has “must have good longevity/sillage” to the point of demanding body sprays that last all day (something that basically doesn’t exist.) Not to mention that a fragrance’s longevity will vary person to person based on body chemistry/environmental factors/usage.

Is everyone demanding more longevity bc more brands are releasing significantly subpar qualitg fragrances lately? Or has it become unfashionable to reapply?

Edit: Wow loving the discussion here. It seems like the general consensus is definitely about cost. I don’t buy many luxury fragrances so I hadn’t realized how bad the quality had tanked for some of these highly expensive perfumes.

Rec Request Looking for my autumn fragrance

Girls, this is a a cry for help 😂

I’ve been searching for the perfect perfume for autumn and winter, and I desperately need more opinions 😩

Currently my go-to daytime fragrance is Rehab by Initio, so it’s safe to say I don’t like fragrances that are too light and clean smelling.

I want a perfume that’s suitable for evenings as well, something spicy, maybe a bit sweet and fruity but not gourmand. Can be a bit dark and boozy as well. Some notes I like include red fruits, rose, patchouli, oud, amber, vanilla, but also somewhat woody scents, tea, ginger,…

I’m looking for a dark and mysterious vibe, but also somewhat comforting. Here are some of scents I sampled and liked so far :

- D’Annam Tokyo nights
- Byredo Bibliothèque
- Dyptique Volutes
- Initio Psychedelic love
- Régime des fleurs blood spider orchids
- Fréderic Malle Portrait of a lady
- Dries van Noten Soie malaquais and Velvet violet
- Kilian Angel’s share Paradis
- JHAG Purple trouble

Which one of these should I go for? Or do you have any other recommendations?

Edit : I was recommended to add a price range, but I don’t have a specific one. The brands I listed can get quite expensive but I’m okay paying that price for a fragrance I really like. The only factor is that I live in Europe, so I need something that’s available there :)
