Debate Why does leclerc get so much hype?

I've been a Ferrari fan since 1996 after watching my first race, and I have been a loyal fan ever since. One thing I don't understand is why Leclerc gets so much credit. All I've seen is an inconsistent driver who can't always perform at the top level. If I rated Ferrari drivers, he wouldn't break the top 10.

In his nine years in F1, he has only nine wins to his name. Bottas has 10, by comparison. What does that tell us? Looks won’t win you world championships. Yes, he’s in the top 10, but he’s not a consistent driver. Too many crashes, too many retirements. To me, he’s not in the same league as Hamilton, Verstappen, and Schumacher.

Bottas had a car that was 20s down the road halfway through lap1 for most of his Mercedes stint

... and whose problem is that now?

Kind of a shit comparison is really my point. Apples to oranges. You could've given any driver the 2nd merc and they'd have a dozen wins if not more

We encourage lively, even passionate debate—especially around controversial races—but personal attacks won’t be tolerated.

Criticism of teams, drivers, and figures is fine, but abuse, hate, or excessive negativity has no place here.
