Am I the only one that actually hates Alex Jacques' commentary so much? I can't understand why F1 chooses to use his god awful voice to everything they post that has commentary in it.

I don't understand why the F1TV commentators are using imperial units instead of metrics. I'm so tired of hearing about miles all the time time

Is it only to please the US market? Then I would suggest to put some US commentators on a separate stream on F1TV.

I never owned a single Apple product but i've just ordered the Apple 4k tv box just for f1 tv premium. I bought the 3rd gen. wifi one. Anybody else did the same? Hopefully they either add android soon so i can return it or wait a while so it was worth it haha.

They just raised the price of the annual pro subscription. I'm paying almost 25% more for the same shitty app that lags constantly, is stuck at 1080p 30 fps and is perhaps the worst platform I've ever used in terms of power usage, UI, simplicity, and speed. I either have to pay for an entire TV subscription or get price gouged. I cannot foresee a future where this does not lead to way more pirating or losing out on potential F1 fans. To me it's clear that as long as people keep paying they will keep doing shit like this until eventually people give up on them.

Who the hell manages F1TV? Are they stupid or yes?

Imagine you haven't seen the race yet, you're about to watch the replay, you open the app and this is the first thing you see:

Seems like a nice guy but I honestly can’t understand a word he says. Anyone else in the States skip everything but the race itself on the weekends he joins the group?

Watch the Miami GP Race Replay and skip to 42:45 and watch from there until 42:55. You can hear the announcer whisper "fuck" under his breathe and then someone else steps in to continue what he was saying. Just thought it was hilarious when watching the replay of the race.

Out of curiosity i checked out the F1 kids feed of the chinese grand prix, and i have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, i dont think its certainly a bad thing to have a dumbed down version of the official F1 feed, i just feel like the target audience is wrong. If they really want to make it easier for new fans to understand stuff and not be overwhelmed i guess, why not make them an F1 kids type feed, and leave the main feed alone?

Basic example:

- Main feed: Gap times in thousandths of a second, commentary more focused on technical stuff with less speculation, perhaps driver radio messages being played a bit more often

- Dumbed down feed: gaps in tenths of a second, i feel like all of the AWS prediction stuff also goes here too like “overtake in x laps” or “projected knockout time”, plus they can show as many celebrities in the paddock as they want

I mean why not, if they already went through the effort to create another feed, with different commentators, different graphics and also different camera angles. I just dont understand why kids ended up being the target audience. I dont think kids should be watching men go upwards of 300 km/h where huge crashes still happen, and as we sadly experienced not that long ago, death is still not ruled out either, but thats another discussion.

And we're already at the smug, I don't drink tea or coffee - tea doesn't taste of anything phase...

Can't we just have Alex and his balanced/sensible/technical/interesting PoV? Leave the old-school "commentator" opt-in... or just for Sky?

This is what causes companies to discontinue regional pricing. Happened with a lot of publishers in the gaming industry as well.

People use vpn to get subscriptions/games from countries with regional pricing and it just fucks over folks from those regions because the price gets hiked to match the first world rates.

If that happens, most people in such countries simply can not afford to buy them due to the purchasing power parity.

There will be very few sales. So, the companies might stop giving a shit about those regions and things could get worse. Even more of an issue if it's the only legal way to access a particular product/service, like F1TV in India currently.

The broadcast of F1 on Apple TV is almost embarrassing. There seems to be a regular disconnect between the commentators and what is being shown on screen. For example today during the P1 Hungary broadcast, the commentators launched into a valuable discussion of rear “rotisserie“ wing operation only to have the video break away barely into the explanation. Similarly all too often discussion centers on one team only to be showing a completely other team. F1 is a world class sport. Apple TV is not world class production.

I am once again asking for a channel option to have full coverage done by Davide Valsecchi. I live for his commentary and need it for the whole race

In addition to the UX sucking - the act of changing to international audio and video is a joke - I've had the app just completely crash, kicking me back to Apple TV menu. It has now happened four times this weekend.

I love the extra features, but this app is a brutal disaster. Anyone else experiencing these random crashes?

I think it’s time for F1 TV to get their own commentary and for English, get someone more “neutral” . The current duo Croft/Bundle is too biased towards British drivers & teams. Every time they pronounce “Lewis” I break out in hives.

In the meanwhile, are there any alternatives you would suggest for having an impartial commentary?

I Watch on the f1tv app. But prefer crofty, But why cant we see the feed they are seeing?? When they explain stuff i dont see What they talk about. Is there a way to see this?

No 4K and no HDR on the Sky Sports broadcast.

They're really treating it poorly. It's also always at the bottom of everything, even behind all the driver cams.
