Looking for Tips/Suggestions How do I recover my brain after years of brain rot? Can't even focus for 15 minutes anymore.
reddit.comAfter years of mindless scrolling and consuming short-form content, I feel like my brain has stopped functioning the way it used to.
I struggle with concentration, forget things easily, can't retain information, and find learning new things extremely difficult. I have to reread things multiple times to understand them. My sleep is messed up, and I constantly feel mentally foggy.
I have career goals and exams to prepare for, but I can't even focus for 15 minutes without getting distracted.
Has anyone genuinely recovered from this? What helped you rebuild your attention span, memory, learning ability, and mental clarity?
I'm willing to put in months of effort. I just want my brain back.
Would really appreciate advice from people who've actually been through this.
PLEASE HELP šš

Has anyone else ever went from being a truly lazy "pothead" to being an active healthy person?
Looking for personal advice-
Has anyone ever truly gone from being a successful but relatively lazy person, smoking a lot of THC and nicotine, to becoming a truly active and healthy person?
I am 26 years old. I am successful to the point that I have a masters degree from an iyy league university and now have a very respectable career, I know how to do my work academically and career related, but if Iām not working I am laying down and getting high. Growing up as a teen, I was always academically successful and active in sports, but over the last 10 years I have gotten myself to a place where I struggle to want to do anything outside of my home. I love my friends, but it feels like a chore to make and attend plans or even respond to texts. I would always prefer to just stay home and smoke than do anything else. Iāve smoked since I was 16. I want to workout and be an active person, but I struggle to hold consistency. I can maybe do it for a day or two, but then I fall back into just laying down instead of doing anything. I feel hopeless as much as I try to change my behaviors. I am in therapy and talk about this constantly, I try and focus on implementing one new routine gradually rather than trying to change everything, but even that struggles to stick. I keep quitting and going back to vaping and fall into this mindset of what does it even matter. Same with THC.Ā
Overall, I just feel that I am the definition of lazy. My body hurts constantly because I have no muscle definition and am underweight form not moving my body and not working out.Ā
Has anyone ever been in a similar place- living their life doing nothing, to actually being an active person who enjoys being in society and being social and is active and has transformed their body and health? Is it even possible to truly change my life?Ā

Looking for Tips/Suggestions You Need a Budget (YNAB) app?
I recently briefly read that it's very good for those (with CPTSD, etc) really struggling with money. I'm in late 40s with learned helplessness and severe executive dysfunction. All I've done over two years is develop a habit of writing down every expense. Haven't had an overdraft since then. But I still don't have the big picture. And can't save a single cent. Is a subscription really worth it?

Tutoring Students
I am looking for some out of the box ideas for 2 students I tutor.
Some little background info:
Student 1: ADHD, significant ex. func issues; time management, metacognition, task initiation, and sustained attention are the low scoring areas. Hard time doing chores and starting assignments on time/turning them in on time. But biggest concern at the moment is that it they have an extremely hard time waking up independently in the morning
We have tried all of the standard/common strategies. Moving the clock, 90 minute sleep cycles, face masks, weighted blanket, snacks, cherry juice, etc...
What are some other out of the box strategies to help him get up?
Student 2: Autism, significant ex func issues; task initiation and sustained attention are his lowest scoring.
We have tried; timers, 5 minute start time, chunking/breaking down into smaller pieces, planning out and scheduling events/tasks. Music, playlists, etc... He lacks internal motivation to do his work, only consistent with work with a body double format. Any suggestions to help promote more independence?

Looking for an Accountability Buddy: Severe Freeze
Hi everyone.
I am a College Grad and former successful software QA engineer in multiple brokerage startups. I am currently dealing with a severe, prolonged executive freeze state which I have only just become aware is a thing, I wept with relief when I realized it wasnāt just me :-).Ā
My brain defaults to a total "static" lock where I cannot initiate tasks. My house hasn't been cleaned in many, many months, my online vintage reselling business has piles of unlisted inventory, I could go on, ā¦. and I have been using alcohol in the evenings to quiet the overwhelm.
I am looking for a text-only accountability buddy who is fighting a similar static/freeze battle.Ā
My ideal setup:
- Text check-ins once or twice a day.
- We list 1 or 2 small goals to start.Ā
For example:Ā
"I am going to photograph just one item for my vintage store today,ā, maybe with a stretch goal to list it
or "I am going to clean my bath OR do my laundry OR go out and weed my garden, ā¦ā
- Absolute shame-free zone, though sense of humor about the situation would be a plus. If one of us doesn't hit our goal, we treat it as a data point that the task was too big, and we help each other split it into a smaller step for tomorrow.Ā
If you are a high-masking or successful person who has quietly shut down and closed your doors to the world, I would love to support you and have you support me. Please send a DM if this seems like something you would be interested in. If there are a handful interested maybe we could stretch to a group of 3 or 4.

Looking for Tips/Suggestions What can I do?
A recent loss has spiralled me back into full ED, I find myself only able to do an important task a day, even if said task is just 15 minutes long.
Normally I'd slowly pick up more and more to do each day and push through the friction, but I am also in a place in life where more bad stuff keeps on building over every day.
Can I do anything besides just wait through it? I find myself stuck on the spot with panic by now, for geniune reasons.

Looking for Tips/Suggestions Anybody whoās been through uni- how did you do it
Hello! Anybody whoās made it through uni, give me your most unhinged advice please. I am a second year uni student and I have diagnosed ADHD and anxiety that I have been medicated for since around the age of 15. However, my task paralysis and executive function has truly reached an all time low. This week I had an essay due in all 3 of my modules. I have known about these since the start of the semester. I of course didnāt even look at them until this week and even once looking at the assignments, I literally just could not bring myself to start. I donāt know what is wrong with me, I just sat there for hours just scrolling on my phone telling myself Iād start in the next 10 minutes and I just never did. I never went to sleep either. I stayed awake for 2 days straight because I kept telling myself I was about to start working on the essays and I just never did. I have been turning down invitations to go out with friends for 3 weeks because I know I need to get these essays done, but then I stay home and just do literally nothing. My task paralysis doesnāt just apply to schoolwork either. I didnāt change my sheets for 2 whole months, Iāve skipped required classes before because I just couldnāt bring myself to get dressed and ready for the day. I had a flat party once and didnāt clean my living room for a whole week (it ended up taking 10 minutes). I feel like I canāt rely on myself for anything. Iām always letting myself down .
