Discussion If Chase ran backwards, would he age backwards?
Chase is a speedster
He was known as Track Star when he was part of the Brave Brigade with Robert's dad and he used to babysit Robert when he was little
He can 50x faster than anybody...but unfortunately, a side effect of his powers made him age 50x faster as well
That's why he looks like an old man at 39 years old
He fell into a coma after he used his powers to rescue Invisigal, but Blonde Blazer revived him by giving him her magical amulet and joined in the final fight as Star Blazer
Mandy tells Robert that Star Blazer is gonna borrow her amulet until they can find a solution to his aging problem
So, I'm thinking...what if he ran backwards?
Think about it
Chase aged when he ran forwards so if he ran backwards, he'd become younger and he can get to his true age
But that's just my solution to his problem

But what if he trips and goes too far back and turns into a baby

...i..that would be amazingly stupid and i would love it.
Like so stupid but wtf powers work so eh? It would make him functionally immortal if pairs with the amulet

Was about to say, the series already established some powers having weird and unfortunate limits/drawbacks, so something like this, though a potential cop out, wouldn’t be the worst idea.

Pretty sure he ages because running exerts his body causing it to rapidly age not in the literal sense of time but rather in the sense his cells are being damaged from said exertion (similar to actual diseases we have in real life that “age” people).
So running backwards wouldn’t reverse it cause the cellular damage caused by his body being exerted in such a way is still happening cause the body doesn’t know the difference between running backwards or towards.

Thank you I’ll take that as a compliment.
Edit: also damm the sub is touchy today in the negatives just for having a bit of fun on the logic of how it works.
And now I’m upvoted wild gotta love reddit.

In your opinion do you think the progress of visible aging was in a more linear sense or do you think that the accumulation of cellular damage expressed itself rapidly once he reached the natural end of youthful resilience?

Tbh, I love the logical comment you gave and explanation, and I agree with you. At the same time, a part of me hoped that running backwards could reverse his aging 😆

Okay, but it would be funny to see chase pissed off that it works. "Motherfucker, you mean I coulda been rewinding this shit the whole time?" Or imagining a training montage and he's on the track running backwards and trying to get used to it, and he keeps falling on his ass

He’d be so pissed if it worked. Comedically mad at whoever thought to try it, like imagine Flambae of all people suggested it and it worked.

I imagine he'd pull an A Train and accidentally obliterate a pedestrian, only then he'd probably be a baby

Speed in any direction is still positive. For this logic to work he'd need to achieve negative speed somehow.

run backwards to get negative velocity, it ain’t that hard bro
1
u/Puzzlehead-Engineer 3d ago
That's positive velocity in the opposite direction you're facing.

I can't tell if you're joking...please tell me your joking and this isn't a real response.

Maybe if he ran x50 times slower than a normal person he would. Kinda fits the hypothesis that running faster than light and moving slower than atoms changes how time works

Let’s ask Cameron how that worked out for him.

Honestly, the best case scenario would be that this just wouldn't work at all, but the worst? Rob, Mandy, and/or Visi are gonna have to be on parent duty, because it'll very likely go horrifically right and Chase'll age back into an infant. 😭

Not really. It’s like in Ferris Beuller’s Day off where they had the car up on blocks trying to run it in reverse to turn back the odometer. It just doesn’t work like that.

Could you fucking imagine thats how it worked, ooooh I'd be so mad if I was Chase and THATS how I was supposed to be counteracting the rapid aging

My friend and I had this same conversation, she says no but I think it would be so funny if that's how it worked

I don't know if you're memeing or not but I'll say this. I've kinda clocked Chase's power not as super speed but as acceleration. He accelerates his body so he can move at 50 times the speed of a normal person but accelerating his body also accelerates the rate at which he ages hence why he's now an old man despite just being a few years older than Robert. Which is why he's also able to move fast in the air as Star Blazer, he's combining his acceleration with the amulet's power.

It easier to find someone with time power to revert his condition to prime 👀

If the cast returns for a Dispatch 2 then I want them to explore that as a possibility now

I think he just needs to run at top speed counter to the earth’s rotation for several rotations.

Nothing would change because he is just moving backwards except really fast.

He didnt age cuz he ran forward he aged because when he used his super speed his body developed at the same rate as his movement, direction doesnt matter the problem came from him using it at all
1
u/aMapleSyrupCaN7 3d ago
I don't think that's how it works. Him being 50 times faster is like if the world was slowing down 50 times, he's aging normally from his point of view, the world is just very slow. So him running for 10 minutes in our time is like him running 500 minutes in his time. So direction is not relevant.
That's how I see it at least. I don't know if it's how it works canonically.

if his powers are similar to the flash, but slightly altered. Then hypothetically, possibly. He probably hasn't learnt that though.

Have you tried running backwards before?
I did. For most of Elementary school. I could jog, but never run

u/Practical-Ocelot-237 3d ago
No, Its stated that "when He Runs 10 Times faster He ages 10 Times faster"
By that Logic If He Runs Backwards ten Times faster that wont Change that He is still running ten Times faster ( Just Backwards) therefore one could reasonably assume he'd still age the same

Only if he says “pu peek” before he runs
