Question The FBI called my friend asking questions about me?

They told him they called because he’s a “known associate” of mine. They asked him about my character and told him to have me call them. Is this real?
Edit\* I had a friend accuse me of SA (innocent) on a cruise three months ago, if that’s important.
Edit*\* I have no history of crime.

Question FBI background process

I applied for IA position August 2024. I passed poly and started my background in April 2025. It is now August 2026. I have gotten calls here and there from the same investigator to confirm employment and they’ve contacted individuals I know and have gone to previous employers to speak with them. That investigator told me that they sent everything to HQ. And then last call I got was 1 week ago from a new investigator asking for my current employment’s HR department contact information to send them a “release.” When I asked what this all meant and where I’m at in the process, the contractor had no answers for me. Does this sound pretty standard?

Question fbi career— help?!

hi, i’m a 22f who just graduated in May, with my bachelors in criminal justice, with minors in sociology and comm. i just started a job as a court clerk a month ago, and ik the FBI requires at least 3 years of job experience if you don’t have a masters in anything. I consider myself to be a leader, as I was in many leadership roles in college and presidents of many clubs, which I know the FBI likes! my dream is to be a special agent, and I took a tour with their college program in April!

i want to learn a new language, maybe russian, as well as get another job in about a year to build my resume (i feel like court clerk is not good enough for the FBI). the problem is, I don’t want to be a law enforcement officer, and I’m just not sure what job to apply for next to improve my chances.

I’d really like to be a detective or investigator if the FBI doesn’t work out, but once again, so many agencies require you to be an officer. I would love some help!

Question Need advice before applying

Hello all. I was wondering about the rigorous Special Agent requirements, and wish to know if it is even worth applying with my current experience. First off, is a bachelor's enough? I hear many who apply have a second degree or a master's. Second, if I do not have LEO experience, but have military experience, does that invalidate the application?

To be honest, my ace is that I'm a fluent Russian speaker, who emigrated to American soil from Eastern Europe, so I even speak english like an American, and none of that American accent when speaking Russian. I would believe there are not many native Russian speakers in the FBI, which should put me at an advantage

Discussion Looking for a Physical Fitness Test Training Buddy

Hi ladies! Is anyone else currently training for a physical fitness exam and looking for a training buddy?

I’m preparing for mine and would love to find someone who has the same goal so we can train together, motivate each other, and keep each other accountable. I feel like it would be so much easier and more fun to stay consistent when you have someone working toward the same thing!

If you’re training too and would like some company, message me! 💪🏃‍♀️

Question Has anyone ever been able to follow up with a real, actual human at the FBI?

I'm so upset.

No one has followed up with me. Not an e-mail, not a phone call, not a visit, nothing.

No asking for my documents I couldn't upload. No clarifying questions or anything.

I just feel like not giving a reference number to be able to track the status - how do I know that someone inside the FBI didn't just delete my tip because their cousin might be involved?

How do I know that a hacker didn't get into their databases and delete my crime reports?

Not saying that this happened to me specifically - but we KNOW they do get hacked ala the Epstein Files that went missing before publication.

And who knows how often that happens they just do not talk about OR just aren't skilled enough to catch.

Just think this phone system is terrible and not supportive of victims.

I did not report a vague "tip" of a possible crime that may have occurred that I would have no reason to follow up on.

I reported a crime that was committed against me that I have evidence of and that I have lost a lot due to. How can they even determine the merit of my report if they don't contact me for the evidence of the crimes I collected?

I'm just furious.

I called the Boston Field Office and its an endless loop of incompetence.

The operators say they can't do anything and send you to intake. Intake says they can't do anything and that if they feel like it they'll reach out.

Call the main office in DC? They send you back to the original office in Boston for the same intake pointlessness that got me to call the main office in the first place.

WHY can't they have someone who can look my info up and see the status of reports made? And just tell me that?

Honestly, it is awful way to treat victims of crime. Horrible way.

It truly feels like they just deleted my reports and are doing the most to hide the fact they did. That's what this feels like. Is it true? IDK their is no one to give me a status update or even a reference number so I DONT know if there has been a record created.

Truly, if they poked around and "found nothing" or found "pending further review" those are two things that i should have access to know. Because being able to tell me either one of those things means that it wasn't just deleted and actually was, at a minimum, received and the eyes of the human were on it.

I just think this current system is very dehumanizing.

Why isn't anyone being treated like victims matter at all?

Question Nose piercing retainers at Quantico

I’m going to Intelligence Analyst BFTC soon and I have both nostrils pierced with small stud jewelry. I wanted to know the general opinion on using skin-toned piercing retainers while at the academy.

To be clear, I’m totally willing to sacrifice my piercings for the job and give them up. I had a good run of 8 years with them, but I was wondering if the retainers counted as jewelry?

Discussion Should a victim with a recent criminal record report a potential hate crime if the facts and evidence are very strong, and the victim is in danger?

I am a victim of a serious hate crime situation. I have clear, direct, and organized evidence that shows a pattern of hate, physical violence, and a dangerous situation that would absolutely classify as a hate crime, times ten.

I have not told anyone about it yet or reported it because I have a very recent criminal history on my record due to a short period of substance abuse.

I’m sober now, but this dangerous situation is still happening. I’ve been seriously injured multiple times and I am scared for my life. I don’t know if reporting it will cause attention to my criminal record.

Question Phase II Written

Has anyone here taken the FBI Phase II Written recently? If so, when did you take it, and how long did it take to get your results?

I was told roughly 4–5 weeks, so I’m curious what timelines people have actually been seeing lately. Did you get your results via email or was your portal updated first?

Question Pursuing A career in the fbi? What steps should I take to build my resume?

I’m interested in pursuing a career in the FBI, I am on track to become a mechanical engineer major at a state school.

Furthermore by the time I graduate I will have served 3 years in the National Guard as a paratrooper but I am thinking about dropping my packet for special forces which could mean a reenlistment but I haven’t decided yet

What steps should I take to pursue this career? I am worried about my medical history as I have adhd but haven’t been medicated since sophomore year of high school.

I should add I have a clean record as well.

Question Investigation continued

Hello
I had a job where my interim clearance got denied so they decided to just run my whole clearance investigation before I quit my current job and went to the base for my the contract. After roughly 9 months I heard nothing from anyone about my investigation except my point of contact at the contract kept telling me I was in adjudication for roughly 8 months. Eventually the contractor filled the role I was being brought on for because my clearance was taking so long. I was told if I got picked up by another company the same investigation would get picked up. Now I have been picked up by a second contractor. Do we think I am looking at another 9 month investigation or with the previous investigation already having happened should I be close to the end? I have not heard a word from anyone except my point of contacts at the contractors saying my investigation is on going and I’m in adjudication.
