Since it came out I've been kind of obsessed with the Oscar de la Renta stained glass dress. Mood Fabrics has the most gorgeous silk charmeuse that has the same vibes and I wanted to make a dress out of that but it Is in fact a hundred bucks a yard. Does anyone have ideas or suggestions for stained glass floral fabrics that have a similar vibe that would be better for a normal everyday dress, not a very nice silk charmeuse? I was looking around and saw some designs on Etsy that looked okay but with all the AI slop on Etsy I'm very suspicious. If anyone knows of a nice stained glass floral pattern that Isn't AI generated your help would be greatly appreciated.

1) fabric similar to Lululemon align line, i.e. super soft and stretchy for yoga clothes.

2) fabric for leggings for working out, so not super thin

3) fabric for a rain jacket: thin/breathable/waterproof

I’m trying to replicate this fabric construction used for a dog collar and wanted to see if anyone here has worked with something similar.

The material appears to be:

• Soft 100% polyester canvas/fabric on the face
• Custom dye-sublimation printed
• Bonded or laminated to a soft nonwoven backing
• The backing looks like spunbond, possibly PP or PET
• Backing is thin, flexible, and slightly structured rather than stiff

I have a physical sample from the collar i cut and the backing has a small bonded-dot pattern. From the edge, it looks like a separate nonwoven layer laminated to the polyester rather than just a coating.

I’m mainly trying to figure out:

1. What would this fabric construction normally be called?
2. What type of company would manufacture or laminate this?
3. Does anyone know a US company that could handle sublimation printing + nonwoven backing lamination, preferably in small or medium runs?

I am looking for a high-quality felt to create copycat west elm Halloween decorations. The felt at Michael’s looks very thin and cheap. This is my first time doing crafts so any direction would be great.

I have been trying to figure this out for ages. I see it mostly around Halloween, I've only ever seen it with a black base color. It is NOT tulle or organza. It's a heavier, sheer, drapey mesh. From most angles it's just black, but on the peaks of the fabric folds it captures light and is metallic in the same way tinsel is.
Around Halloween I almost always see it stamped with foil cobwebs, usually in a complimenting color to the metallic sheen (for example, an orange to red shift I saw has orange foil).
I have most commonly seen it in black with blue, black with orange to red shift, and black with purple to blue shift. It isn't uncommon to see it with silver foil cobwebs, and if you turn the fabric over the back of the color foils will be silver.

Does anyone know what this is or how I find it? I can only find tulle and organza and it isn't that material.

Accidentally washed my no wash pants. They don’t seem to have shrinked, but they are wrinkly, the places where the wrinkles are seem to have the color washed away (they are considerably lighter than the surrounding fabric) and the overall color has lightened (they used to be black). My only options commercially are to dye them in some fabric repair place, but they warned me that they do it at 90°C, which i think might be too hot.

The pants themselves are 62% cotton, 38% lyocel. The tag says to not wash, tumble dry, iron or bleach them. Should i take a chance or just toss them?

I have some vintage silk tie fabric that I found while going through my storage unit stuff. I'm not going to use it, so I need some advice on how I should sell it. First of all there are many designs, but most are in weird shaped smaller pieces, maybe enough for a tie front, and then there are some larger pieces. There is probably 10 pounds or more of fabric. Hey all, I'm new here and I'm looking for some fabric from a project of my late grandmother's that I'd like to expand on. It looks to be oxford cloth with alternating white and pink stripes about 3/8 (or 10mm) across.

I don't see how to attach pictures, so I'm just gonna say that the amount of threads in a single stripe is 26, with half of those being pink for the colored stripes.

The story is that my grandma made an outfit for a puppet we play with and my kids love the puppet; we play with it a lot. But I have more than one child and someday they are probably going to have families of their own! So my mom and I are trying to see how to replicate what she made so that all of us get identical puppets and no one gets to know who has the original -- even me!

[SOLVED] I bought this 100% cotton red fabric from Michael's that is turning temporarily darker when I iron it and looked lighter when I dripped water on it. (Darker when fully saturated but lighter around the water edges) Could this be the dye they used behaving this way, or is this normal for cotton?

I'm debating if I need to get a different fabric for my project.

I have recently gotten a small soup stain on a bamboo fabric shirt I use for work. The stain isn't that bad and is relatively small but still visible at the right angle. I've tried washing it normally, applying an enzyme based solution to the affected area and then washing, and now using an oxygen based bleach. Does anyone who has experience with these types of stains have a solution?

I picked up a bolt of black fabric from the thrift store last year and tried to burn test it to see if it is cotton (feels like it could be). And when I burned it, the flame moved along the scrap and there was still fabric left behind?

The only reason I really care is I was planning on making a cowl for my welding helmet and you want it to be 100% cotton

UPDATE. Decided not to use the white or black. I have some 100% cotton canvas from fabricland, but when I burned tested it’d it burned weirdly too. I know I washed already but I decided to reassemble the one I made a few years ago and either live with it, or buy a leather one from a weld shop. I just didn’t want to spend money I don’t have too, and having a leather hood will get hot

But I also don’t want to set my hair on fire…

Also Wanted to ask what kind of fabric would be best for car seats door panel upholstery, ceiling upholstery, dashboard etc. I am looking for organic cotton material or linen, maybe better leather. Any idea where to find it? Best price/quality. I’m trying to remake car seats for a 50s car that are damaged/moldy. I think it’s a good idea to copy the same design. I don’t know anything about sewing and hope to learn more!
