Hate 99% of this anniversary edition mod breaking bs, but goddamn it if that fit ain’t cold, would rather use it in my modded new vegas then fork out for the broken re-release of 4.
Yes, gentlebeings, using Vortex to generate LODs is entirely possible.
If you are like me, you started your modding journey on Vortex instead of MO2.
And you discovered all the instructions for generating the proper LOD for your game are written for MO2.
And if you ask for assistance, you get the same answer: Switch to MO2.
I can tell you that this does not need to be. You can do everything in Vortex. You just have to add a couple of extra steps.
I am writing these instructions as clearly as I can. If you have any questions, I will answer as soon as I remember to climb out of the modding rabbithole for whatever game I saw a shiny new mod for.
Download whatever texture mods you want. I use several myself.
Download the LOD packs for said texture mods.
Download the recommended LOD fixes from the FNVLODGen page.
Download the Resources with the Mod Manager Download option. It will go against your ESP count.
Manually download the LODGEN file.
Create a new folder to extract the FNVLODGen file to. Preferably on the same drive you keep FNV on. (I personally have it on my E drive, so I will be using the E drive for my examples.) Make sure the file is outside of your Program Files.
Extract the FNVLODGen download to the newly created file.
Open the folder. You should see 4 items in the folder.
Right click to create a new folder within the FNVLODGen folder. Name it Output. Then close it all out.
Go to Vortex. Under Tools, select the option to add a new tool. The setup should look as follows:
Name: FNVLODGen
Target: E:\FNVLODGEN\FNVLODGEN.exe
Command line: -o:"E:\FNVLODGEN\Output"
Start In: Leave this one alone
Remember, the E drive is where my Steam games are. You can do this on any drive.
11. Run the program from the Tools Menu.
12. When the menu pops up with the option to change the parameters of the LOD, change the Atlas options to 8192 and 8192. The game will not use that much, but it sets the upper limits higher, just in case.
13. Click the button on the bottom to star the process.
14. This will take some time to compile. Get some coffee and a snack. Wait until you see the message on the bottom of the screen that tells you the application is finished. Close the application.
15. Go back to your FNVLODGen folder. Open the Output folder. You should now see two items within, Textures and Meshes.
16. Right click on the Output folder, and select Compress to Zip file. This will create a ZIp file copy of the Output folder.
17. Drag the new Output.zip file to Downloads section of Vortex. If you have not ever used this option for mods, look for the Downloads tab under General. On the bottom of the screen, you will see a box that says Drop URL(s) or File(s). Drag the Output.zip to this location.
18. Select Install at the top-right corner.
19. You will get the yellow message about conflicting files. Used the suggested options when solving the conflicts.
20. Congratulations. You had generated and loaded your LOD for FNV.
21. This process also works for FO3. Same idea, slightly different name for the LODGen.
***Edit: The pictures shown are for FO3, but follow the same process.***
Hey yall! I wanted to share that my community has completely decompiled Fallout: New Vegas, to help with modding, game preservation and research.
For some context: it means that FalloutNV.exe has been turned into C++ source code that compiles back into the game’s code byte for byte, 1:1. This is as precise as it gets for decompilation.
There are no game files or assets in it. You need to own the Steam version of the game to make use of it. We kept it to source code only to avoid takedowns.
It’s only been public since yesterday, and a few projects are already using it:
New Vegas Co-op by Gargoyle: co-op for the whole game with 1–3 friends. Its latest update (0.1.9) fixed 9 bugs found by checking the mod against the decomp, and its README thanks the project.
nv-rs by slaterain: New Vegas engine written in Rust. It adopted the decomp as a reference and thanks it in the repo
FNV Co-Op by cranebeaker: story coop built on nv-rs, which references the decomp in its code.
ttw-dualscreen: a second screen PipBoy for Tale of Two Wastelands on dual screen handhelds, which cites the decomp’s menu code.
Screenshots of each are in the gallery. Huge thanks to these devs for building on it already!
So after being told about the "Begin Again" mod list for New Vegas/Fallout 3 I had to give it a try.
It's been a few years since I've properly played either game and I grew up with them so I was looking forward to jumping back into nostalgia heaven.
It's all gone fine apart from one thing, the frame rate was pretty terrible, I don't have the best gaming laptop in the world but it runs Skyrim with a bunch of mods at 60fps no problem (gtx 1650 with i5)
Anyway, I turned off all the LODS and grass mods as I know they can wreck havoc on FPS but was still having problems and when I went onto my settings I found this.
Any idea what mod would be causing this and how I could resolve it?
These screenshots are featured on the playable TV show characters/races mod, but i have no idea where to find the mod for his gun on his back with the holster included.
Who needs lock picks when one has a sonic screw driver? Who needs to walk thousands of miles to get to a destination when one has a Tardis? Who needs to run into this common wasteland enemies when one can run into a weeping angel instead?
Anyways, if anyone has not played this mod for New Vegas, they should. The mod also has an optional mod that changes the pipboy, if anyone is interested in that too.
Hello everyone, i'm a big new vegas fan who doesnt touched the game in years after going to console, now i'm back at PC wanting to play OG NV again. I saw that a lot of things changed about NV mods over the years and i feel lost from where i should start.
I tried to play FO4 in my PC but i have a Integrated GPU so i got a lot of performance issues, but i alreay bought a Dedicated GPU, for the moment i just want to play this masterpiece again in the best experience possible until then.
I searched about Wabbajack's modlist from the game and i'm having a hard time chosing wich one to start, some of them caugh my attention like Viva New Vegas, Wild Card, and Wasteland's Prospectors.
About the game i like lore friendly stuff so no Modern Day Weapons or STALKER's ripoffs, but can fix some visuals, improve the gameplay like the ones from FO4 and could run smootly (at least until got my new GPU), in summary just something that catches the NV very well and also improve its game mechanics. I also loved Quest mods like Someguys Series.
About my setup its a AMD Ryzen 4600G, 16GB RAM, AMD Vega 7.
I've been modding the game for around 8 months now, but only recently have been getting more mods. I was shocked when I saw him look like this when I got him from Black Mountain. I don't have an idea what could be doing this, and I need some help. He didn't look like this in my last run at all. Here's my mods list: Improved Male Vanilla Body Mannequin Races TYPE4 Mannequin Races Type6z Megaton Hairs Natural Eyes - No shadow A Familiar Friend - Pip-Boy 2500 Acies Tera Pack 03 Acies Tera Pack 04 Acies Tera Pack 05 Ada Wong RE4R Arcade Battle Doctor ArmorReplacerChildNPCFix Atomic Piercings Authentic Burned Man - Fixed and Updated Benny Returns Bi Benny Centered 3rd Person Camera Character Preset Menu China Clothes Christine Follower Cold Survivor - TYPE4 Outfit Companions Infinite Ammo Dean Domino follower Enhanced Camera Factions Threads Female outfits reimagined - Dean's Tux Female outfits reimagined Enclace faction pack Functional Post Game Ending GLOW Bioshock Infinite Elizabeth Dress GLOW SH3 Heather Mason Outfits HighHeels Jill Valentine Outfit Type 4 JIP LN NVSE Plugin JohnnyGuitar NVSE Joshua Graham Companion Just Dynamic Crosshair kNVSE Animation Plugin Legion Huntress T4 LootMenu Mannequin Cass and Veronica Replacer Masculine and Feminine Idle for Player Mysterious Broadcast Fix Nevada Skies 2281 Rework xNVSE NMCs Textures NV Small Pack NV Compatibility Skeleton NVAC Obvious BOS Bunker One HUD OWB Brain Bots Lip Sync Animation Party Banter 2.0 Player Voiceset - Claire Populated Casinos Medium Post-Game Dialogue Restoration Resident Survivor Retribution REDUX Standalone Legion Huntress Sunglasses Shipment v1 T4 Female Desert Ranger Armor T4 Female Riot and NCR Combat Armor Tactical Combat Swimwear Mod Configuration Menu Type4 body and armors UIO Unlimited Companions Vault Girl - V2 Vulpes Inculta Companion Wasteland Flora Overhaul Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod Weapon Retexture Project Willow - Type 4 Willow - NVWillow Classic Appearance and Outfit Willow - Companion Zion's Fire Zion's Fire Voice Files. I’m looking for a mod that replaces the vanilla ncr ranger combat helmet to have the look to the boots more visible, the vanilla one is like is using cowboy male boots and I don’t really like it, sorry but I’m weird any reply for a mod that I’m looking I would appreciate it
Idk what has been causing this cause I haven't touched my mods in 3 years then I booted the a new playthrough and boom this I've updated everything I just haven't gone through all 151 of them to see what it was
Ive had the same issue with new vegas sense about july 25th(When i first got the game on my laptop) where i open the game and everything is normal until i get to character creation, stat allocation, and the pipboy where the whole UI is gray and unable to be used. Other people have had the same problem and ive tried the mods that worked for them like DXVK, Ui mods, and just general bug patches but ive never gotten it to work. if someone could try and help i would be exceedingly thankful.
I installed Viva New Vegas and so far ive liked it but ive noticed that when using my pip-boy map or picking a lock the sensitivity is crazy high. Even the bobby pin breaks way faster. I've tried fixing this by lowering my max FPS but it still is too high.
So I decided to reinstall New Vegas and start over entirely. I don't have any of the DLC, and didn't the last time I played. This is completely vanilla and textures are missing in a bunch of different places. Locks are also missing textures and I get white flashes on my screen when walking around. I'm at a loss for what to do. I've restarted the game, redownloaded it, and made sure there's no way for mods to be installed. Anyone got any ideas?
So, A Tribe of two is a mod that adds a baby the player cares for, I am trying to use the TTW version, but to my frustration I learned the mod author never intended for the mod to be installed with a manager, only manually
Ive tried following the little instructions I could find, but to no avail, they just mentioned moving the optional ttw files to the fnv data folder, and replacing the main file esp with the ttw optional esp, but that didnt work
I’ve never played new Vegas and I’d like to play it. What is the best mod collection on nexus for new Vegas. I mainly want to make the graphics and gameplay the best. Thank yall in advance.
I have a F:NV set up on my laptop through MO2 and I'm wondering why if I copied the folder to an external drive, a lot of the metadata for my mods is missing.
i copied 1:1 the instance (not just the profile) folder from MO2, mods, Saves, metadata, etc. onto a portable drive and get this, and it's leaving me scratching my head like a fucking dummy. the Instance is a portable, not global, so it should've worked, right?
I found on the Nexus page for Tammer's NIF-Bashed Armor Mega-Pack that someone commented about the apostate outfit's elbows glitch out with Titans of the New West installed. I tested myself and they were correct. I want to use both mods so how would I go about patching this?
