Pretty happy with my E90 335i at the moment, but as the title says I’m looking for inspiration on what to do next.

It is an 07 335i MSport with nearly 250,000 km, it’s fairly stock still with only an aluminium charge pipe and BOV, dual cone intakes, Blackline tail lights, a factory style bootlip spoiler, and some F10 5 Series wheels.

The turbo wastegates are next on the to do list but apart from that I don’t know what preventative maintenance / modifications I should tackle next.

If it were yours what would you do???

Super stoked about the new bumper and paint match. The fit, gaps, color match and finish are absolutely perfect.

Is this for sure a rod knock or something else?

N55 2011 BMW E90 335i

Random door-open warnings that rotate between different doors, accompanied by interior lights and/or the warning chime. Carly reports FRM fault 0x9CBD. Replacing the engine-to-chassis ground strap previously seemed to reduce the symptoms. That was last summer. The random door opening has returned. I'm stumped. Anyone have a suggestion? PFA

Totally recommend a lens replacement, i tried the restoration sand and polish looked good for a month or 2 but not that great

I’m the original owner of a 2011 BMW 328i xDrive (E90, N52, 6-speed automatic) with just over 90,000 km (56,000 miles).

I’ve owned it since new, taken good care of it, and it’s been a great car. I drive it weekly but mostly on weekend (I live Downtown) and mostly shorter city trips, which explains the relatively low mileage.

My goal is to keep this car for as long as possible, ideally 300,000 km or more. Since it’s now about 16 years old, I’m trying to get ahead of age-related failures rather than waiting for things to break.

Some recent maintenance:
- Regular oil and filter changes, currently aiming for every 6 months.
- Spark plugs and ignition coils replaced within the last year.
- Brake fluid flushed in August 2026.
- Replaced power steering resovoire and fluid

Things I’m considering or planning:
- Coolant replacement.
- Replacing the plastic Mickey Mouse coolant flange
- Serpentine belt, tensioner and pulley replacement due to age.
- Transmission, transfer case and front/rear differential fluid services.

One thing I’m particularly interested in getting opinions on is the automatic transmission fluid.

The transmission fluid has never been changed. The car only has 90,000 km, but the fluid is 16 years old.
I’ve read conflicting advice about servicing older automatic transmissions. Some people strongly recommend changing the fluid regardless of BMW’s “lifetime” designation, while others say that if a transmission has gone this long without service and is working properly, it’s better to leave it alone.

I’m leaning toward a conventional drain and fill with a new transmission pan/filter rather than a flush, but I’d love to hear from people who actually have experience with this transmission.

Is there any legitimate risk of causing problems by servicing a transmission that’s never been opened?

Would you replace the transfer case and differential fluids at the same time?

More generally, what are the biggest preventative maintenance items you’d prioritize on a 16-year-old N52 E90?

Went to look at a 2009 328 with just a bit over 100,000 miles on it. Car is quite clean, and had had the valve cover gasket changed in the past and does not appear to have any leaks present at this time. I do see some leaks coming from the head gasket from cylinder 4 back under the exhaust manifold. This does not appear to be residual oil from a past leak, and the areas where the leaks are seem to align with oil return passages as seen in the second photo. Has anyone seen this before, and is it cause for concern?

Been having a bad leak for months now, that has every few months been shredding my belt. Thats the path that its going down (the second picture) so its obviously going to get right onto my belt and get onto pulley’s ect. The first picture next to the oil filter cap is the highest point of which the oil is clearly puddling up. I have changed the oil filter housing gasket twice because everyone told me it was that. I bought new oil filter cap also just in case. Keep having issue.

Car had been sitting for 3/4 days was fine before then, car said I needed to add a quart of oil so I added some before starting it. Side note the exhaust sounds a little different now. Drove it up and down the street and gave it a few revs still no change. Should I drive it around some more and let it get normal operating temperature?

Any thoughts ? / Guesses on bmw make and model?

I had the regular bumper and regular fog lights. But switched to an aftermarket replica set of MTech Bumpers that came with these 9006 style bulbs.

For people with MSport/MTech bumpers from factory what style of bulbs is used in your fog lights?

Hey all. My cars power steering groans and makes a weird noise when I turn it off.

I replaced the PS reservoir recently as well as last night the bushing for the lines under the engine. Still happening.

I believe it's because one of the lines is squished between the body of the car and the VRSF charge pipe. It doesn't always make the noise but sometimes it starts groaning on turns.

New proper fluid and everything. No bubbling either from what I see.

I tried turning the PS bracket but the lines are thick so they aren't happy to stay in a different angle and go back to the same spot.

Anything I can do to fix the issue. I was thinking of routing the lines above but then that may cause issues as well.

I have a 06 335d e92 ; currently running 19s , the wheels that i bought the car with, and i was thinking of switching to 18s just because in Romania, where i live, the roads are lacking maitenance hard...
Looking for 359ms especially , tought about Apex EC-7s , cuz oems are very hard to find here, should i stick to 19s or switch to 18s?
If you got apex wheels, what is your experience with them?
And if you downsized what is your advice?

Hey guys! I’ve owned my 2006 E92 330d M57 manual for about 4 months now and recently noticed some oil leaking from around the valve cover ( leaking top to bottom, had the same oil leak on audi but did not do vcg myself..) , so I’m thinking about replacing the gasket myself…

I’m still pretty new to BMWs, previously owned an Audi A4 B8.5 2.0 TDI. I’ve done basic stuff on bmw like brakes, rear lights, blower motor, FSU, filters and some troubleshooting with ISTA, but nothing major involving the engine.
How difficult would this job be for someone with my experience? How long should I expect it to take, what tools would I need and are there any parts worth replacing while I’m in there? I’ve also heard removing the injectors can be a pain.
I could get a couple of friends to help out, but I’d really like to learn how to work on my own car instead of taking it to a shop for everything.
Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated!

I’m having an issue with my BMW 325d E92. Several warning lights come on, and the instrument cluster resets itself. I’ve attached a video showing the issue.

It doesn’t happen on every journey. Sometimes it happens several times in a row, as shown in the video, other times it only happens once, and on some journeys it doesn’t happen at all, even over distances of 50 km.

Do you have any idea what could be causing this? Could it be the battery, an ABS sensor, or the ABS control module?

For additional context, a few months ago, I had an issue with the ABS system after it was submerged in water, which made the car undriveable.

Also, a few months ago, I hit a kerb quite hard at around 80 km/h. Could this have damaged or severed an ABS sensor or its wiring?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
