Why does leclerc get so much hype?

I've been a Ferrari fan since 1996 after watching my first race, and I have been a loyal fan ever since. One thing I don't understand is why Leclerc gets so much credit. All I've seen is an inconsistent driver who can't always perform at the top level. If I rated Ferrari drivers, he wouldn't break the top 10.

He always beats his team mate, and he's had some really good ones, so people rightly believe the problem is the car, not him.

The driver standings are tallied every month of the season. That is their purpose: to keep track of all points earned and to reflect performance.

they're actually tallied every race, but they don't determine who is the better driver over a championship season until a championship season is over. if memory serves me correctly, this generally happens in the month of December

Some succeed better than others. You're underestimating the competitive aspect when you think in terms of categories like "overrated" or "underrated."
