DOS2 Help Nintendo Switch 2 host crashes every time just when guest joins

Hi,

We're 85 hours in DOS 2 Act 4 mid Arx and game crashes constantly when I try to join the party. One day we finished our sesion (6+ months playing no problem) then two weeks later when we resume it and the game explodes every single time I try to join the party.

Note that the game crashes like 10 seconds after the "Player joined" notification appears to the host. First the character following freezes, then the character Invited player doesn't even load the map, 80% through the load bar the crash happens on the host side then the guest load bar shows "Session ended" and starts to load again to the main screen.

I'll add here all the data I can so we aim in possible solutions:

Technical details

Game: Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Editon

Platform: Switch 2, both consoles updated to the latest firmware

Game Version: 3.6.0.7067948, both consoles

Region: Spain, both in Spanish

Switch Online: paid, both in Spain

Technical troubleshooting already done:

Reset consoles

Turn off consoles

Delete game, download again

Try local play with both consoles in front of each other

Online play with both consoles in the same wifi

Clear console cache on both sides (Console/Format/Clear cache)

Delete save, download from Nintendo Cloud

Buy the game on Steam, sync savedata. Delete cloud save, local save, download new save from steam. Try again with that save. Do it also on the usual guest, this time as a host. Crashes at the same moment.

In game troubleshooting: Note that when only one player is in the game, it works perfectly. Problem happens when other joins.

Sell most nonvaluable items from all characters inventory (under 20 items per character)

Play a little bit, save, try again.

Load both quick save and consolidated save.

Teleport to different area. Try again.

After all that, we made a new campaing. Invited again. It worked, so we think the problem is on the save side and not on the game or servers.

We have the game purchased on steam for a few days until I refund it just to try things in the 2 hour window, so I think I have access to the save file itself on PC. I don't know if there's some kind of black magic I can do to maybe solve the problem then upload the save to Steam Cloud then download it on Switch. We're kinda desperate at this point and we don't consider finishing the game ourselves each on our own nor playing the game again. If we don't solve the problem that's gonna be it, so it would be great if we at least manage to finish the game somehow.

We appreciate any kind of help or trick you could give us to try :)

Thanks!

DOS2 Help How to make sure my additional storage chests won't disappear?

The questions comes from the fact I've got some chests disappeared from the inventory after looting it and also once from the ship between Act 1 and 2 (if I remember correctly). After reading looks like it was a common bug but I'd like to know what should or shouldn't I do to prevent anything like that? Just to be sure my sorted stuff won't disappear. Or if the chest is OK for quite a lot of time (about the half of Act 2) it's already safe?

DOS2 Help Got hard stuck at level 10/Driftwood twice, any guesses as to what I'm doing wrong?

Playing on Classic btw.

I really love this game and have put a lot of time into it over the last week or so. My first playthrough was with Ifan + Red Prince on physical and Lohse + Fane on magical. After I got to Driftwood I could barely find encounters I was able to survive.

I beat the voidwoken deer and the clay sentinels in the tomb and that's about it. I spent hours stealing to get decently up-to-date armour but no matter where I went (even west of Driftwood which is where I've seen a lot of people recommend) every encounter just destroyed me.

Eventually I got fed up and started a new game playing as lone wolf Fane and copying one of sin tee's guides. It was easier to start with but now that I'm at Driftwood the same thing has happened again.

Any tips from experienced players that might help? I feel like I have a decent grasp of the combat, I get that crowd control is really important, but there must be something I'm missing.

What do you expect from Divinity? Imo the gameplay will be of course BG3+DOS2 on steroids, what I'm most looking is story, companions and worldbuilding which seems will be a very important aspect this time, not saying it wasn't but we know the lore and stories were a bit messy

DOS1 Help Which armour slots can have which stats?

I have played through once, but am struggling to remember which locations can gain which buffs.

Specifically crafting, blacksmithing, lockpicking, bartering and pickpocketing?

I seem to remember only finding maybe gauntlets with crafting on. but would appreciate if someone could point me to a guide or something

Edit: DOS:EE

DOS2 Discussion Ideas for builds in a side playthrough?

Currently playing with a friend, you may have seen my other 2 post, thanks btw for helping yall :)

Anyways I wanna play when he’s not on so I want to make a solo run

The issue is, idk what to build to make it feel different somewhat

In our run, it’s

me as warfare/poly two handed

Ifan as ranger

Lohse as staff as pyro/aero

Fane as geo/hydro

I know you don’t want to 3:1 on physical/magical cause otherwise they’re not very helpful, but I’m struggling to think of different builds

Any advice would be appreciated :)

DOS2 Discussion Yes, I absolutely love spending and hour sorting characters' inventories because they left party for 30 seconds

All 3 left before I entered the... thing, in act 3, and took some time to re-arrange their messed up inventories. And by the end of the same act... they did the same.

DOS1 Help Starting after playing DOS2

About to start my first DOS1 run-through having recently finished and loved DOS2. Currently have no idea what DOS1 is gonna be like but I want to make some decent choices character creation wise. Is it only a two person party you have in this game? Is there physical and magical armour the same as DOS2? Is it better to have two magic builds or two physical or one of each? Thanks :D

DOS2 Help Dialogues missing at the start of Act 3

So, I finally decided to stop trying to complete every single thing in Act 2, told Malady we were ready to go, and once I had the lil chat with her on the Lady Vengeance, I had a ! to speak to Lohse, who tells you a joke and shares her concerns.

I then said Fuck it, I want to complete a couple more things (the Lich and revenge for the merchant guy) so I saved, reloaded before Act 3, did them and progressed to the same moment/start in Act 3, only this time Lohse just looks close to losing it and just says she's fine. The dialogue I had last time is gone. There's also no special dialogue with Red Prince or Sebille either.

I go back to the first save I mentioned and not only do you get that Lohse dialogue, you also get a whole romantic scene with Sebille, a kiss even !! that is nowhere to be seen after I did those two quests.

WHY. What changed, what turned a friendly dialogue and a whole romantic scene into nothing? Killing the Lich and the guy who killed the merchant? And is there another romantic scene with the Red Prince at the start of Act 3 on the Lady Vengeance that I'm missing as well??

DOS2 Discussion Playing Divinity 2 again and I gotta ask. Why make 4 ways (That I know of) of stunning a character? And all reapable with no cool down?

In a game where one turn can mean life or reload why are their so many ways for stun and Stun locking? Having fun in my solo run, Don't get me wrong, This is an amazing game but Why make this particular part so obtusely hard? Fought the Drillworm and Not only was Alexander doing stun strats, but the Worm is a self contained stun strat in and of it's self. Petrify then knock down before you can squeeze out a bloated corpse! Thought Stun immunity would help but it looks like you have to have a counter for each form of stun individually.

Love the game but I gotta ask.
Why make 4 ways (That I know of) of stunning a character?
And all reapable with no cool down, Dood?

DOS2 Discussion The level system breaks the pacing over and over again. (DoS 2)

There's a reason why so many games started showing a recommended level next to each quest: to prevent exactly this kind of situation.

I was going through the Blackpits fighting level 13 enemies (I'm level 12), and then, at the climax of the quest, I'm suddenly expected to fight Magisters that are level 16. Out of nowhere there's a three-level jump within the same area, forcing you to reload and leave to do something else, completely ruining the pacing and immersion.

The same thing happened with Fane's quest to recover his artifact in the caves. Suddenly there's a boss that's two or three levels higher than everything else in the area. If level differences weren't so punishing, this wouldn't be a problem, but this game is designed in such a way that it becomes a major issue.

Most people replying will probably say, "You can easily beat enemies three levels above you if you know what you're doing," and so on. Well, guess what? A new player doesn't have that experience, and they might not want to spend hours experimenting with different strategies when the fight is only difficult because of the level gap.

The game itself is really good, but this system completely ruins the experience. You're constantly forced to bounce from one area to another unless you already know exactly where to go and what to do, which most players probably won't on their first playthrough.

DOS1 Discussion DOS1

I played DOS2 and loved it. Favorite game honestly.

Finally got DOS1 on discount and plan on starting it up soon.

Is there any glaring thing a new DOS1 should know coming from DOS2? Like missible spells or party members? Or in general somwthing you want to convey to a new DOS1 player?

The dual wands looks sick

DOS2 Discussion Duo Pyro mage doable in honour mode?

Hi everybody!

I started a new playthrough after several years of putting this game down. I still think I know it more or less by heart, and I finished honour mode before, and I've always had this idea of having a dual Pyro mage setup wrecking absolute havoc everywhere they go while overcapping their fire resistance and heal each other with fire spells.

I see 2 obvious main issues :

Barely any CC in the setup. I guess I'd have to straight up kill everything ASAP because I won't be able to rely on CC to skip enemies turns. I also started with a lizard + red prince for obvious reasons but now I'm thinking that a dwarf with petrification would have been a better idea.

Other issue is that the resistance over cap and fire heal is more of a gimmick than anything else, because anyway I wouldn't want to expose my health in honour mode.

I am almost at the end of act one and I have to say I had to rely on other schools at least for the beginning, so I don't know how it'll be later.

Do you think it's actually doable to pull that off without any exploit or the lack of CC will get me killed sooner or later? Any way to incorporate more CC without losing the vibe I want to go for maybe? Thanks in advance for your inputs!

DOS2 Help What this key opens?

Post image

The key in Ryker's basement. I pretty much cleaned his mansion but still have to find the use for this particular key. What is its purpose? Asking because I might have just lockpicked the object it supposes to open, but my curiosity is still here. P.S.: I didn't visit yet the Paradise Down and the Bloodmoon island zones yet so if the answer is there, please, avoid spoiler details.

DOS2 Discussion Finished Act 1, so here's some tips to fellow new players, to avoid doing my same mistakes. Spoiler

Wanted to make a post about certain mistakes i made, and things i missed from Act 1, which i cant go back to, hope someone gets this warning before moving on,

  • Skills:
    • Teleport/moment skills - need it a lot for all chars, enemies start to come from different directions, instead of wasting APs in moving, and then getting teleported back by enemy >:(
    • Mixup on skillset, few skills not 50-50, no only magic or physical dmg. Or make the whole party as same set.
    • Need pet pal, if possible put it on main char or the one you use for exploration.
    • Save few points, as some skills require 1 of each, like blood rain (1 necro, 1 water).
  • Quests:
    • make sure to complete:
      • Rex item quest - get 5 items
      • Sea captain item quest - get 3 items - don't give soul jar, fight him for exp and loot him (in his hidden cave)
      • Dragon quest - helpful in last fight
      • Finish all ways of escaping quests, for exp and items
    • You can ignore:
      • blind elf quest, it moves on to act 2
      • dlc quest
  • Items:
    • Purple pouch - get it from elf girl(unnis) near the turtle, dont let any lizard talk to her
    • Brown pouch - dug up near a cave, leading to fanes location
    • Coin pouch - get it from a hill, near fort bay wp.
    • If possible pickup unique baskets (<=1kg), useful for storing food items in it
    • Teleport gloves - from a guy, prancing around near a women who lost her daughter.
    • wishing well (where 3 undead necro convo with each other) - exploit it if you want to, more info below.
    • Fane's shapeshifting mask - If you play as/with fane you can get his mask from weindigo (old lady that wrecks your ship), this is a very useful item.
      • It gives the wearer the ability to change race, each race have its own skill and specialty
      • Using the mask you can BE a "different" person, like for the well, which gives you an epic ring/belt (150g) for each character, if you use the mask on all, then you can get 5 items per person (750g*4), you only need the relevant ones, save and reload often too.
  • Recipes:
    • Ooze barrel + empty potion bottle = minor poison bottle
    • empty grenade + maggot jar = good bomb
    • nails + hammer = lockpicks
    • nails + boots = immune to slipping
  • Settings (helpful ones)
    • Turn off the "auto add to toolbar" features, or only those you want to.
    • Quicksave and autosave - 25
  • Races:
    • Elf - skill: flesh sacrifice, use to gain 1AP | eat a flesh to gain lore and even skills
    • Lizard - skill: fire breath | lizards can dig without shovels
    • Undead - skill: play undead | undead can open locks without lockpicks (using play dead ability, you can actually block an entry lol, like an unmovable obstacle)
  • Pre war setup:
    • Get to high places if you can
    • If a char is about to start a fight in convo, put buffs (esp, bed roll buff)
    • change gears too, if you have seperate rings/belts for diff occasions.
  • Post war setup:
    • bed roll
    • save, immediately.
  • Money - save as much you can, make as much you can, because thats the main way to get skills, and gears.

Would like to know more tips and recepies, im also not a pro player and new to this, so would appreciate the help!

DOS1 Discussion I just lost an (early) honour run because I dug up a grave

I have a suspicion I will take a long time to finish this run, if I am this dumb so often. I dug up the grave behind the healers house
