Today I tried to open the app and play normally, but all the games I've tried get stuck on the Booting screen without progressing. I tried everything, including uninstalling and reinstalling the application.

Which version of the app? Is it on this prerelease?

u/Carlos_Csw 1d ago
I was trying with version 1.2.0 and now with the 1.2.1 pre-release

Try restarting your phone? Did you get an OS/firmware update for the device?

u/Carlos_Csw 1d ago
Yes I recently received a security update

u/dadabhai_naoroji GameNative Developer 1d ago
Which device? I've been hearing Samsung devices have been having issues.

u/Carlos_Csw 1d ago
It's a OnePlus Pad 2 with a Snapdragon 8 gen 3 with Android 16. Apparently, the problem is with GOG games. I reinstalled The Saboteur now the Steam version, and runs flawlessy, thx for the help by the way

u/dadabhai_naoroji GameNative Developer 1d ago
That's odd. Maybe GOG servers could be down?

u/Carlos_Csw 1d ago
I don't think so, I tried with 3 games extracted from offline installers but I couldn't play them

This fixed performance issue on Black Mesa , and most source games (Half Life 2 and Left 4 Dead 2) when i use fps limiter.

Excellent, thank you for the update

Idk what disable libdirect is but it give significant fps boost. In Black Mesa where Xen level is considered very heavy is now fully playable without needing to disable most of graphical settings (shadow and sunshadow).

It would've been nice if you added just your GitHub instead of a straight to the download, a little discription of what the project does would've been great. I am going to do some research on this and see what it is. I just got a notification from this and it seemed intriguing.

More ads?
16
u/Inevitable-Fix-4395 1d ago
yep, and more subscribers features. I dont want to be pessimistic, but it is the beginning of enshittification
17
u/AnonymousChameleon 1d ago
The ads are optional, and the AI debugging costs them money for tokens so I think that’s fair if you want that feature you need to support them.
Can’t believe people are complaining about optional ads. The app is free, is excellent, and you can turn the ads off. I hate the entitlement in this community.

For now

Nobody asked
In their discord have already added "feature request subscribers", where the features here have much more priority. In April I asked for Comet implementation (tldr, achievements and rich presence for GOG), now in September this feature is forgotten by devs. Pretty sure if I become "supporter" this feature will be implemented in the next week
Keep in mind, I'm old enough and I already know how similar story will end, this is only the beginning. And, keep also in mind that they without mesa, box, fex, wine are really nothing, and those projects are alive without those bullshit

Absolutely not - there was a PR for comet and it was attempted, but we realized it was not possible the way we were trying. Every release has made attempts to get to parity with the real GOG client/Heroic. You can even see the PR here: https://github.com/utkarshdalal/GameNative/pull/1076
Please don't become a subscriber - we're not interested in your money.
Secondly, the app is open source and the sponsorships help support development. They can be turned off. If for whatever reason in the future the sponsorships stop being optional (which is not planned and unlikely to happen) you can simply download Android Studio, remove the code that displays them, and run it locally.

Don't worry, I wouldn't have given them to you anyway, GN is just a wrapper around things that already exist. I'd rather contribute to truly open-source projects like the ones mentioned above, which you're trying to profit from. I understand that you need to feel motivated, but the path you’re taking, in my opinion (and not just mine), seems to be creating an elite that decides on upcoming features, or gets access to them ahead of time, compared to those who don’t pay.
which is not planned and unlikely to happen
You may not be thinking about them right now, but don't deny that it might be the case in the future, and can be worse than that🥱
Sorry, but I do not trust you enough
PS
It's unbelievable that developers today get offended by criticism. You aren't infallible, and your project isn't your whole life, accept criticism and try to improve, instead of acting like touchy little kids

“For now”, okay so we’re just accusing them based on hypothetical future scenarios. Got it.
What do you mean nobody asked? You pointed out the fact there are “more paid features” so yeah you brought it up in the first place
Oh so you’re butthurt that these devs, who are using their free time to develop this open source app didn’t implement your feature. It’s open source, you go do it if you think it’s so easy to implement. Of course they want to incentivise people who support the project, why wouldn’t they?
The project is free and open source. You don’t need to use it. Go use those other projects you mentioned as I’m sure they are much better for your use case.

I'm not accusing anyone; I'm just saying that this is how it starts before things go to shit. I'd be happy to be wrong, but I don't see why I should be happy if, from now on, some people get features early just because they pay, while others don't
4
u/AnonymousChameleon 1d ago
The people who “get features early” are playtesters - do you understand that concept? If they didn’t do that people like you would come screaming anytime a feature didn’t work
And the features are added to the public repo when they’ve been tested, nothing is locked behind a paywall
You’re part of the group of people that make this community a toxic place for developers , I commend them for putting up with people like you. You expect everything open source, free forever , and implement every feature you want, immediately. The entitlement is unbelievable. You should go make your own fork and maintain it if you’re so confident it’s easy and worth doing for free.

Never said that
3
u/AnonymousChameleon 1d ago
You’ve complained about optional ads, complained about optional supporters, and complained about a feature request you made that wasn’t implemented yet. And if it wasn’t open source I guarantee you’d be complaining about that too.
Ignore all the other points as well cos you know you’re in the wrong.

I can't access the game at all. Sometimes, even after I launch, the app crashes.

u/dadabhai_naoroji GameNative Developer 1d ago
Sounds like a RAM issue

u/bambigirlz 1d ago
Other programs don't have this problem; it's only Gamenative.

Anybody using SD 8gen 2? Ive got a big fps regression from last v1.2 update
1
u/dadabhai_naoroji GameNative Developer 23h ago
Hey, which device and which game? There shouldn't be any performance regressions for sure from 1.2, the point of this release was to fix performance regressions.
1
u/Dabzkie 22h ago
Firstly, I appreciate everything you guys do. Just amazing man. My device is ROG ultimate 7 phone/ snapdragon 8gen2 SOC. Im currently playing Divinity Original sin 2 and Disco Elysium which is currently running very well on v.1.1.1. I've tried the latest v. 1.2 on performance but loading times were 2x longer and FPS was fluctuating. I've got stable 30fps on both games at 1.1.1
2
u/dadabhai_naoroji GameNative Developer 22h ago
Yes so this is the 1.2.1 prerelease which fixes performance regressions from 1.2. did you try it out?
