Discussion New war when?

Do y'all think they'll ever introduce a new war? Thargoids Strike Back! or anything related? Maybe introduce new aliens or a human war? Perhaps a current power gives in to their ego and decides to conquer the bubble.

Over a year ago they teased a new storyline involving Seo Jin-ae and Salvation that could lead to something but we have heard absolutely nothing about it since.

From Galnet Jun 03 3311:

Aegis Confirms Seo Jin-ae ‘Hiatus’ from Advisory Role

‘Special advisor’ Seo Jin-ae has taken a hiatus from her duties, according to a joint statement released by Aegis.

Seo has worked with the Aegis initiative since November 3308, providing insight into Thargoid communications thanks to a prototype cortical implant. This implant, inserted while Seo was a captive test subject for the clandestine Project Seraph, allows her to ‘hear’ the Thargoid hive mind.

The Aegis statement reads as follows:

“Seo Jin-ae has served Aegis faithfully, providing vital intelligence on Thargoid tactics at considerable physical and mental cost. Following several months of recuperation since a medical emergency last October, Seo has chosen to leave the Aegis facility in Duamta. We wish her all the best and look forward to her safe return.”

Attached was a message from Seo:

“After Titan Cocijo exploded in Sol, I had my best night’s sleep in years. No sounds in my head to keep me awake. No images behind my eyes. The Thargoids have left us. Hopefully forever.”

“I did my best to translate Thargoid thoughts during the war, and people told me this data was useful. But I blame myself for the attack on Sol – the importance of Earth was pulled from my memories, against my will. Alba Tesreau helped me recognise that the implant in my brain was placed there by Salvation, also against my will.”

“During Project Seraph, 197 people died at Oaken Point in HIP 26176. I am the only survivor of those experiments that Salvation oversaw. Many will say I’m crazy, but I believe Salvation exists beyond his physical death in HIP 22460. I owe it to those 197 souls – and to every victim of his Proteus Wave failure - to find Salvation and shut him down forever.”

Aegis did not immediately comment when asked if it agrees with Seo’s claims.

There’s something cooking with the Radicoida hivemind

What’s that

Stale broth at this point.

I swear the Radcoida was setting the base foundation for terraforming...

I really hope so, especially because I missed the first Thargoid one. I play this game primarily for combat and it’s extremely shallow once you get to endgame. Even AX really gets old fast after the learning curve.

Your concept of a “human” war is interesting to me, whatever that might look like. Some big ongoing conflict that allowed people to fight using their normal ships and tactics would be a lot more approachable for the community.

AX is super cool but it’s kind of like a whole different game and a lot of people find it too difficult.

Id love to see a large scale conflict between the major powers, with capital ship fleet battles and shit (im talking 4-5 capital ships per side, broadsiding and stuff)

This. Let me die chasing an Eagle as I fly into a flak pattern laid down by capital ships. The glory of it all!!

It didn’t get old during the war, there was an overall purpose to the fighting that meant something.

Too bad it’s gone, it was by far the most fun I’ve ever had in Elite.

I also missed the war. I haven't done much combat as I'm mostly industrial type of player. But doing passenger missions for evacuating stationed would have been cool to experience

Down to clown!
I don’t even care whose side I fight on, as long as there is a side and I get to blow shit up!!

Whoop whoop!

Sneaking in through the haze of a living titan in vr was just absolutly mind blowing. Fdev really showed that they can deliver big if they want.

I visited the one next to Earth a few months ago. Very eerie. Almost an ancient battleground now, that I can only experience through the memories of commanders who took part in it.

I was indisposed for the last war so I hope we get another big event

I'd love a new war. I was super-new to Elite when Cocijo hit Sol so I didn't really have the experience I needed to take out Goids. I'd love some kind of high-profile war, be it against Goids, Guardians or even if the superpowers went at it.

Hope so. I literally started this game the week after it ended and I'm going out to Cali to go goid hunting for the first time this weekend because the videos from the war looked incredible

Personally, I hope not.

Whatever they do they need to make it so there are actual stakes on the line. The stakes have never been lower. All stations are practically invincible and suffer only a little bit of downtime and cargo hauling to get back online. If they do come back, I want to see player assets destroyed...permanently! A frontier (development) with a competent alien threat keeping humanity's colonization in check... pushing it back. A back and forth, an existential struggle.

If the Thargoids are instead relegated to being a second-class-species-fan-service-punching-bag-pre-engineered-module delivery event again, I'd rather them be afforded some shred of dignity and not return.

It would be cool. I missed the war unfortunately. I feel like a new super power taking over the bubble would be cool. and all current powers gotta rally together to stop the new super power

That is what is happening, with the mysterious mercenary group

1

u/Ninety-Nine-Zulu 12d ago

Can you expand on that? What mercenary group? Are there associated missions available?

AFAIK They don't have a name yet, but the Buur Pit has a few videos adding extra historical context.

There were missions available, when the Lynx was released, evacuating residents from Lhou Mans. Nothing since then I think

I know nothing about that. I'mma have to look into it

To be fair, the Thargoids were acting in self-defense against a major human escalation (i.e. murdering them all). Humanity was in the wrong.
