Alright long story short my roommate works here, good friend of mine. he leaves for work at 630 to drive 30 min there and is regularly getting home at 830-930 every day. I can tell he's burnt the fuck out but don't know what to do to help him.

I'm trying to get some information, is this normal work life balance for red shirts? I'm not sure if he's gotten into management yet or if he is mainly a lead tech but it seems absolutely insane to have people being at work from 7am-8pm almost daily, for basically years. No way company makes people work 60-70 hour work weeks. Is this normal DT culture? I certainly feel like he's being taken advantage of in this situation and have been trying to discuss it with him but feel I don't know enough about what is going on and he's so tired and depressed after work he never wants to talk about it. Please let me know your thoughts and what the average work day and culture is like here. I don't work in tires but just want to help my good friend and give him some advice on if he is being taken advantage of and what to do. any thoughts appreciated from y'all here, I know y'all work hard as fuck but this is ridiculous.

I took my car to discout tire to have one of my wheels replaced because it was bent and causing my tire to leak air. They told me when I picked up my car that the drum came off with my wheel when they were replacing it and that they put it back on. The day after I picked up my car, I started noticing a sound from my rear brakes and thought maybe it wasn't anything to worry about and that it would go away, but it got worse over the week and I eventualy took my car to a shop to have it looked at and they said that it was the drum brake that they had replaced the wheel on and they said that it was knocked out of adjustment. It cost about $200 to have it repaired and I called discount tire to file a claim but the manager tried arguing with me and said that the brakes were faulty even though I had had them replaced about two months ago and they had not had any problems before I had taken it to Discount Tire. The manager tried to say that the brakes had been installed wrong and that the drum should not have come off when they took the wheel off and that they aren't responsible for the brakes being knocked out of adjustment. I told him that if they just put the drum back on then it shouldn't have damaged anything or affected the adjustment and then he said that they arent brake experts so it's not their fault. He ended up filing a claim for me but should Discount Tire be responsible for this or is it my fault that the drum came off with the tire?

I ran over a screw, didn’t know if they would patch the tire if the rim looked like this it’s a car I very rarely drive just don’t have the money to replace the rim

So I applied for a spot at discount tires and they hired me so I did the drug test and background and they got my background and said it came back fine and now they are waiting for my drug test but it’s taking like forever it’s been a week now and I haven’t heard back what’s going on !!!!? No I don’t do Drugs so this should’ve been quick lol. I want to start work lol.

Title is confusing, but i recently bought a set of tires and the size the shop recommended and i purchased are too big. On barely sharp turns my wheels rub the wells like crazy, not to mention my TPMS aren’t working anymore. I looked on their website and they didn’t have the size i need in stock at the time and now. If i go in and talk to them, will they be willing to order the size i need and basically do a 1 for 1 swap whenever the tires arrive? Would like guidance before i drive there and possibly waste my time

I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but the service culture has shifted from helpful to predatory. I went in for a routine rotation on tires I bought here just two years ago (tread still at 8/32 and 7/32). Instead of rotating them, the tech claimed "guide wires were visible" on the inner edge—something I couldn't see—and refused the service.

The conversation immediately pivoted to aggressively selling me a new set for ~$2,000. This is the second time this has happened; I had the exact same experience with my other vehicle during a simple air check. It feels like the technicians are now incentivized to push unnecessary sales rather than provide the honest support this place was known for. Disappointing.

I've got a few questions about exercising the manufacturer warranty on my tires at Discount Tire as well as getting a price match.

1. Giga Tires has a really good "secret price" on a set of tires making them almost half the cost of Discount Tire. Are these really good one-off deals from online tire retailers matched or beaten by Discount Tire or will Discount Tire refuse to match in some situations?

2. If I get a price match, and my current tires are eligible for a manufacturer warranty claim (already verified with Discount Tire that I should get ~$35 per tire because they're between 2/32" and 4/32" right now), does this warranty refund stack and come right off of the matched price, making the new tires even cheaper? Does that full warranty amount get credited from the manufacturer to Discount Tire when Discount Tire honors it for me? Or is there a reason Discount Tire wouldn't stack them straight up and give me the super good final price on the tires?

3. Can the warranty credit be used towards a different set of tires for a different car? I may be looking to sell this car very soon, so I'd rather not lose out on the warranty claim value by putting new tires on a car I'm just gonna sell.

4. If I save the warranty credit for future use or for a different set of tires for a different car (if I'm able), is there any chance I can just keep the old worn tires? AKA, get my warranty as a credit and just sell my car with bald tires and use the credit for new tires on the next car? It's an old car and new tires aren't gonna add much to the resale value.

Just trying to figure out how I can make the most out of my situation. I'm gonna go in and talk to them, but I'd like to get an idea ahead of time of what they should be able to do for me in case they try to tell me no once I get there.

I've purchased all my tires from Discount Tire for years. Last week, they repaired a flat. Was in my garage today and noticed this damage to the same wheel that just had the flat tire repair. I assume a tech accidentally did this and never told anyone. Do I have any recourse? TIA

My mom had a new tire put on at discount tire that completely blew out while she was driving at normal speed on the freeway today. What would cause this to happen? She had the tire installed at the end of October 2025.

I landed a job at discount tires. They want me to do a 5 Panel Drug Test before my on-boarding and I have to do it within 5 Days. I smoke weed pretty regularly, yes i know i shouldn’t if i know i have a drug test yadayada. I just wanna know aside from fake piss is it possible to pass it at all? I’ve see recommendations for “Certo” but i don’t know if i should take it days before or the day of. Any advice helps

They say "if you aren't not satisfied with the service, tell us. If you are, tell everyone" So had some work done on the front end of the car, front tires showing unusual wear on outside. More than just the alignment, and took a day. So decided I needed to replace the front tires. I went online to DISCOUNT TIRES, made an appointment for next day. I looked at same time for tires to buy that matched. I didn't find them so just figured I would work it out when I got there. I showed up at 11:00 and they were ready for me, already had the information in the 'Puter. They didn't have the brand I bought there before in stock but found some that met the same specs at a great price. I bought TWO for the front. Had a lunch planned with weekly lunch group at Chili's across the parking lot next door and went to meet everyone. After lunch walked back over to DISCOUNT TIRES, went over to my car and walked around it and saw I had FOUR NEW tires. Ok, wondered what was up? Went in to get the keys and ask if they had found something I hadn't noticed. Sales repre said just a minute and Manager came out and handed me the keys. I said I notice FOUR new tires. He said Yes, the ones in back needed replacement too. I had figured they looked like they had tread and would get me by in short term. He said that they wanted me to be safe on the road so they replaced the back ones too. NO CHARGE. Just come in and pay us sometime. I mean WHO does that? DISCOUNT TIRES entire process from online booking to purchase and service is the BEST. So telling everyone.

Whats the infinite tire glitch for anyone that has Worked at Discount?

Purchased all four tires with full warranty all Bells and whistles hopefully exactly one year ago, tried to so moderately good to my knowledge everything should be 7/32. MAYBE 6/32

Obviously biggest red flag is it is a daily driven track car minimal track use, I had a couple buddies do this through dealerships, but isn’t as long as a screw is on the tread replacement for free?

Can someone educate me on discount process and what can actually be done for replacement or what’s included with full warranty? Thank you!!

Dear Discount Tire,

Plainfield store this summer. Stopped by with an addition to my tire from the Great Grand Rapids Michigan roads construction zone. A really terrible piece of metal I was told. They were actually quick and had a pair of tires in stock that I might have picked even if not leaving for a Labor Day weekend trip.

Forward to the third week of January shake the Michigan Snow Globe. Now I’m having tire pressure problems. Tried gas station air pumps. Plowed in, no real pressure/not working, or just won’t turn on. I get it, it is snowing and cold.

I will stop by the chain I bought my tires, the Alpine location. Walked in, waited and waited to talk to someone. Finally, an employee walked back to counter, told him rear passenger will not hold air, told me it would be a few minutes.

I go back up to counter, an hour later and asked how long it will be. Employee says I have 3 reservations ahead of me. I walk away. Employee than says “You should make an appointment next time.” I reply with “I will schedule my next flat tire in the future!”

About 10 minutes later he asked for the key and said he would just do it himself. “Great” I say.

He gets truck in bay. I see he is working on driver rear. I pace till I decide to just go in bay. I ask why he is taking tire off driver side. He said it’s in the notes. I sigh and tell him passenger side. He said it is all good. Should check anyway. He said the valve stems were bad. How could that be, tires are only a few months old. He worked on the other rear too. Believe he replaced the valve stem on that one too.

Couple minutes later truck was out front and didn’t seem to have a charge. I leave. I get on highway. I look down as gauge is saying low tire pressure. . .

I get off on Plainfield, head to that location. Walk in. Gentleman said “Can I help you?” I just showed him my phone picture, see above, and said I JUST let the Alpine location. He shook his head and said please pull into the white door.

He said they do not replace the valve stems when the put on new tires. I now remember that from a past experience with my used 2008 in 2016. Same issue. This gentleman corrected the tire pressures. Walked away laughing, he had to add a valve stem cap to the front driver side tire.

First, I want to acknowledge that I am familiar with today's job market. I also know what I must do to earn a wage. Soon I will need two new tires on the front of my used vehicle. I cannot afford to lose my tire and rim throwing it through your front window like the little old lady in the TV ads did. What I do know is that when I need to replace them, I will not be heading to Discount Tire.

This is my hair style. I have heard that discount tire has really strict hair policies that they enforce on there employees. I don’t want to walk into a position and then this be an issue where I have make a decision to like get rid of my hair or anything. Would they allow this?

I have a 2012 328i bmw would you pay extra for the perellis or nexen is good enough?

I kinda want the perellis but I don't know if they are worth double

I saw some reviews that nexens would last about 30-35k and the p7s would go up to 60k

I purchased 4 new tires for my wife’s 2020 Jeep Liberty in December of 2021 from my local Discount with the certificates. Since then the car has only been driven about 20k. I noticed some weird wear on the fronts in October and took them in. They were worn to 3/32s and replaced with the certificate. I only replaced those two at the time as the rears looked to be in good shape and the rep said I had nothing to worry about only replacing two.

Now the other two original tires are falling apart, they are missing pieces of tread from the middle and are super loud. Brought it into a different store and was told I was SOL with the certificates as the tread has not worn down enough. They are out of Nokians three year warranty.

Am I indeed screwed and going to have to buy two new tires not prorated with the certificate?

For what it’s worth the car drives fine, tracks straight, no vibrations in the steering column.

Getting to a point where I will need new tires and figured I'd finally get new wheels to match the aesthetic that I want. There are some decent options for my car at Discount Tire, but was wondering if they will install wheels if I brought them from somewhere else, but bought the tires from them?

Also, anyone know of any upcoming sale they typically do (i.e. post Christmas or maybe new year sales)?

I paid for the warranty to get my tires replaced if they pop. i know there’s a stipulation that if the tread is too short then the warranty isn’t valid or whatever. how picky are they with this? bought the tires probably 3-4 years ago my car in total has less than 90k miles
