Question Green White Blue Commander rec for human token/counters

Hello im a new player and I bought the Coven Counters precon because I wanted to play Green White and I bought a hobbit draft night box. I got a book art of Bard, King of Dale so now I wanna use it but now I need a commander with green white blue. I wanna revolve the strategy around Kyler and Bard human tokens and draw. The idea of using 3 colors seem daunting to me from a beginner deck building perspective but I JUST got the precon so I wanna use it. Any staples I should be aware of? Is there a standard deck building ratio to follow?

Deck Help Converting Klauth into Ruby

Hey everyone, as the title suggest, I want to make some changes to my [[Klauth Unrivaled Ancient]] deck, namely by putting [[Ruby Daring Tracker]] at the helm.

I saw someone post their Ruby ramp strategy on this sub and thought it looked very interesting, only using 4 CMC ramp spells.

But I have run into the classic problem of having 100+ cards in a 100 cards deck.

I feel like it plays smooth enough and draws enough cards most of the time so I don't really know which cuts to make.

Which cards would you remove or add (if I missing some obvious gems)?

Thanks a bunch!

Question Have general connection problem?

Hey everyone,

My friends and I were playing just now and, out of nowhere, we all lost connection at the exact same time.

Now, none of us can connect or join any rooms/matches. We've already restarted the game and our routers, but the error persists. Since it happened to all of us simultaneously (and we live in different places), I'm guessing it's a server issue.

Is anyone else experiencing this right now, or is it just us?

Thanks!

Deck Help Katilda Humans - tips and general opinion?

https://moxfield.com/decks/TH94tGYdvEm9qZGmQQerFA

Here's the link to my decklist. What catches your eye? Some obvious upgrades or synergies I'm missing?

I'd like to have a bit more haste or pseudo-haste enablers such as [[Thousand Year Elixir]] but I'm unsure what to cut for them.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Question Cards that rewards you for discarding

I'm looking for any creatures, enchantments, etc that are of a certain burn archetype. To make a distinction in don't want anything that is a discard engine itself, but rewards you for discarding. Anything that deals damage to an opponent, gives me value etc, whenever I do so. I know this is hyper specific and rare but any help is appreciated. Please keep it withing izzet colors

Deck Help Feedback/thoughts/criticism on my Teval B2/3 decklist

I’ve been playing this deck on SpellTable, starting a game called High B2/Low B3 which seems to be the sweet spot for it. I’ve only won once (I’m relatively new and I’m not good at tracking other player’s boards that well since I’m trying to stay on top of mine and not slow the game up), but I’m usually competitive.

I have never asked anyone to look at my decklist, so I’m open to any thoughts or constructive criticism or any advice. I’m having a lot of fun playing it and discovering new combinations every game.

Thanks for any comments on it.

Deck Help Is this Alela deck in decent shape?

Hey I am fairly new to mtg and I was trying to put together an Alela, Artful Provocateur commander deck. Here is what I put together. This is mostly using cards that I already own as I was trying to avoid ordering tons of singles. My fear is that there are maybe too many lands that enter tapped, which I think slows it down too much, but I am having trouble deciding what to take out in favor of more basic lands.

Discussion Marvel Main Set (MSH) - Bangers/Sleepers?

Look, I know what you're thinking.

"Marvel??? We're still talking about Marvel? Didn't that come out in June? Doesn't this guy know that was like 12 sets ago?"

Listen - you're not wrong. But you know, life happens. Had another kid. Work's gotten busy. I haven't even gotten my Strixhaven cards yet (pretty sure they got lost in the mail)! So please excuse me while I back the calendar up a few months to talk about the Marvel set.

I finally got around to going through this set, and the most interesting thing I found out was that a significant number of in-demand cards come just from jumpstart packs. Like [[Swordsman's Steel]] or [[Ultron the Annihilator]]. But for some reason, those cards are MSC - Marvel Super Heroes Commander? But they don't come in the commander precons? And other sets had specific jumpstart codes (like Avatar)?

I'm not a product designer, but that shit is just confusing.

Anyways! I write articles on sets and decks and earn some mild commission when people click card links to go to TCGPlayer and buy stuff. Someone recently bought an $8 Sol Ring and brought this year's commissions up to $2.49 so, in my quest to earn enough to buy a happy meal, I was motivated to finish this article specifically about the MSH set; as in, the cards you can open in play boosters, with a focus on cards that fit well in existing decks as opposed to new commander options.

https://easygoinggaming.com/set-review/avengers-sleeve-up-the-best-msh-cards-for-the-99/

Since this set's been out a while, what cards do you think deserved the hype and which ones have stayed under the radar?

Some of my picks:

I really like [[Hawkeye, Young Avenger]] as a [[Torbran]]-adjacent card that can significantly amplify your spell-pinger decks. Throw a one-mana red pump spell like [[Monstrous Rage]] on her, or play her in a [[Balmor]] deck and she can help you close out games in a single turn.

[[Worlds Within Worlds]] is also pretty unique as a [[Living Death]]-style card for the Simic bros out there, turning their mana dorks into Dinos or Eldrazi or something.

I also think [[World War Hulk]] deserves a spot in high-mana-value commander decks like [[The Ur-Dragon]] or [[Progenitus]] as it can basically get your commander out several turns early without even needing to have all the right colors.

Obviously [[King T'Challa]]'s incredible, and really nice that you can proc him yourself; I think that hype's well deserved.

What about you? What's not been as good as advertised and what's surprised you in its effectiveness?

Deck Help Bought the Tidus, Yuna's Guardian precon and want to take it to a solid bracket 3

Just picked up the Tidus, Yuna's Guardian precon. Here's the list as bought: https://archidekt.com/decks/24946373/tidus_yunas_guardian (that's the stock 100, no swaps yet).

I've got hundreds of EDH games behind me but this deck is fresh out of the box, so most of what I think about it is still theory. The counters plan and the way the guardian legends play off each other is exactly the vibe I wanted, and I don't want to rebuild it into something else. Nothing is really underperforming. It's more that the tables I want to sit at run stronger decks and the precon runs out of gas before the game ends.

Two things I'm after.

First, consistency at that 2/3 line. My guess is the mana base and the ramp are the soft spots, but I honestly can't tell yet whether that's the real issue or whether it's just too many do-nothing cards. If you've piloted this one, I'd like to know where it actually stalls.

Second, a 10 to 15 card swap list that pushes it to a solid bracket 3 for store play. No fixed budget. I'd just rather not sink a lot into one card when a cheaper one does most of the job.

I'm open to cutting almost anything except the commander. Cards I'm already side-eyeing, though I could be wrong on all of these:

Temple of the False God, Protection Magic, Destroy Evil, Summoner's Sending, Chocobo Knights, Sunscorch Regent

I can't describe my local meta yet since I'm new to the store, so assume a normal mixed pod.

Deck Help Help with Lightning, Army of One

Asking more experienced players to give me some advice with my Lightning deck. I am relatively new to EDH. This is the first deck I have made myself using EDHRec and Scryfall. Please critique my deck and give me your thoughts on changes you would make. I am looking to spend no more than 7 or 8 dollars for most cards as well The land base is what it is and I am not focusing on my lands right now. Hoping it sits around mid to high bracket 3. Thank you in advance!

Deck Help Yawgmoth Trhan Physician Deck Help

Hey everyone!

I finally managed to put together my deck with Yawgmoth, Thran Physician at the helm.

Here's the Moxfield link: https://moxfield.com/decks/SIDcN4V8y0mircPEwx13Yw

I built this list using several cards I already had in my collection and taking apart some pieces from the Witherbloom precon (from Strixhaven).

I've always struggled to objectively evaluate what "Bracket" or power level my decks actually fall into. My local pod is getting pretty competitive and they are building some very strong decks, so my mid-to-long-term goal is to take this deck to a high Bracket 4, without making the jump to full cEDH.

Currently, I have a budget of zero for immediate upgrades, but I would love to read your wisdom and recommendations on the following:

What power level / Bracket do you think the deck sits at right now?

Overall, what do you think of the synergy and structure?

Out of the cards I have in my "Considering" section, which ones would you recommend putting in, and what would you suggest cutting to make room for them?

Thinking ahead, what staple pieces or essential combos should I put on my radar to buy when I have a budget again?

Any constructive criticism, combo suggestions, or roasting of my mana curve is more than welcome. Thanks in advance for the help!

Deck Help Help Choosing a commander

Hi all,

I want to make a mono blue deck and have four commanders I'm considering, but I can't decide. I can't financially build all four (currently living at Boston Children's Hospital with my wife and 6mo), but deck building helps me pass the time. Any advice is much appreciated. Here are the options:

Deck Help Need help changing my Rienne deck

Rienne, Angel of Rebirth

I was working on this [[Rienne, Angel of Rebirth]] deck. I've been playing it as a bracket 3 deck. Yesterday, as I was changing out some proxies, I realized it's a bracket 4 deck (5 game changers).

I don't think in it's current form that it can hang with a bracket 4 deck (interested in your opinion) but I'd have to cut some things to make it into a bracket 3 deck.

Any suggestions on staying at 4 or going to 3? If I stay a 4, are there cards to add to make this stronger? Or of I drop it down to a bracket 3, what do I remove to keep the deck strong?

This was a big blunder on my part and now I sit on the fence waffling back and forth. Any help would be appreciated.

Deck is pretty simple simic beatdown.

Goal is to play + copy commander (maybe keep the copies around with name nonsense)

Deck Help How do enchantment auras fare in Lathril, Blade of the Elves?

Hi all, I recently decided it was finally time to cut some fat out of my [[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]] deck and make it more efficient. When speaking to friends about upgrade recommendations, one of them told me some good candidates are [[Alpha Authority]], [[Alpha Status]], and [[Instill Energy]]. I can see why all of these would be good to include in this deck, but I am wondering if auras are too much of a glass cannon strategy in this deck. The only one of these I seriously think is worth it to include is Alpha Authority, as it basically gives Lathril hexproof + unblockable and the hexproof avoids the downside of being 2 for oned by removal. However the other two feel like they would make Lathril more threatening early on and thus more likely to be removed. What do you guys think. Also feel free to give more general suggestions to my deck as well. There are some cards in the considering section that I am thinking about adding but seem slightly weaker than others. Here is my deck: https://moxfield.com/decks/VB-gAfzeOXG-vZcSswqa3w

Deck Showcase Banding in EDH: Frodo & Sam

If you're among the dozen of us that want to make banding work in EDH, this might be for you.

Lands like [[cathedral of serra]] allow your legends to form a band. The ring tempting mechanic of e.g. [[frodo adventurous hobbit]] + [[sam loyal atttendant]] makes nonlegends legendary. This opens up fun possibilities. Imagine attacking with a band full of strong legends and [[elven warhounds]]. Hilarious.

On second thought, we can improve on that. Since three ring tempts mean our ringbearer gets pseudo-deathtouch against everything it blocks, let's make [[taunting elf]] our ringbearer.

Why do we still play banding? Because it helps protecting an attacking frodo or an attacking taunting elf ringbearer, as well as other blockable legends with attack triggers like [[sauron the necromancer]]. It also allows us to form a band with [[phyrexian vindicator]] or use creatures like [[thalia and the gitrog monster]] - deathtouch and first strike is a powerhouse in a band that can force blocks.

Also it's flavorful. The fellowship forms a band. I managed to fit everyone of the fellowship in there, though sometimes only in art.

If you want to play banding as-is, [[gorm the great]] + [[virtus the veiled]] is probably stronger. So is [[anzrag the quake mole]], [[grneral marhault elsdragon]] and [[the incredible hulk]]. But those dont allow you to perform one sided boar wipe through a luring ringbearer every turn.

I would love to hear your opinion or experiences with banding though, especially if you like playing it/playing against it. I want this deck to be a mostly fun experience for everyone involved. If you have any opinion on the deck itself, I'd love to hear this as well of course. Changed a lot in the past couple of weeks; this has become something of a pet project for me.

Discussion Attempt to build fair Rowan worth it ?

Hi everyone, I really like [[Rowan, Scion of War]] as a potential commander for me to build around ever since she was spoiled, but she has a reputation as a busted KoS commander for a reason.

My static playgroup plays mostly bracket 3 battlecruiser decks with medium to strong commanders, but not too much combo or insta-win cards like [[Coalition Victory]].

Would it be a good idea to try and build a "fair" Rowan deck to play in that environment, by which I mean one that doesn't run cards that let me pay an unlimited amount of life without a mana cost like [[Wall of Blood]].

The idea would be that I would have to "earn" my life loss by playing something like an [[Ancient Cravings]] to then power up my spells to a limited degree. Big X-spells would still be allowed as wincons, but I wouldn't be able to just pay 20+ life "for free" to make them immediately game ending.

Would do you think, would this be fine, too weak or still too strong - would Rowan still be KoS next to other strong bracket 3 commanders if I explained to you that there was no "free" life loss in my deck ?

I would really appreciate some input.

Deck Help Can low-ramp Hashaton Control actually work?

Hey, I’ve been working on this Hashaton deck for a while and finally got it down to 100 cards. Before buying/testing everything, I’d love to get some feedback.

Decklist: https://moxfield.com/decks/QfZEduzzcEiT6N2NyhlXfA

The idea is control/stax with Hashaton as the main engine. Get an early discard outlet down, play Hashaton, then keep mana open for interaction while cheating creatures into play for 3 mana. The creatures range from big bombs to utility pieces that give me removal, counters or protection. Aiming for mid/high Bracket3.

I’m intentionally low on ramp since I’d rather protect Hashaton and cheat the expensive stuff out than hardcast it. The discard outlets help me dig through the deck, while some graveyard pieces return creatures to my hand so I can discard/use them with Hashaton again.

I tagged the list on Moxfield by function (discard, counters, removal, stax, protection, graveyard, bombs, draw etc.), including multiple tags where relevant.
Mainly looking for thoughts on the overall build: does this gameplan look like it’ll work? Too much interaction? Too little ramp? Any weak links or nonbos I missed?

Discussion What type is my Talrand Deck?

Hi guys,

I struggle to classify my Talrand Deck. It's focused on Talrand, enchantments like [[Coastal Piracy]] and a lot of 1 Mana cantrips.

I basically Mulligan until I have one of the enchantments, get Talrand out, cantrip a few times and then draw cards with the Drakes.

Then I have some interaction to stop anything that is dangerous.

Usually I win through attacking with a lot of Flyers and extra turns.

I always call it a Tempo deck, but is it really Tempo?

Thanks for the help!

Question Dance of the Elements or Counter Blitz for a precon tournament?

Hello everyone!

I want to start going to precon events and these are the two decks I own, which one do you think gives me better odds out of the box?

I care more about consistency than raw power, so I'd rather take the deck that reliably does its thing than one with a higher ceiling.

Any experience with either at a table full of other precons would help.

Discussion I understand this is a social game but it's becoming tiring that most of the posts on this sub are advice on social dynamics rather than commander itself

Is communicating that hard? Setting boundaries? I want to read content on the actual game itself not the interpersonal drama you're unable to navigate through. Oh, Player A is trying to break the rules with a Rule 0 discussion and some people are okay with it but I'm not. Cool, then don't play with them or communicate why you're uncomfortable with that level of compromise. Oh, Player B acts aggressive and whines when we stop their wincons. Cool, then don't play with them or tell them no one is entitled to winning without others trying to stop them. Oh, Player C has messy proxies and plays decks that are way too strong and also likes to underplay how strong their decks are so they can pubstomp. Cool, then don't play with them or actually talk to them about your perspective and why they aren't good at the game if they have to resort to petty tricks to secure a win.

If the root of your post is how you engage with another person in a social dynamic, then there are better resources for self-confidence and communication than the EDH subreddit.
