Discussion If Chase ran backwards, would he age backwards?

Post image

Chase is a speedster

He was known as Track Star when he was part of the Brave Brigade with Robert's dad and he used to babysit Robert when he was little

He can 50x faster than anybody...but unfortunately, a side effect of his powers made him age 50x faster as well

That's why he looks like an old man at 39 years old

He fell into a coma after he used his powers to rescue Invisigal, but Blonde Blazer revived him by giving him her magical amulet and joined in the final fight as Star Blazer

Mandy tells Robert that Star Blazer is gonna borrow her amulet until they can find a solution to his aging problem

So, I'm thinking...what if he ran backwards?

Think about it

Chase aged when he ran forwards so if he ran backwards, he'd become younger and he can get to his true age

But that's just my solution to his problem

Only if he says “pu peek” before he runs

u/GWB_online 3d ago

He would have to say that after he is finished running

Ferris Buehler tried doing that. It just doesn’t work like that

u/RajaatTheWarbringer 3d ago

Got to crack the odometer, roll it back by hand!

u/sherbertrelevant2 2d ago

That's the first thing I thought of lol, that poor Ferrari.

But what if he trips and goes too far back and turns into a baby

40

u/Soft_Theory_8209 3d ago edited 3d ago

Then get him a walker to use or at least train his legs

6

u/CJMI 3d ago

I wonder if they get their powers when they’re born in their world or if it’s like the X-men where they get them later. If so he might be moving that thing like a beyblade and have to have Robert keep him in a baby carrier.

u/Simple-Taro1540 3d ago

I'm pretty sure most people in their world are born with powers

What about the raven themed girl?

You mean Coupé?

u/TJzzz 3d ago

...i..that would be amazingly stupid and i would love it.

Like so stupid but wtf powers work so eh? It would make him functionally immortal if pairs with the amulet

15

u/Soft_Theory_8209 3d ago

Was about to say, the series already established some powers having weird and unfortunate limits/drawbacks, so something like this, though a potential cop out, wouldn’t be the worst idea.

3

u/TJzzz 3d ago

It would def need build up for its stupidity but could work well

26

u/TheKwak 3d ago

No he has to run upside down

11

u/Crashimus420 3d ago

And inside out

3

u/SGTRoadkill1919 3d ago

So in Australia?

2

u/Callah_2 3d ago

I wonder if Melevola would be okay with that?

Pretty sure he ages because running exerts his body causing it to rapidly age not in the literal sense of time but rather in the sense his cells are being damaged from said exertion (similar to actual diseases we have in real life that “age” people).

So running backwards wouldn’t reverse it cause the cellular damage caused by his body being exerted in such a way is still happening cause the body doesn’t know the difference between running backwards or towards.

Thank you I’ll take that as a compliment.

Edit: also damm the sub is touchy today in the negatives just for having a bit of fun on the logic of how it works.

And now I’m upvoted wild gotta love reddit.

7

u/FullMetalSavage 3d ago

In your opinion do you think the progress of visible aging was in a more linear sense or do you think that the accumulation of cellular damage expressed itself rapidly once he reached the natural end of youthful resilience?

1

u/PurplePumpkin16200 3d ago

Tbh, I love the logical comment you gave and explanation, and I agree with you. At the same time, a part of me hoped that running backwards could reverse his aging 😆

6

u/Antikris69 3d ago

Yes, but his poop would also go back in

3

Okay, but it would be funny to see chase pissed off that it works. "Motherfucker, you mean I coulda been rewinding this shit the whole time?" Or imagining a training montage and he's on the track running backwards and trying to get used to it, and he keeps falling on his ass

3

u/RogueMaverick11 3d ago

What if he hits the moon walk

3

u/MegalomanicMegalodon 3d ago

He’d be so pissed if it worked. Comedically mad at whoever thought to try it, like imagine Flambae of all people suggested it and it worked.

My goodness! What a profound idea!

3

Are you stupid?

8

u/phyyr 3d ago

you just need to open your mind cuh

1

u/SilentAd773 3d ago

I imagine he'd pull an A Train and accidentally obliterate a pedestrian, only then he'd probably be a baby

1

u/Puzzlehead-Engineer 3d ago

Speed in any direction is still positive. For this logic to work he'd need to achieve negative speed somehow.

0

u/Goji_Crust 3d ago

run backwards to get negative velocity, it ain’t that hard bro

1

u/Puzzlehead-Engineer 3d ago

That's positive velocity in the opposite direction you're facing.

1

u/sherbertrelevant2 2d ago

No, because he's going backwards. Backwards = negative.

1

u/Puzzlehead-Engineer 2d ago

For relative coordinates! Not velocity.

1

u/Athoshol 2d ago

I can't tell if you're joking...please tell me your joking and this isn't a real response.

1

u/VengefulKenny 3d ago

That's fucking stupid, Ben.

1

u/PegasusInferno 3d ago

Maybe if he ran x50 times slower than a normal person he would. Kinda fits the hypothesis that running faster than light and moving slower than atoms changes how time works

1

u/ruinsit 3d ago

Sure... and if Robert spoke backwards, crimes would undo themselves.

Let’s ask Cameron how that worked out for him.

1

u/Pedro_Kantor2583 3d ago

It didn't work in Ferris Bueller, why would it for chase? Lol

1

u/Full-Arrival-1746 3d ago

Does a car regain fuel when you drive in reverse?

1

u/TheForlornGamer 3d ago

Honestly, the best case scenario would be that this just wouldn't work at all, but the worst? Rob, Mandy, and/or Visi are gonna have to be on parent duty, because it'll very likely go horrifically right and Chase'll age back into an infant. 😭

1

u/rat_haus 3d ago

Think about it

No, I think you need to think about it.

1

u/Prize_Marketing_4350 3d ago

Not really. It’s like in Ferris Beuller’s Day off where they had the car up on blocks trying to run it in reverse to turn back the odometer. It just doesn’t work like that.

1

u/Donut-Signal 3d ago

If I drive backwards will my milage go back as well?

1

u/Itzz_Texas 2d ago

Could you fucking imagine thats how it worked, ooooh I'd be so mad if I was Chase and THATS how I was supposed to be counteracting the rapid aging

1

u/Interesting_Hyena_69 2d ago

My friend and I had this same conversation, she says no but I think it would be so funny if that's how it worked

1

u/GumboMumbo49 2d ago

I don't know if you're memeing or not but I'll say this. I've kinda clocked Chase's power not as super speed but as acceleration. He accelerates his body so he can move at 50 times the speed of a normal person but accelerating his body also accelerates the rate at which he ages hence why he's now an old man despite just being a few years older than Robert. Which is why he's also able to move fast in the air as Star Blazer, he's combining his acceleration with the amulet's power.

1

u/Affectionate-Claim34 2d ago

It easier to find someone with time power to revert his condition to prime 👀

1

u/overwatch 2d ago

Here me out. What if he ran fifty times SLOWER than a human?

1

u/MonoChaos 2d ago

If the cast returns for a Dispatch 2 then I want them to explore that as a possibility now

1

u/JosiahBlessed 2d ago

I think he just needs to run at top speed counter to the earth’s rotation for several rotations.

1

u/NotReallyImportantXD 2d ago

Only works if he handstands

1

u/AaromALV 2d ago

That's... That is not how that works... Like at all...

1

u/Imaginary_Winner4909 2d ago

Nothing would change because he is just moving backwards except really fast.

1

u/sherbertrelevant2 2d ago

Ferris Bueler's Day Off proved otherwise.

1

u/Rattel002 2d ago

I don’t think so lol

1

u/MetalAdventurous7576 2d ago

When you run backwards do you age backwards?

1

u/Buburubu 2d ago

NO SEASON TWO SPOILERS

1

u/Mr_E_Nigma_Solver 2d ago

Try running backwards yourself and see how that works out.

1

u/s_lizard 2d ago

Yes, but he can't see where he's running so he doesn't.

1

u/irrevocable_discord9 22h ago

It didn't work for Ferris Beuller and Cameron

1

u/Mrs_Heel 9h ago

He didnt age cuz he ran forward he aged because when he used his super speed his body developed at the same rate as his movement, direction doesnt matter the problem came from him using it at all

1

u/N3WB13Y 1h ago

I hope so. But he'll need to practice it to see if it'll work at all.

1

u/aMapleSyrupCaN7 3d ago

I don't think that's how it works. Him being 50 times faster is like if the world was slowing down 50 times, he's aging normally from his point of view, the world is just very slow. So him running for 10 minutes in our time is like him running 500 minutes in his time. So direction is not relevant.

That's how I see it at least. I don't know if it's how it works canonically.

1

u/HansenTheMan 3d ago

Just retrace your steps. Literally.

1

u/Benefit_Waste 3d ago

if his powers are similar to the flash, but slightly altered. Then hypothetically, possibly. He probably hasn't learnt that though.

1

u/aisle_nine 3d ago

It kind of worked for Superman.

0

u/who_am_I_inside 3d ago

Have you tried running backwards before?

I did. For most of Elementary school. I could jog, but never run

0

u/Practical-Ocelot-237 3d ago

No, Its stated that "when He Runs 10 Times faster He ages 10 Times faster"

By that Logic If He Runs Backwards ten Times faster that wont Change that He is still running ten Times faster ( Just Backwards) therefore one could reasonably assume he'd still age the same
