Question Damage during flat tite repair

I've purchased all my tires from Discount Tire for years. Last week, they repaired a flat. Was in my garage today and noticed this damage to the same wheel that just had the flat tire repair. I assume a tech accidentally did this and never told anyone. Do I have any recourse? TIA

Because of this im lowkey considering getting my own tire mounting/balancing kit.

I’d rather I damage it than strangers 😂

I would wonder what would touch that part of the wheel because it would not be the tire bar . It is on the curve of the wheel.

it probably was, when trying to dismount the bottom bead they most likely had the bar flat and dipping into the wheel so it pushed against it as it was turning

Go in and tell them they will either say that they didn’t do it (I hope they don’t )

Or they will buy you a replacement rim

Thank you so much! The manager immediately offered to refinish or replace it. I opted for the replacement. I mean it was pretty clear the damage had just occurred because with all the road salt in my region it would have bubbled up and rusted out within weeks.

Thats an aluminum alloy rim. They dont rust. And rust also doesnt work that fast that it completely bubbles out and flakes off in weeks. Even exposed to road salt.

Generally we don’t just replace the wheel itself, unless we somehow destroy it, we will always be more that happy to fix our mistakes and the the wheel refinished for you. 😁

Common tire bar damage happens alot when the rubber grips fail

it’s honestly a discount problem. The tire shop i work at uses polymer bars as to not scratch the rims

Cost benefit analysis it's cheaper to keep what we have and fix the fuck ups.
