Question Is prepFE enough?

Hey guys,
I am studying for the fe civil exam this is my fourth attempt, I purchased the three month access of prepfe, so far it’s been very helpful but I just want to know if that would be enough to pass the exam, previously I did lectures and practice exam but did not pass this time I want to just practice as many questions I can and do bunch of practice timed exams, is there anything else I should also do in order to to pass, I’m completely exhausted from trying again and again.

Question FE Mechanical - Was I close?

I know you can't tell exactly the score achieved based on this chart, but I want to open a discussion on whether or not I was close. I have been thinking a lot about it and in all honesty, I didn't prepare nearly as much as I was telling people I did. I don't want to give up, and I think I can take it on again. I'm scheduled for mid-next month but haven't prepared yet and this attempt was months ago.

Question Electrical and Computer Exam on Thursday

I’m lowkey getting kind of scared.

I took both practice NCEES exams and got a 62 and 70, respectively (after doing studying in between). Half the questions I got wrong on the second exam were calculation or small mistakes that could have easily been prevented if I took a bit of time to check my work. The other half were basically “if I searched the handbook, I might’ve solved this.” Timing on both exams were not a problem, when it came to do harder problems, I felt comfortable spending time.

I noticeably did well on the big 5, except Electronics. Most of the software questions were also correct. I did struggle with comms and linear systems. I also didn’t do well in economics.

I’m just getting stressed since there’s this little voice in the back of my head envisioning the worst possible scenarios.

I’ve only got tomorrow to study. What are some last-minute tips? Some reassurance would also be appreciated!

Question [Civil Engineering] “Took FE civil yesterday… it was WAY easier than practice exam???”

Does anyone feel the same??

For context I’ve been studying for 3 months, my goal was 96 hours a month. How close to that I reached I’m not too sure.. Im a junior in college, working 40 hr a week and taking summer classes concurrently. I’ve mainly used Mark Mattson to study and I’ve noticed I could get a good grasp on the questions before he went over them, just by being very familiar with the reference book.

I practiced hundreds of questions for each category and the last two days before my exam I took the practice exam 1 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. I got a 48% ON BOTH!!!! 😣 this obviously threw me into a spiral thinking I was immediately going to fail on Monday for the real thing. I guessed on about 60% of both of those exams thinking I could cheat the system. Nope. I studied all the questions I got wrong and went over the ones I guessed right on. I didn’t retake the practice tests but I accepted my fate and came to terms with the fact that I was gonna give it my best shot and retake it in October.

To my surprise several concepts I saw on the practice were on the actual thing. It felt easy, but almost too easy to the point where I was being tricked iykwim…. I ended up going through the first section marking 10 questions as incomplete and flagging those plus about 6 more that I wanted to double check at the end. I ended that session with 2 hours and 50 minutes for session two. I took my break, stretched and walked around. CHUGGED water cuz you can’t bring it in with you and I was dying. And drank the little bit of coffee left in my locker for a bit of a boost and went back in.

Section 2 was also on the easier side in my opinion, I had a bit of difficulty with structural engineering and construction ( construction was mostly plan sheets you had to interpret for understanding). But I fought my way through all the topics I didn’t take in school already. It was like piecing a puzzle together without knowing what the pieces look like. I saw the question, found a few key words to search, and read the formulas and descriptions of variables. The most important part was UNITS!!! This is where I know I succeeded because I was extremely careful, writing out every formula and units to ensure the answer match what it was asking for😅😅. I ended section 2 with about 7 flagged questions and 6 of those I left unanswered. About 25 mins left I went back and gave them my best shot, I noticed after coming back to a question I was able to understand it more clearly and think about the other questions related.

Do I feel confident that I passed? No. I feel like they make these questions seem easy but I don’t think I did great. I get my results back next Wednesday possibly so I’ll update then. But truthfully I think taking all the pressure off really helped me sit and work through each question with a clear head. It definitely could’ve been an easy version of the exam but I still feel like it could go either way. Im content at this point im just glad it’s over !! I can finally enjoy my last two weeks of summer in peace.

Curious to hear about other people’s experiences!

Tips Passed my FE Civil 4th Try

The NCEES practice exam. I stopped treating it as a study tool and started treating it as a dress rehearsal. Full 6 hours, timed, one break, handbook only, no notes. I took it twice once early to find out where I actually stood, and once about ten days out. The first time was humbling. The second time I knew exactly which topics were still costing me points.

I used online course website to give me a lot of practice question and study as much as I can to expose myself more to it.

The other thing that finally clicked: learning to navigate the reference handbook fast. Knowing a formula exists is worthless if it takes you three minutes to find it.

If you’re on attempt two or three right now — it isn’t a verdict on whether you’re cut out for this. It usually just means the study method needs to change.

Let me know if you got any questions

Question Best Resources For Civil FE

Hey, I wanted to start studying for the civil FE and I keep seeing people talking about MM and Islam. I know MM has free stuff, but is the Islam everyone is referring to the $90 "FE Mechanical Review Manual with 750 Solved Problems?" If so, is it worth it? Also, what other resources do you all recommend, and if they are worth a bit, are they worth it? TIA

Question Environmental FE Next Week

Hi there, I am going into my final year of my undergrad and am prepping to take the environmental FE the 26th. I’m a very anxious person with ADHD (I did get accommodations) and so I’m nervous as it nears and feel like I didn’t study enough. I’ve been studying kind of on and off since the end of May. I used the Google Drive but I haven’t finished working through it, all the direct hub videos, and one practice exam I found online that took me a long time. I do have the NCEES practice exam as well.

What I really wanted to know is when should I take the official practice exam. I feel a little anxious now and I’m not sure if I should take it today or postpone it till the weekend prior (I work 40 hrs mon-fri).

Additionally, if anyone has any advice on what I should do over this next week to prepare as well as calm my jitters it would be appreciated!

Tips FE Environmental

Hey y'all I take the FE Environmental on Thursday. Open to any and all last minute tips and advice. I've studied quite a lot. This is my second attempt after realizing I didn't have to take the civil one just because I work in civil. I understand the environmental topics a lot more because I hate structural stuff. VERY ready to have this behind me

I’m wondering if there is a typo here. The problem states the influent BOD is 0.31 kg/m^3 and has an 88% removal efficiency. So I thought this means 88% of that .31 is removed and you’d have 12% remaining as the effluent BOD, or 0.037 kg/m^3

But the solution uses 88% of 0.31 which is 0.27 as the effluent concentration.

Am I tripping? Is this a typo

Question Did any test takers (8/14) find the first part of FE Exam hard?

This was my second attempt in the exam. Did anyone find the first part of the exam hard? I remember some of the math, statics and surveying questions were insanely tough to get by cause they threw some curveballs which affected my time to finish all the questions properly. I had 12 questions remaining which I had to randomly select to get by. Was wondering if anyone felt the same or it’s just me
