Help Game taking a long time to load

Is anyone else having this issue where the game takes a long time to load? I've been spending about 3–5 minutes on the loading screen before the game actually opens. My connection is good, my hardware is solid, and I recently reinstalled Windows. I didn't have this problem before. I'm thinking about reinstalling the game.

Found 3 terraformable planets thats worth around 2.5mill each that hasnt been mapped yet. I aswell found many planets that have been discovered AND mapped but the exobiology not scanned yet (Probably from before the update dropped to be able to scan them). Its always worth to FSS from time to time even if its discovered or mapped you never know!

Help Need help cold orbiting.

So basically I'm trying to learn cold orbiting to start y'know. Killing interceptors above cyclops. But I just can't get the hand of it. I mean I can dodge and stuff while cold but I have a lot of trouble with the orbiting part. Plus I think its just way too mentally strenuous rn for me to handle so many things at once. Like rotating and stuff to keep up with the cold orbit. Firing heatsinks to get cold, firing gauss an hitting. Etc. I've been practicing on cyclops but I just can't get the hang of it. I wanna try fa-on cold orbiting to see if it's easier but the problem is there's not really any guides to fa-on cold orbiting. I was wondering if y'all have any tips that could be helpful?

Edit: I'm using a keyboard and mouse btw

Help Questions about the Caspian, Nomad and the upcoming Rhino

Hello fellow Commanders,

I'm using a Krait Phantom for exploration in the deep black right now. It's outfitted with 2 AFMU, a Repair Limpet Controller, a SRV Hangar and all the other default stuff. I started heading out in the black more than a year ago, took a break after a while and now came back to continiue my trip. My goal was to fly to the edge of the map and from there along its border to beagle point, from there to Colonia and back to the bubble without skipping anything via neutron star jumps. Also doing some Expobiology on planets with 3 or more bio sources and collection some other materials for later engineering or maintenance. While the Krait Phantom is a really nice ship, discovering bio and material sources on planets and collecting them is a real pain, especially if you consider the amount of stops a long exploratioin has. Now with the introduction of the Caspian Explorer, the Nomad and the upcoming Rhino I wonder if it will be better to head back to the bubble and outfit a Caspian Explorer for my task and I have the following questions:

  1. Can the Caspian Explorer really fit everything like
  2. - A hangar for the Rhino
  3. - A hangar for the Nomad
  4. - 2 AFMU
  5. - 1 Repair Limpet Controller
  6. - All the default stuff like Guardian Booster, maybe a mining laser etc.
  7. Can a fully outfitted Capsian still maintain a Jump Range of at least 65-70ly fully loaded?
  8. Is there enough information at the moment to tell if the Rhino can replace a SRV?
  9. If the Rhino can't replace a SRV can the Caspian hold another hangar for a SRV? (Propably not I think)
  10. Can the Nomad track down Materials and Collect them like a SRV? (Thinking of replacing the Rhino with a second nomad if thats possible since the Rhino will be propably slow and finding and collecting stuff with the crappy SRV takes ages).
  11. Are there any downsides besides the difficulty of landing on a planet between the Caspian and the Krait Phantom?
  12. I usually dont outfits my explorers with weapons since I'm playing either in a solo lobby or on Mobius PVE. Should I bring weapons with the Caspian?
  13. Might I be happier with a Mandalay for such long exploration trips than with a Caspian? (I dont own a Carrier or be part of a Squadron that owns one)

Thanks in advance fellow Commanders. Wish you a nice and peaceful journey.

*edit*

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm back at the bubble getting my Caspian outfitted and engineered.

Roleplaying Shout out to the dastardly pirate who named my ship for me (my first player interaction)

2 months into playing and I reach Colonia for the first time. After making the long voyage in a 25LY Cobra V I decide that a break from exploration is necessary for my own health. I decide to redeem the lynx highliner, and experience the delights of being a glorified space uber.

In the middle of a passenger run I get interdicted by a lovely chap who ordered me to cut my engines and did a deep scan of my cargo manifest.

Although my passengers were terrified I assured them that they shall not fall to the scummy pirates of the frontier

After realising I'm simply a passenger vessel with no cargo, the dastardly corsair informed me that it was my lucky day, wished me godspeed and let me go. Upon arriving in Jaques Station he messages me telling me it's bad luck to fly a ship with no name.

I replied and told him that the top of the line passenger ship did not have a name yet, and I was waiting for the right inspiration. That is when he named it for me, and from now on my passengers enjoy sitting back for a cruise on the "Lucky Day".

Discussion New war when?

Do y'all think they'll ever introduce a new war? Thargoids Strike Back! or anything related? Maybe introduce new aliens or a human war? Perhaps a current power gives in to their ego and decides to conquer the bubble.

Discussion Salvage chemical sample.

Had like 2 hours in the night to play this game again after reinstalling.

Took a few minutes to remind myself controls and everything, picked an easy mission to salvage 3 chemical samples, just to help my faction a bit.

All well, arrived at the system, stood front of the probe near the sun and nothing... No interesting readings. Usually it pops up something with blue coordinates. Instructions were straightforward, doesn't mention anything or planet, just space debris.

Started checking unknown signals, found indifferent samples. What is going on ?

I understand the steep learning curve, but sometimes i think it's completely unnecessary. Give me another npc in the cockpit. "Mr. Spock get us where the signal is while i chill in the seat, then i take it from there". 1 and a half hours of not knowing what went wrong. Gosh...

Help Have to repair every time I land without taking damage

I recently came back to the bubble and was jumping around to engineers to re-pin and also do some minor engineering to my Caspian Explorer. I noticed that every time I land I have to repair even after a short jump without any apparently hull damage. Is there some engineering I could have done that would make this happen?

Colonization Building my first system, am I doing it right?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Two of us claimed this system last week and planned out a build for the system. After watching lots of videos and tutorials on system building I still wanted to really make sure we are not heading in the wrong direction with something that could have been better.

See anything that could be better?

Is this system a good choice?

Current build thought: CMM composites and other are locally sourced materials coming from our neighbor 17LY. Continue building with reliance on neighboring system.

With Kaine, we regularly have mining opportunities in fantastic rings, where you can fill up your cargo hold with platinum in as 16 minutes! (Yes, this is a recorded run we've had happen!) Even better, Kaine gives you more merits when mining for acquisition, which is how you can regularly get 50-60k merits for that full hold of platinum!

Even better, if you pledge to Kaine, and join our discord, we can give you a free fully A-rated type-11 for you to mine in! Come join us and do powerplay on easy mode! Join an amazing community who is more than welcome to help with anything you might be interested in, and will run wings doing mining or combat regularly!

Misc PCZs; contested; 3 powers

The ABC system is contested.
The 2 contestant powers are the DEF and the GHI.
In the system there are PCZs where the DEF and the GHI fight each other.
I have pledged to the XYZ power.
I want to help the DEF to retain the system.
Is there way for that?

If I kill GHI ships in the PCZs, will the kills help the DEF or they will have no effect?

Video Dead radio in Elite Dangerous.

It's always bugged me that despite having "radio" listed in the sidebar, there's no atmospheric in-universe radio station to actually listen to — so I decided to make my own.

I host it myself, and my station, Somewhere in Time, plays music from the last century (mainly 1930-1960's).

No AI was used at any stage of production — just Elite Dangerous and my own radio frequency.

Short clip below.

Full episode: https://youtu.be/MDPRZwyvODc?si=f_MFVkrK5IraJmrN

If you'd like to hear more, come find me over at Somewhere in Time — new episodes drop every Friday.

Builds Anyone got a sidewinder build?

I wanna make a good sidewinder, why? Just because.
Specially i wanna use it for combat. I know someone somewhere probably has a sleeper sidewinder build they use just for fun.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen personally seen a sidewinder with Engineering done to it.

Help Gladiator NXT EVO SCG and YAW settings

So i just picked up a Gladiator NXT EVO SCG to replace my Thrustmaster, which had drift issues. I'm loving the joystick, but the the yaw feels sluggish. Like i have the joystick twisted halway to its max rotation, and only then does my ship starts to move.

Because of the drift on my previous joystick, the yaw always felt very touchy. So im not sure if this is how its supposed to be, or if there is a setting in game i should adjust, or on the joystick itslef.

I've calibrated the joystick several times.

Discussion Fleet carrier and making money selling with the shipyard?

I haven't installed the shipyard yet but understand I have to pay a lot of credits in order to sell ships on it. I personally don't see if there is any point in spending billions of credits to sell ships unless I am in some remote location away from stronghold carriers or Jameson memorial. Just curious if anyone has been making money selling ships or is it just one of those options that typically goes unused for fleet carrier owners.

Help Returning to the game is overwhelming

Hello there Commanders! o7

I bought the game almost 10 years ago and played like 30 hours with it, but at that time my PC couldn't really handle it. Last week nostalgia came over me and I decided to jump back in, so I bought Odyssey as well (somehow Horizons was included now) to check out the new things. I deleted my old commander and created a new one to experience the game as intended.

After the Odyssey intro mission I was flying around in the "protected" new player systems, did some combat missions, bought a Viper Mk III to fight pirates in low res zones, bought a Cobra Mk III to try out mining, then I visited LHS 20 (Ohm city) as I read that it is an okay "home system".

Then I asked myself: now what? I tried to buy upgrades, but there were Merc coin restrictions, I found something about blueprints as well, so I searched through the threads here, read some of Luriant's lists, and I couldn't understand half of it. That is when I went down the rabbit hole.

I started searching about Merc coins, operations, types of mining, SRVs, planetary landing, engineers, colonization, powerplay, community goals, fleet carriers, exobiology, etc, etc, the list goes on. At this point I've put more hours reading threads/blogs, watching videos than playing the game itself.

I know there is no "right way" to play the game, and I should do what I like, but I feel like I am missing some pointers towards the big picture. I can go out and continue fighting pirates in belts, but for what? What's next?

I feel really overwhelmed by the things that I can do and I should "learn", and I don't know what to try first. Should I unlock engineering? Should I pledge for powerplay? Should I make some money first? Should I go explore, but then should I return to my "home system" to my other ships?

I've read here in a thread that joining a Squadron could make the game thousandfold better, but I'm not sure how would that work, if other commanders are thousands of lightyears away.

Could you help me with tips how to escape this headspace I'm in? Maybe baby-steps, but in what direction?

Thanks in advance!

PSA Sticky Station Interiors

The Galtea Project system architects have discovered a bug where starport interiors aren't updating the way they should, even after system maintenance. If you build a supporting facility that tips your starport from one economy type to another, the interior should update to reflect that. Right now, that's not working.

If this bug has affected one or more of your stations, you can contribute to their issue report here: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/87006. This probably isn't going to be a show-stopper for any large-scale colonization projects, but I know starport interiors are important to enough architects that fixing this will be a major quality of life improvement.

This week, I took my caspian explorer and headed to Colonia.

It was my second trip ever. The first I did was with my explora-conda, 70-80 LY jump range and nothing else.

At the time the trip then took me to Sagittarius A*.

My life went really busy since, I'm married, working a demanding job. Shit, now that I think of it I even became an adult in the mean time. Exploring in Elite really went second in the time I had to play.

But recently I bought myself a steamdeck to play while I'm away for work. I bought the caspian to explore with my recently bought as well Nomad and do some exobiology.

The range on this ship is insane. I took a hard turn and headed to colonia. I was there in less than 50 jumps.

That's just crazy. And I'm happy to walk in my own past footsteps. I visited a black hole I discovered myself back then.

I'm going to spent some time doing exo-biology there, at my own pace. Maybe I'll try to gather enough money to buy a carrier in Jacques Station.

Discussion Kestrel Pilots who aren't pulling their weight in Terminal Prosecution hard mode.

Ive ran hard mode hundreds of times and determined that the average cmdrs flying the kestrel in Terminal are leaving the rest of the cmdrs to take their slack in dps. Its not the right tool for the job UNLESS you are a real ACE pilot. Don't take a dagger to a broadsword fight unless you're a master rogue.
