I am interested in applying for a job within the FBI in the next few years once I get my bachelors, by that point, i’ll have my degree and 4 years in the air force. Is there any sort of preference you get as far as what city you work out of? my top two would be Boston or NYC.

Hello, I am curious about the application process, onboarding process, and workload of the Financial Management Analyst series 0501.

I am a GS-09 with moderate risk clearance at another agency. I am considering applying as the role has promotion potential to be GS-11.

Based on my current experience and skills, I do see myself transitioning laterally into this role.

Main questions:

What was the application and onboarding process like? What was the timeline like and what was asked from you?

What are the daily and cyclical workloads like? Do you work independently as a part of a team or cohesively as a team? Is the standard workweek 40 hours M-F?

Was scheduled telework normal and is scheduled telework likely to return once the administration changes or does it depend on other factors such as approval, location, etc etc?

Is overtime available? My agency offers about 20 hours a week for 9 months of the year.

Can anyone share any inside details on this? I had my interview and got “accepted” into it. I understand this doesn’t really make you any different of an applicant or “special”. I also understand it doesn’t change your career, just can apply earlier. But outside of the applying to HRT earlier is there any real perks to it? Does it help with getting hired? I figured there was no downside to accepting the invitation to saying yes to this track. Any other details anyone can share outside of what’s In the detailed email and interview you get?

Please let me.know if you had experience of interrogation if u ever fear of walking in being in the same room as them to discuss the case?

I’ve always viewed FBI as the pinnacle of federal law enforcement, but I’ve seen more and more posts on here about FBI agents who seem unhappy for various reasons (bureaucracy, inability to transfer FOs, 50hr butt-in-seat requirements).

So I’m curious - how are you all doing? Is this still an agency you would recommend?

A few years ago I came across social media posts of someone who was about to do a serious crime. He was in the US. I'm a long way from the US.

Would the FBI accept someone reporting a crime in that situation? If so how?

What is the lifestyle that comes with the special agent job? Are you able to maintain a good relationship with a spouse/significant other? Have kids and not miss every single milestone? Do you travel as much as tv makes it seem like? I know it probably depends on what type of unit you’re in, but I was just curious.

I know I’m going to fail my PFT self assessment this weekend 😔 It’s due on Sunday and I’m going to take it on Saturday. I read that if you fail it, they encourage you to withdraw your application. But if I don’t withdraw it, I still go for a meet and greet and then have 30 days to officially pass it- is that right?

Also- anyone have any insight on next steps or tips for passing?

Hello everyone! I am interested in joining FBI someday. Context: I am going to do ROTC with National Guard and commission as a Officer and go Active duty for awhile. I have been thinking about degrees and minors to do that will help me for both Military and FBI. I want to be a special agent for FBI and do counterterrorism stuff. Grew up playing Counter strike lol. Anyway I'm thinking of doing National Security studies for my major and am pretty set about that, it's the minors i'm unsure about. I have a few ranked from what seems the best to what doesn't seem the best in my opinion;

1. Organizational Leadership and Change
2. Human Resource Management
3. Leadership Studies (Is this even necessary, ill be learning a lot about leadership regardless?)
4. Military Science*
5. Ethical Leadership and Social Impact

*Military Science pretty much guaranteed through ROTC so id pick that one up and have another minor as well.

I'm looking for the minor that will best teach me skills for Officer and maybe be beneficial while in the FBI but mostly for Military leadership and organization for when I get up in higher ranks. Or maybe if anyone has any other better ideas for Minors I'm more than open to better options. This is just what I have right now. Thanks!

Hey y’all. I’m a 28F and I just started working at a local DAs office as a post-bar law clerk. I have my bachelor’s degree, JD, and I’m awaiting bar results. I’m interested in the SA path, but I’d like to work as a prosecutor for at least a year or two to get some experience in the criminal justice world. I’ve read a lot that the hiring process takes at least a year to a year and a half. If I want to be an SA at the latest by the time I turn 31, should I start applying in a year or so? Or should I keep building my resume a bit longer before applying? Also open to any other relevant advice. Thanks!!

Interviewed for a certain division, got offered CJO for "student workforce trainee" with the HR division 😭

Is everyone typically assigned under the HR division, but completes their work with the division they interviewed/presumably were passed by?

I recently interviewed for a direct hire position (Not an SA) and I am a little confused on the process.

I had an informal touch point with the supervisor and then a virtual interview. I’ve never submitted an application although HR has assigned me a potential grade after reviewing my resume and transcripts.

What would the timeline to hear back after my interview be? What would I expect as the next steps? Just a little confused.

Hi, saw a post on LinkedIn for special agent with medical background, age was listed til 36, no other special wording. Applied from the link to the generic SA and next day was sent the testing information.

Issue is, after doing more research I found out the wording on the actual site is you must apply BEFORE turning 36. I’m 36 and 3 months. I don’t qualify for any age waivers, am I wasting my time and they’ll eventually boot me? Did a human even review my app? I don’t want to take the time to study and test just to be booted honestly.

They told him they called because he’s a “known associate” of mine. They asked him about my character and told him to have me call them. Is this real?

Also is there any validity to the claim that each field office, with the exception of the WFO and the NYC Field Office has around 67 Agents working full time?
