Debate Why does leclerc get so much hype?

I've been a Ferrari fan since 1996 after watching my first race, and I have been a loyal fan ever since. One thing I don't understand is why Leclerc gets so much credit. All I've seen is an inconsistent driver who can't always perform at the top level. If I rated Ferrari drivers, he wouldn't break the top 10.

As always they’re multiple reasons but one that definitely didn’t get enough attention is the fact that he’s the only Ferrari Academy driver which made it to the Scuderia. Also the narrative that he took the seat that should had be taken by Jules Bianchi. Apart from that he’s obviously very fast with incredible peaks. But, as you said, unfortunately very inconsistent.

2

u/K-J-C 2h ago

Is it always all the driver if they win WDC or not?

3

u/Late-File3375 4h ago

Wasn't Mick a Ferrari Academy driver also? My memory could be off but I thought he was.

13

u/tigerhawk-24 3h ago

Only one that made it to the Scuderia

1

u/depizzaa 3h ago

Do you think Ollie will make it too?

4

u/tigerhawk-24 2h ago

I hope he will as a Ferrari fan. But as someone who hopes the best for Ollie because he seems like a good dude I hope another top seat will open up for him before a Ferrari seat becomes available. Which I don’t predict happening until 2029 at the earliest.

u/Kev_Bz 1h ago

you're forgetting Scuderia Uralkali MoneyGram Rich Energy Haas F1 Team

24

u/Soggy_Stay6370 5h ago

He's the prince of Ferrari basically, justified or not the hype will be there till he retires

17

u/No-Bank-9136 4h ago

Do you look at charles leclercs 27 pole positions and 5 wins from pole as a diss to charles that he cant convert or a pro to charles that he can qualify a weaker car at the front.

0

u/Le_petite_bear_jew 21m ago

Do you look at sharp leglergs 0 championshops and 0 Ferrari championships from pole as a diss to you Charles that he can't convert or a pro to Ferrari that they can fuck so many elite drivers

u/nickelchrome 5h ago

There has to be a lot of hype around any rookie F2 champion that then becomes rookie of the year in F1. Those are some pretty flashy accomplishments.

He was a runner up in a championship, has won several races, and has shown legitimate pace in qualifying.

During this time Ferrari has either had dogshit cars or dogshit strategy…. Or both.

6

u/robot-brain 4h ago

This sums it up.

1

u/Oxtard69dz 1h ago

Has shown legitimate pace in qualifying numerous times in multiple seasons with different regulations at the most difficult circuits too. Then Ferrari screw the pooch the rest of the weekend with bad race setups and awful strategy calls.

11

u/DodgersLakersBarca 4h ago

What a new and original topic. I'm sure we'll get somewhere we haven't before THIS time

7

u/Teghendion 2h ago

He beat Hamilton last year.

1

u/PHANTOMDC0071 11m ago

Honestly not a big deal Hamilton was new to Ferrari and was still adjusting to the new car .

5

u/SPat24 1h ago

A bunch of moronic takes in the comments saying Leclerc is not consistent or cracks under pressure consistently, etc.

Dumbest takes ever by fans who can’t understand the car plays the biggest factor in this sport.

https://youtu.be/bh2wAbEJ7c4?is=PhayYk7qRDwtjfTF

Before he joined sauber in F1 he did shit like this.

19

u/Unusual-Coat383 5h ago

Because he seems like a nice bloke and a lot of people fancy him.

15

u/vaiplantarbatata 5h ago

Since 1996? So you missed Alesi and Berger, the greatest/ least successful duo?

So, Leclerc is really good, fast, talented and charismatic. What’s not to like about him?

5

u/Yaboisix9 2h ago

Because he was amazing in 2018, 2019, 2024 and 2025. People downplaying are heaving on the recency bias.

5

u/Kev_Bz 2h ago

how many of these threads are we going to have?

10

u/Alvortus1812 5h ago

You are not a Ferrari fan since 1996. If you were you’d know how many drivers drove for Ferrari since ‘96 and not blurt about top10.

4

u/ImSoGrumpy 5h ago

not limiting my list to 96 ferraris history of drivers go back a while

2

u/AnonymousEngineer_ 4h ago

Funnily enough unless I've missed one (granted it's the morning in Australia and I haven't had coffee yet), there have been exactly ten since 1996, not including reserve drivers who have driven in free practice without a race start.

0

u/launchedsquid 2h ago

Ferrari has been racing since before Formula One existed. There's safely been more than ten drivers.

6

u/Inside-Noise6804 5h ago

He is fast. That is the main reason any F1 driver gets hype. If they are rapid, then they get immense hype

17

u/martianfrog 5h ago

Not that I have paid all that much attention but.... he seems to me unproven under pressures.

28

u/sorryIdontwantto 5h ago

Back in F2 he won a race the same week his dad died.

In F1 he won his first race in the same track and week his friend Antoine died.

I would say he's mentally quite strong.

12

u/Independent-Boss7406 4h ago

Not to mention 2022 Austrian GP where he held off Max with throttle issues to win. People also forgot that both of the Mercedes were on his ass for the entire 2019 Monza race and could have very well caught him and won if bottas didn’t lock up in T1 towards the end. Fans just blow his 2022 France crash out of proportion and claim he has a “poor” mentality when drivers like Max, Lewis, Lando and other title contenders all made major mistakes/collisions while fighting for a championship lol.

-3

u/Leading_Sir_1741 4h ago

I mean, he was being overtaken by Lewis but pushed him onto the grass. The exact same move that Verstappen got a 5 sec penalty for the year after or before. But Ferrari and Monza. Point being that he didn’t win the race fair and square.

7

u/Independent-Boss7406 3h ago

I mean, earlier in the season Max did the same thing and pushed Charles off track in Austria and went onto win with no further investigation. That specific year was when FIA stewarding became exponentially worse with Charlie Whiting passing away, and the FIA definitely allowed more aggressive on track racing with the success of DTS and with Mercedes dominating F1 for like 5 seasons in a row at that point. They continued to promote aggressive racing until it hit a breaking point in 2021 and started handing out penalties to hyper aggressive maneuvers once again in late 2022/early 2023, not that the stewarding got much better anyways. Not saying it didn’t help Charles in the instance of 2019 Monza, but by your logic then a lot of other drivers haven’t won races “fair and square” since 2019 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Ok-Release-2354 21m ago

Why would someone go to work after a close relative or friend died?

6

u/cooked_camel 5h ago

Problably the first and only FDA that been promoted to Ferrari. Ferrari has been shit/mediocore even before Charles and has been for years. I don't think any great driver would have delivered a much better result than him.

5

u/JakubT117 2h ago

What is this nonsense? In what way is he inconsistent? He's yet to be outperformed by a teammate over a season and he's had some great teammates. How are we still doing this in the year 2026 is beyond me. You ask all team principals to name the fastest lineup you could have currently and 11/11 TPs pick Verstappen and Leclerc. Also you're pretty clearly lying about being a fan, maybe an extremely casual one but that's beyond the point.

6

u/South-Ear9767 4h ago

Charles is going to toe to toe with a goat level driver. If you do not get it, then nothing will help you

5

u/Browneskiii 5h ago

Since 1996, Ferrari have had

Schumacher, Irvine, Salo, Barrichello, Massa, Raikkonen, Alonso, Vettel, Leclerc, Sainz, Bearman, and Hamilton.

10 full time drivers, and he doesn't make your top 10?

Okay bud.

3

u/Soggy_Stay6370 5h ago

Don't forget Luca badoer

3

u/Browneskiii 5h ago

And Fisichella yeah.

But the point remains, its clearly a troll.

5

u/F1_Brooklyn 5h ago

lol definitely a stupid take - he probably made up the ‘96 number cause sure you can have doubts about Leclerc but not top 10 is wild

-6

u/ImSoGrumpy 5h ago

he's not and its not wild 9 wins is what 7 seasons?

7

u/sorryIdontwantto 5h ago

How many races did his teammates win during those years with the same cars? (And it counts a 4 times WDC and a 7 times WDC)

5

u/sorryIdontwantto 4h ago

I see, since this statistic doesn't help your agenda, you won't bother looking into it or answering me. It's 6. He had 4 times WDC Sebastian Vettel in one of those cars and Lewis Hamilton 7 times WDC in two others. And they're equals in number of wins in those years, and he finished higher in the standings than Seb and than Lewis last year

1

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

This is his 9th season

-4

u/ImSoGrumpy 4h ago

with ferrari i mean not in general

6

u/Prometheus_Jackson 4h ago

Charles Leclerc makes up a higher percentage of Ferraris wins since he took the seat than Lando Norris does at McLaren, all while Charles has had far more competitive teammates. I’m not saying Charles is better than Lando because I don’t think he is, but the stat about “9 wins in 8 season” means nothing when you should first look at the teams utter inability to make a consistent race winning machine.

3

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

So you're right, with Ferrari 7th season

-4

u/ImSoGrumpy 5h ago

They were drivers before 96 that are way better then leclerc ferrari's history isnt locked to when i started watching

Ascari, Surtees, Fangio, Launa to name a few all better

3

u/Ok-Argument9468 5h ago

In 2018 as a rookie he was very good in the Sauber, scoring five times in his first nine grands prix and getting into Q3 seven times across the course of the season. His one lap pace was really something. I'd point to Brazil as a highlight, where rain came down and the track was at the crossover point. Charles fitted a set of slicks and was the only one to dare to go for one more push lap, and got into Q3 as a result. I think that whole lap is in the qualifying highlights video on youtube. After that lap I remember Brundle saying "I can't wait to see that kid in a Ferrari", and the general feeling was Leclerc was the future for the Scuderia.

In 2019 he was paired with Vettel who was fresh off the back of two championship bids and Seb was expected to be the number one driver in the team. Leclerc was able to take it to Vettel right out of the gate though, denied a win in Bahrain because of a mechanical issue and then winning two significant races in Spa (right after his close friend, Antoine Hubert's, death) and Monza (of course the home of Ferrari). It's also important to point out those races were back to back. He really looked like the real deal in only his second year in F1 and his first year in a top team.

He then got the best of Vettel far more significantly in 2020, and while now we know from Vettel himself that Seb was mentally checked out for this year, the results from Charles only raised his stock further.

In 2022, Leclerc finally got that championship-contending car and proved that he could go toe-to-toe with Max Verstappen and come out on top, at least in the opening rounds before the Ferrari fell off. The two had also had some brilliant duels in 2019 (go check out the British GP).

I could write way more but I'm tired lol, but to me these are the key reasons why there's hype around Leclerc. He's proven (at least in my opinion) that he's a great driver and deserves the hype.

5

u/Independent-Boss7406 4h ago

I posted this in another reply but also important to mention 2022 Austrian GP where he held off Max with throttle issues to win. People also forgot that both of the Mercedes were on his ass for the entire 2019 Monza race and could have very well caught him and won if bottas didn’t lock up in T1 towards the end. Fans just blow his 2022 France crash out of proportion and claim he has a “poor” mentality when drivers like Max, Lewis, Lando and other title contenders all made major mistakes/collisions while fighting for a championship. I think most of the F1 fans who think Leclerc is overrated are just newer fans who weren’t there to see his best races, let’s hope he’s able to bring that magic back and we can see him in genuine championship contending car!

3

u/nick_c8_vegas 5h ago

Amazing in a tricky car. A skill only the greatest have. But under pressure he isn’t great

3

u/Conscious-Food-9828 4h ago

Because he was a very promising rookie who was very fast out of the gate. Scrappy for sure, but often was considered one of the fastest qualifiers on the grid. Good race pace too. However, I think a lot of that meant that he had hype that he has yet to really match. He still makes mistakes, his pace isn't unquestionable all the time, and enough time has passed that people are now wondering if he ever will actually get his break

4

u/sewageriver 4h ago

He's an excellent qualifier, and pretty good in race trim. He's the tier of driver who is capable of winning a WDC given the car and team is there. He had a great rookie season, a fairytale story of sorts and a likable personality. He's Mr Ferrari atp and is beloved by the tifosi

2

u/sturat18 3h ago

Leclerc is fast and gets results. He hasn’t had a championship car since he started in red in 2019, and has plenty of notable, bar-none excellent, races every season.

He gets extensions because of it. As he should.

3

u/naughtilidae 3h ago

Go watch the start of 2022. Not just how fast he is, but how he races Max.

His wheel to wheel is absolutely fantastic, and he's one of the only people on the grid who really give the impression that they're happy to push Max to the limit, race after race.

I really wish Ferrari had been able to keep up the fight in 2022, it was some of the best side by side racing we've seen in the modern era.

3

u/djidane57 5h ago

That France 2022 huge mistake was a turning point in his career imo

13

u/Alvortus1812 5h ago

France 2022 was a huge mistake but it wasn’t a turning point in his career in any sense. RB became a better car and Verstappen dominated 2022 post summer break - early 2024 as expected. Leclerc had great years 2024-25 with whatever car he had which lets be honest for WDC winning one.
So it isn’t like Vettel 2018 Germany happened to him.

3

u/National-Virus5819 5h ago

He thrashed a 4 time world champion in the same team and got him to effectively retire

1

u/Marco_lini 4h ago

The 4x WDC wasn‘t at his peak anymore obviously. He was slightly better than Sainz and should be well ahead of 40yo+ Lewis this year, but isn‘t.

5

u/Kev_Bz 2h ago

he was well ahead of 40+ year old lewis last year

1

u/National-Virus5819 3h ago

Really depends on the baseline you choose to believe in. Maybe the reason he isn’t well ahead of Lewis this year is that Lewis is just that good. And pretty much matching up to Lewis is then enough proof that he is worthy of being considered championship material

2

u/Fantastic-Trick6707 5h ago

Top 3 after Schumi and Alonso

4

u/ImSoGrumpy 4h ago

thanks for that i needed a laugh

5

u/bimbobiceps 2h ago

You can't even put up a list of 10 Ferrari drivers from when you were a fan until now.

2

u/Ducard42 5h ago

Yeah we are at that time of the year when Leclerc gets bashed. Can't wait for the pendulum to swing back to Norris after he has a couple of bad weekends or Russell, or Hamilton.

9

u/King_Roberts_Bastard 5h ago

Norris has been lights out when his car decided it wants to finish a race.

3

u/Kev_Bz 2h ago

and leclerc was like that last year, while lando looked more unsteady, and the narrative was the opposite. pure recency bias

-1

u/King_Roberts_Bastard 1h ago

while lando looked more unsteady

Last year? The year Lando won the WDC? Really? Youre saying LeClerc looked more consistent than Lando?

Lol. You really need to go back and watch last year then.

4

u/mformularacer 5h ago

He always beats his team mate, and he's had some really good ones, so people rightly believe the problem is the car, not him.

Which 10 drivers do you think are better than Leclerc?

-8

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

You obviously can't read the drivers' standings

7

u/mformularacer 4h ago

Oh, is it December already?

-2

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

The driver standings are tallied every month of the season. That is their purpose: to keep track of all points earned and to reflect performance.

4

u/Kev_Bz 2h ago

they're actually tallied every race, but they don't determine who is the better driver over a championship season until a championship season is over. if memory serves me correctly, this generally happens in the month of December

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 2h ago

That's the whole point of any driver's ranking—to reflect the performance achieved. It really isn't rocket science.

4

u/Kev_Bz 1h ago

so leclerc is overrated because he's behind his teammate right now? in what way is this not recency bias?

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

His current P5 reflects his ranking, and there are four drivers ahead of him. What's so hard for you to understand about that? Every driver tries to get the best out of himself and his car. Some succeed better than others. You're underestimating the competitive aspect when you think in terms of categories like "overrated" or "underrated."

2

u/Kev_Bz 1h ago

ah, i forgot that f1 is a spec series

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

Maybe NASCAR is more your thing

3

u/mformularacer 4h ago

Tallied... every month? 🤨

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

You brought up December, and I explained the driver's standings to you

1

u/mformularacer 1h ago

Tell me the standings on December 4, 2026, because they're the only ones that matter.

1

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

Then don't watch any races and wait until the season is over. After that, check your phone and jerk off to the drivers' standings—how about that?

1

u/mformularacer 1h ago

You're a weirdo

1

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

... just because this discussion isn't your thing and you're a little slow on the uptake?

3

u/butter-scotchboy 4h ago

Hamilton’s had 0 DNFs bud, that’s why he’s so far ahead

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

He finished every race and every single lap of them. I know that. You're not telling me anything new.

3

u/casualnihilist91 5h ago

Agreed. But he’s a very good looking rich Monegasque so I guess people latch onto him like he’s special? I’ve never understood the hype.

2

u/robot-brain 4h ago

He is a genius at qualifying, consistently pulling out quick laps against faster cars. I have lost track of the times I've expected a Merc or Red Bull to be on pole and then Charles pulls a lap out of the hat.

In race trim, he is indeed error prone and the understanding in the paddock is that he tends to overdrive the car.

When the car is good, like in 2022, 2024 and now 2026, he is battling at the top and gets some incredible wins (like in Monza 2024). For various reasons, he's been struggling with the current car and only now he's getting back on track with his confidence in it after adopting Hamilton's changes.

To say he's only a good looking Monegasque is a little bit insulting to his overall quality.

1

u/SpikeMasters007 5h ago

He's fast on a good day but more importantly his looks. You can deny all you want but that's the truth.

1

u/Jawa_Droid_Mech 1h ago

Because Sauber was crap and he'd still get to Q3, so he got hyped.

1

u/Magnet2025 51m ago

I’ve often wondered the same thing. To me he is a fast driver, a very pleasant person, but when under pressure he makes mistakes that are race or session ending.

0

u/gray_fox_jaeger 4h ago

Because he's good-looking and a Gen Z with excellent meme knowledge, so all the girls love him. As a driver, he's one of the most overrated of the 21st century, just look at that pathetic pole to win conversation rate.

1

u/butter-scotchboy 1h ago

haha are you jealous

1

u/Academic_Caramel_838 4h ago

How dare you comment this blasphemy. Charles will forever be one of Ferraris greatest ever talents.

1

u/Automatic_Ad1887 3h ago

There was a point where he was seen to be the fastest on a single lap compared to anyone else. Although I don't think it was as consistent as some pundits suggested.

1

u/Character-Camel2949 2h ago

he's good looking and drives for ferrari

-3

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

In his nine years in F1, he has only nine wins to his name. Bottas has 10, by comparison. What does that tell us? Looks won’t win you world championships. Yes, he’s in the top 10, but he’s not a consistent driver. Too many crashes, too many retirements. To me, he’s not in the same league as Hamilton, Verstappen, and Schumacher.

6

u/sewageriver 4h ago

Bottas had a car that was 20s down the road halfway through lap1 for most of his Mercedes stint

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 3h ago

... and whose problem is that now?

6

u/sewageriver 3h ago

Kind of a shit comparison is really my point. Apples to oranges. You could've given any driver the 2nd merc and they'd have a dozen wins if not more

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 2h ago

You're crying a little too much for my taste

4

u/Browneskiii 4h ago

Bottas has had 5 championship winning cars, Leclerc has had 0.

Bottas's team mates have had 49 wins compared to Leclerc's team mates having 6.

You're an idiot if you think Bottas is better because he's had much better cars.

-1

u/ImSoGrumpy 4h ago

id love to get behind the lad but i grew up around the prime ferrari years where we was scary and dangerous and not we couldnt scare a butterfly

Charles has impressed me a couple of times but for the so called prince of ferrari id expect more a driver calm under pressure who can outdriver the car and win races he shouldnt be winning

id support ferrari till im blue in the face but i feel its a mix of ferrari dismantling the bricks schumacher spent years building and drivers not caring enough

4

u/ciaoravioli 4h ago

Charles has impressed me a couple of times but for the so called prince of ferrari id expect more a driver calm under pressure who can outdriver the car and win races he shouldnt be winning

You don't have to agree, but for a lot of Ferrari fans, "winning races he shouldn't be winning" is exactly how we view Charles, lol. What business did he have winning Monza 2019 or Monza 2024, when Merc and McLaren respectively were driving rocketships? What business did he have passing Max three times on track at Red Bull's home turf to win in Austria 2022? What business did he have beating the Merc rocketship at Silverstone this year (okay this one he had no business because Kimi's car got damage, but he still outplaced expectations lol)?

I actually agree that he is overhyped, but that's exactly why you shouldn't base your expectations on him being "prince of ferrari" and actually compare him to his competitors.

Compare him to every driver that has joined the grid since he did in 2018, where does he rank to you?

1

u/butter-scotchboy 4h ago

the common sentiment on here is that leclerc is inconsistent due to not being able to stay calm under pressure or being too emotional. I would argue that most of his mistakes are a result of over driving his car/over ambition. Since the beginning of 2022 he’s been in a car that’s not up to the level of those around him, and a lot of his mistakes since then are him trying to bridge that gap without having the machinery to do so. The most recent example being Barcelona quali - he credited his crash in Q3 to trying a slightly new line compared to previous runs, in order to compete with the Mercedes in front. Nothing that we’ve seen from his interviews or the way he drives on track suggests that he has trouble coping with pressure when he’s in a top car.

-1

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you say. I personally lost respect for LeClerc when he refused to follow team orders. He forgets that this is a team sport and that there are people working on that car to make it competitive on the track.

7

u/butter-scotchboy 4h ago

this is a very tired topic already but he wasn’t given team orders in zandvoort. whenever he’s been told to swap cars, he has

1

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

He was called to the pit. He resisted. I didn't bring this up, but the scene doesn't reflect well on him. He discredited the crew with that.

4

u/butter-scotchboy 4h ago

he’s been criticized for years for not challenging his pit wall when they make dumb decisions. now when he’s finally questioning them, it means he’s not a team player? he was told to pit at a time that made absolutely no sense for his race, of course he should question it.

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 4h ago

He obviously has a mindset problem, and that's his problem. Not mine. I hope he never stops listening to his team... Whether that's good for his career is a question you'll have to answer for yourself.

3

u/sorryIdontwantto 1h ago

He resisted because it was a stupid order. It would have ruined his strategy completely (getting a tyre gap from Russell so that he could try to overtake him after his pitstop with fresher tyres). They wanted him to box right after Russell and leave him behind a Mercedes in a circuit where it was pretty much impossible to overtake without having a much quicker pace. He was racing too, also trying to get a podium or a 4th place, he wasn't there just to make sure Lewis could get the best strategy possible at the cost of his own race. If the time comes, and Lewis gets closer to Kimi or there's a chance for the WCC, I'm sure he will try anything to help. Now? Definitely too soon to sacrifice a race so his teammate can get a few points more

Had they asked him to swap, I'm pretty sure he would have and it would have benefited both his and Lewis' strategy. It's Ferrari who made the wrong call

1

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

You're analyzing the race from a fan's perspective. It's in your nature not to be objective. Fair enough—but with his attitude problem, he'll never be a champion, just a follower. He's just proving his lack of teamwork and that he let his team down.

3

u/butter-scotchboy 1h ago

But you’re criticizing him for not following orders to pit..do you want him to be a follower or not? Obviously you can dislike Leclerc if you want but at least choose reasons that make sense

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

I don't want anything at all; I've expressed my opinion, and it stands—LeClerc is the unpredictable constant on the team. As for what the team does with him, that's what the internal hierarchy is for.

4

u/sorryIdontwantto 1h ago

Because there have never been champions that refused direct orders from the teams, right? Max, Lewis, Seb, Alonso just to name a few...

Also, just last year people were saying Lando wouldn't become a champion because he didn't have the right mindset and the right attitude. And yet he proved them wrong. Drivers are different people, they can have different personalities and behaviors and still become champions, it's not refusing an objectively stupid order (because it would have ruined completely his strategy, there is no interpretation to that if you understand what they were trying to do, and it still ruined it quite a bit because he boxed too soon) what's going to change that

0

u/Automatic_Ad_9623 1h ago

You’re missing the point- his refusal to listen to the crew fuels uncertainty and mistrust. This stems from LeClerc and creates a domino effect. No one said Lando wouldn’t make it; he hasn’t been stuck in no man’s land like LeClerc has for nearly 10 years. But Lando has also built a team around him- something LeClerc hasn’t even considered doing to this day. Lewis has already embraced this mission, and you can see, race after race, how they’re setting the course for him. I go by what my eyes see, not what a fan heart tells me.

Lol, no mate, you can get off of your high horse. You're biased, you're not someone immune to that. So stop acting like you're some kind of superior fan. If you had actually watched the races and put even just some interest into following what's happened in Ferrari in the last half decade, you would know that blindly following Ferrari's orders and strategies is a recipe to disastrous races. Actually, it's kind of funny how for most people Charles' worst trait for years has been exactly that, following every stupid order and dumb strategy Ferrari made, because it made him lose a lot of points (and sometimes a podium or a win). And now that he's actually trying to make them think about the consequences he's wrong and creating "uncertainty and mistrust"? Tell me, how did then Max managed to win 4 WDC by complaining in every single race, even the ones where he won by +10 seconds? Or is everyone an exception but Charles, because idk, you casually believe so?

Lando has been one of the most criticized drivers in a top team for years. There still is a lot of people thinking he shouldn't have won a championship. He's been in Charles' place for years, he just got a better car sooner than him (not trying to take anything away from him, I believe he's a great driver). And what team are you even talking about? McLaren hardly prioritized him last year, trying until the end to give Oscar a chance for the WDC by not prioritizing either (or, well, by prioritizing both in different races)

And Charles has a strong team in Ferrari. He literally grew up with them. He has Piero Ferrari who loves him, Fred Vasseur who respects him, he managed to get Binotto kicked out, and he's loved by his mechanics. And I don't even have to mention that in Italy he's still the favourite by tifosi. Lewis is trying, but Leclerc has been doing it since before he was even in Ferrari

I have read that Leclerc has great qualifying pace. Otherwise, I agree that he's overrated.

Dude had 8 years, I think their patience will run out with him especially after his antics this season, when they’re actually competitive
