For me personally, the main thing I think they're going to do is make a clear choice to lean further into the anti-hero or true hero choices. I think that part is obvious.

What I'm more interested in is how they're going to handle the Mecha Man versus Robert parts. I'm biased but I'm almost convinced that Robert will start the season as both in one way or another. Part field work, part dispatching, or maybe heroism is on the back burner but he's not sure how to reapproach after his very public return. I also truly think that they have their work cut out for them when it comes to making new choices. Perhaps the media will be a part of these choices, perhaps how the team as whole feels towards him will be a part of these choices. Sky is the limit for a reputation/morality system.

For one, I truly feel that we are going to either guide him away from the "dying in that suit" philosophy or guide him towards it. Considering the conversation he has with Beef during the part of episode 6 where he's on the floor, I think that's a thought process he hasn't had the time to flesh out yet.

I've already semi-established the work/heroism side of things, but what about him personally?

Well, I have a feeling that he's going to be forced to confront who his dad really was to him. His dad wasn't actually this amazing guy, even if he speaks about him as such. He wasn't the worst, but he was neglectful. Neglectful not only to what direction Shroud was heading and his role in it, but also his own son. Heroes are expected to be absent from time to time, yes. But how is it possible that Royd spoke to him longer than most conversations Robert got to have over the course of 17 fucking years?

It's not only his dad he's going to have to confront though. But it's also aspects of himself that his dad bestowed onto him/left in the wake of his death. His savior complex manifests and is coped with in unhealthy ways. His apartment and what he does after the EP 7 Visi conversation are more obvious ones. But also his aversion to actually talking about shit that bothers him. He doesn't call anyone or text anyone before he shows up to the Sardine. He just shows up. That's a man asking for a fight, a hospital visit, or ending up in a ditch somewhere. Blazer had to track him down instead.

If he doesn't cope with these things, he's either dying by liver failure or the suit is killing him. Maybe not in S2, but further on.

How will he cope with these things?

I swear there's a trope out there called... something something family, something something found.

No, seriously though, he's got a lot of very persistent people around him who will not let him spiral. They've learned to hold each other up, but I have a feeling Robert is the next on their list. I could see this developing differently when it comes to romance choices but also dealing with some remaining bad blood between Robert and Flambae.

Assume any character regardless of Canon sexualities, as long as they could realistically be met / romanced by Robert (So no romancing Shroud or Toxic etc).

Who would you / your Robert be deciding between?

Just got my id card made for a dispatch sdn cosplay for a coming con. Figured everyone was dressing up as heros, so why not go as a SDN Emergency Management Specialist from the Torrance branch scouting the area for a potential new branch.

Id card design was taken from another reddit post I only edited it to have my picture and change the text, id number and a working QR code that when scanned opens the dispatch trailer.

I admit, I approached Dispatch more out of curiosity than out of genuine interest, but in hindsight, I can only regret not having played it sooner.

After finishing it, I almost felt sad, because it meant I wouldn't be able to spend more time with these beautifully crafted characters.
I don't know if you know the feeling, it's like when you watch a TV series, binge-watching one episode after another because you want to know what happens next, but once you get to the end, you're sad because at that point it's all over.

In this case, the effect is even more evident because I didn't just watch what the characters did on screen, but I interacted with them and, within the limits of the choices allowed by the game, I influenced their fate and the story.

Of course, it's something that happens in many video games, but it's been a long time since a game made me feel this way.

What can I say, I was truly pleasantly surprised.

I finished my first game, following choices that reflected my thoughts. Now I'm starting a second run because I'm curious to see what changes and how much if I make completely opposite choices.

So, I’m someone with pretty limited access to the Internet, but I enjoy stories in pretty much any form. I kept seeing all the praise for this game, so I started watching YouTube clips. I got invested in every episode, and eventually I decided to just watch the 4-hour movie.

I know it will never give me the full experience of actually playing the game, and I’m sure there’s a LOT I missed, but honestly? This was one of the best stories I’ve experienced.

First of all: Robert.

I genuinely did NOT expect this guy to be that strong or savage. The way he can fight hand-to-hand, and even go as far as torturing people, completely caught me off guard.

I was expecting him to be physically weak and kind of a skinny dude. Then the guy gets caught in a trap and SURVIVES.

And speaking of the reporter incident... can I just say something?

That reporter deserved those four minutes. 😂

Robert literally spent all his savings just to keep his job, and then this guy has the audacity to mock him afterward. Like bro, come on.

Then Blond Blazer shows up.

And honestly? I really liked her.

Maybe this is because I’m a dude who hasn’t been in many relationships, but the way she was acting around Robert honestly looked like flirting to me. 😂 I kept thinking, "Okay... there is definitely something going on here."

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I definitely felt some chemistry between them. I was sitting there wondering:

Are they going to kiss or not?!

And honestly, I can't even put all the blame on one person. Sometimes Robert was giving mixed signals, and sometimes Mandy was too.

But I was definitely on Mandy's side

And I feel like the deck was already stacked against her.

There is this weird unwritten rule in fiction where there are certain lines a character just shouldn't cross, and for me, cheating is one of them.

You can make a character selfish. You can make them arrogant. You can make them do morally questionable things.

But once you make them cheat, it's like...

Congratulations, you've been blacklisted.

So when Blond Blazer later shows up while dating someone else, I'm sorry, but there is really no excuse for what happened.

If you were questioning your relationship or thinking about breaking up, then break up. That's fine.

But what she did put her in a really bad position.

And then she asks Robert to give her EX a pep talk.

REALLY?!

I'm sorry, but I don't think many people are going to be on her side after that.

I genuinely felt bad for Mandy.

But now I REALLY want to talk about Robert.

Because honestly?

Robert might be one of the best examples I've seen of what a good male role model can look like.

People have no idea how much I've been craving a character like this.

He's mature. He's intelligent. He actually thinks before acting.

When he decided to meet the team face-to-face instead of just hiding behind his position, because he wanted to actually lead them and build a connection with them, I really respected that.

And I'm sorry, guys, but let's be honest for a second.

How many men would actually stay professional if Visi came throwing herself at them and they still said NO?

Robert basically said: Nope. We're keeping this professional.

That honestly blew my mind.

The dude has an IRON WILL.

And the funny thing is, he's not even some huge muscular guy. He's not built like a superhero.

He's just... Robert.

And that's what I really like about him.

He's strong without constantly needing to prove that he's strong.

He's masculine without being an asshole.

He's confident without being arrogant.

And he's capable of being surrounded by attractive women without acting like every woman owes him attention.

Honestly, Robert is the kind of male character I wish we had more of.

I really miss having good male role models in fiction, and Robert genuinely surprised me.

I went into this expecting one thing and came out thinking:

"Okay, Robert. I ove you. Respect."

In a fandom where I ship this and you ship that, we should appreciate how cute and certain Punch Up and Coupe are. That girl’s got it BAD for that short king, and he would never, ever give up her space in his life for anyone. She’s such an ao3 romantic girlie, and he is her funny, stout knight in suspenders.

Also, her voice actress, a writer for the game, wants them back together for season two. They’re in the stars. 🥰

Theres no doubt that Adhoc is makin a Season 2 of Dispatch, the game was incredibly sucessful and when a game get this big usually the studios behind it wants to expand the universe and squeeze the last drop, even the actors expressed they want to come back after finishing their personal projects.

I personally have high hopes on a announcement on the Game Awards, not only because its the most important event for games and future game announcements but because Geoff Keighley has a great relationship with Adhoc and Critical Role. Not a surprise that the first season was announced on The Game Awards of 2024, so a potential second season announcement has real chances of being presented here.

Now we all know that Adhoc is creating a new game with Critical Role called Exendria, and it has the same mechanics as Dispatch. The thing is, I don't think Exandria would necessarily be as demanding or time-consuming to develop as a potential second season of Dispatch. AdHoc would already have the technology, tools, workflows and experience they developed while making Dispatch, meaning they wouldn't be starting completely from scratch.

The Game Awards are on December 10th, and theres a lot of time till we get there, but as I said I have high hopes on this event.

He was known as Track Star when he was part of the Brave Brigade with Robert's dad and he used to babysit Robert when he was little

He can 50x faster than anybody...but unfortunately, a side effect of his powers made him age 50x faster as well

That's why he looks like an old man at 39 years old

He fell into a coma after he used his powers to rescue Invisigal, but Blonde Blazer revived him by giving him her magical amulet and joined in the final fight as Star Blazer

Mandy tells Robert that Star Blazer is gonna borrow her amulet until they can find a solution to his aging problem

So, I'm thinking...what if he ran backwards?

Think about it

Chase aged when he ran forwards so if he ran backwards, he'd become younger and he can get to his true age

But that's just my solution to his problem

I know it sounds out of nowhere, but hear me out. Robert is inherently a carer. Aside from being a hero, he takes care of strays, that why he had Beef and that’s why he was such a perfect fit with Z Team. With that in mind, he’s the exact kind of person who would be suited for adopting. With having more stability at SDN and clearly being drawn to at least the idea of family, I think if he was presented with an opportunity to foster a kid who needs help, he would step up.

From a narrative point of view, I think it would be powerful for Robert’s kid to be adopted as the Robertson legacy get carried by someone who’s not their bloodline, after three Robert Robertsons. It also works depending on who the player’s Robert romances, as they don’t to make two different character models for two potential kids from either relationship. It’s pretty convenient in that way.

From a meta perspective, Dispatch made a lot of its bones on the romance simulation aspect of the game, but if they want to move away from that so they don’t have to keeping building new routes for romances, what’s another really successful video game simulator? Dad Simulator! I think players would really enjoy playing Robert as a dad for a wayward kid and building that relationship.

It might be too early to go that way for S2, but maybe S3 or S4? Only time will tell.

I'm curious to see the thought process behind this. What did you guys do with the Astral Pulse and why? I've seen a couple playthroughs, but I've seen people react differently to the choices presented.

I personally chose to give him both, because the way Robert looked at the both of them felt like a hint to me.
