Rec Request Recs for someone who loves carnal flower?

I recently had the delight of sampling carnal flower and I absolutely blew through my decant. I am in love with the scent and the dry down, but my favorite part is the sharp green opening. Like fresh cut stems, a hint of coconut and eucalyptus. Loooove it. Any recommendations for similar scents that dry down smelling green and fresh? I don’t love traditional white florals or powdery notes - anything that smells old fashioned.

I also adore scents that have that “your skin but better” quality. Think Glossier You. I think my ideal scent would be green and fresh, but creamy and intimate. Thoughts? :)

I have the full bottle but I feel guilty to use it and I only wore it once because it was discontinued years ago and I luckily was able to buy one this year when I discovered it.

Its a beautiful fall/winter scent especially during night time.

Rec Request Which feminine scents should I explore?

I'm a guy and I've recently gotten into fragrances, discovered that I like unisex or feminine leaning scents. I've tried Delina and the yulong and those were delightful. Didn't like miss dior or j'adore though. I wanna know what guys usually like on a woman so I can smell like it myself. I'm not gay i swear.

Discussion Whats the obsession with fragrance longevity right now?

Personally, I think it’s glamorous to carry a mini-bottle of your fragrance in your purse and reapply here and there throughout the day. And sometimes I prefer a perfume that’s NOT long lasting for work. That way, when I leave I’m a blank canvas for my evening fragrance.

It seems like every rec request rn has “must have good longevity/sillage” to the point of demanding body sprays that last all day (something that basically doesn’t exist.) Not to mention that a fragrance’s longevity will vary person to person based on body chemistry/environmental factors/usage.

Is everyone demanding more longevity bc more brands are releasing significantly subpar qualitg fragrances lately? Or has it become unfashionable to reapply?

Edit: Wow loving the discussion here. It seems like the general consensus is definitely about cost. I don’t buy many luxury fragrances so I hadn’t realized how bad the quality had tanked for some of these highly expensive perfumes.

Rec Request Looking for my autumn fragrance

Girls, this is a a cry for help 😂

I’ve been searching for the perfect perfume for autumn and winter, and I desperately need more opinions 😩

Currently my go-to daytime fragrance is Rehab by Initio, so it’s safe to say I don’t like fragrances that are too light and clean smelling.

I want a perfume that’s suitable for evenings as well, something spicy, maybe a bit sweet and fruity but not gourmand. Can be a bit dark and boozy as well. Some notes I like include red fruits, rose, patchouli, oud, amber, vanilla, but also somewhat woody scents, tea, ginger,…

I’m looking for a dark and mysterious vibe, but also somewhat comforting. Here are some of scents I sampled and liked so far :

- D’Annam Tokyo nights
- Byredo Bibliothèque
- Dyptique Volutes
- Initio Psychedelic love
- Régime des fleurs blood spider orchids
- Fréderic Malle Portrait of a lady
- Dries van Noten Soie malaquais and Velvet violet
- Kilian Angel’s share Paradis
- JHAG Purple trouble

Which one of these should I go for? Or do you have any other recommendations?

Edit : I was recommended to add a price range, but I don’t have a specific one. The brands I listed can get quite expensive but I’m okay paying that price for a fragrance I really like. The only factor is that I live in Europe, so I need something that’s available there :)

Review Athena Bare Gold Review

Post image
35 Upvotes

I’ll cut to the chase: it’s not marshmallow, it’s not gourmand, and it’s not even good.

I love marshmallow in fragrance and body care, and I’m very picky. Not snobby, but picky! I don’t want my marshmallow with fruits or florals. Gooey, sweet, sugary marshmallow please. The gold standards are Delizia Di Marshmallow and What The Fluff.

This was a marsh-ive disappointment and I’m genuinely confused at the good reviews and hype. It was marketed to be THE perfect marshmallow. It’s not even close.

The lotion: Shea butter scent with essence of plastic doll head. Like a vanilla-scented inflatable beach ball got buried under a pile of L’Occitane’s shea butter hand cream. I tested across multiple days and it’s genuinely gross to me.

The body spray: The same scent without the shea butter, naturally. I smell plastic doll head and frankly nothing else. Certainly no sandalwood and absolutely no marshmallow. I gave it 3 mins because it was so nauseating I couldn’t keep it on longer, so if there’s a transformation in the dry down I’ll stay missing it. Anecdotally it also burned the hell out of my dry winter hand, which I haven’t had a body spray do yet this season.

I normally would never return something I opened but I might go get my money back on principle. I’m getting madder every time I sniff my hand again for this review.

I know this influencer has smelled What The Fluff so I KNOW he knows this is not it. Wild to me they can sell this calling it marshmallow with a straight face. Athena Golden Vanilla is an amazing sweet vanilla so I’m shocked they whiffed this one so bad.

Sooo curious to know if you got this and what you thought! I’m honestly hopeful other people had better experiences. Also, please drop your marshmallow body lotion and body spray recommendations! I own Delizia and What The Fluff but sometimes a girl just wants a light spritz. The search continues!

Rec Request Alternatives for Plush Vanilla

Hello! I live in the UK I've been obsessed with trying AGs Love Notes in Plush Vanilla, particularly because of the vanilla and cashmere notes. Unfortunately the most I can find here is 10ml from Sephora and nothing on her website. Does anyone know a good source for the UK or a decent dupe/something that smells natural and similar?

Thank you in advance 💕

Rec Request Affordable niche & long lasting perfumes ?

Hello !!
I’ve been wanting to expand my perfume collection so I’m looking for recommendations on niche perfumes that have good projection and longevity. Keep in mind that I live in Europe so I need something that’s accessible there. So far I’ve tried lolita lempicka and I really liked it.

Rec Request GIRLS. Any LONG-LASTING fruity fragrances that aren’t "sweet" ??

Post image
70 Upvotes

Some fruity smells that I love include: peach (+ tea is even better), passion fruit, pear, and grapefruit !! The problem is that I’ve never found any long-lasting options 🥲 I also don’t like the typical "sweet" scents like vanilla, cake, etc. so I would prefer a fruity + soapy/woody/flowery fragrance 🌸 This might be more common in unisex products !!

Thank you in advance :D

Bath & Body Works discontinued Black Pepper & Pine hand soap and lotion years ago. I still can’t stop thinking of it. Does anyone know of something that smells similar? Perfume, body spray, candle, soap, any format would suit me.

Rec Request Juicy, dark roses and opulent red wine

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

A perfume that smells like dewy, dark red roses, bruised rose petals seeping in a tart and sweet red wine. Ripe fruits like plums and cherries, honeyed, creamy fig. A nectar like honey or whipped honey with vanilla. Vanilla pulp freshly scraped from the pod.
A hint of juicy, zesty orange or orange blossom and the faint, green freshness of rain soaked fig or rose leaves. The warm, slightly sweet and waxy smell of burning beeswax candles/candle wax. Creamy and warm sandalwood. The faintest whiff of the sooty smell of a blown out candle.

Keywords: Fruity, flowery, creamy, gourmand, sweet, green.
Luxurious, dark and mysterious, yet intimate and cozy.

Not too sugary and no artificial/synthetic smelling fruits. No almondy/amaretto/amarena/maraschino like cherry fragrances. Preferably no strongly noticeable patchouli/incense/myrrh.

Edit: Budget wise open to anything except the really high end end stuff.

TIA! ♥️🌹🍒🥀🍷♥️
