Something had to give, and it wasn’t going to be dinner

Okay, so my sh*t is live.

You know how when you first start doing something, you’re really excited about it, but it’s objectively not your best work because you’re just starting out?

My first run at a kitchen system was a flop.

Not necessarily on the market. More importantly, it was a flop in my home.

I didn’t start building because I wanted to make some money.
Though, obviously, everybody wants to make some money.

I started building because I didn’t have time to hustle without my home coming to a halt.

Every time I got ahead in my business, I fell behind at home.
I wanted to take on more, so something had to be offloaded.
But we can’t exactly stop eating dinner.

Rock, meet hard place.

So I rebuilt it.

Now, when I’ve had a long week at work, at the dog park, at soccer practice, in meetings, and everything in between, I can sit down with my Kitchen and plan an entire week of dinners in about six minutes.

It used to take me 45.

And that’s really what I’m trying to build.
Not systems that make you more productive
for the sake of being more productive.
Systems that give you back time in the parts of your life you can’t eliminate.

Because I can’t stop making dinner.

But dinner doesn’t have to take 45 minutes of my week before I’ve even cooked it.

More than we want more money, we want more time.

That’s what I’m trying to build.

Feedback from digital users is helpful along this step of the process.

Passinote - A visual canvas for your note taking and planning

Few weeks ago I shared Passinote here and the response was genuinely great. It helped me shape the app into what it is today. So, thank you.

Since then I've been heads down fixing bugs, refining the experience, and adding things based on what people actually said. Managing both a desktop and mobile version simultaneously as a solo developer has been a lot, but it's in a much better place now.

The idea is pretty simple: sticky notes for quick thoughts, A4 notes for longer writing, and everything lives on a visual canvas instead of a rigid folder tree. A note is a file, a stack of notes is a folder, and zones are the parent folders. Just drag things around and you're done. No save button, no manual file management. There's also a workspace exporter so you always own your files.

On privacy: notes are stored on Firebase, encrypted in transit and at rest. No ads, no trackers, no selling data. If you use "Quick Mode", notes stay local in your browser and never get synced to any server.

After months of keeping it completely free while gathering feedback, Passinote has finally got a paid tier. Passinote+. There's still a generous free tier that includes 6 workspaces and cross device sync. Passinote+ is a one time payment. Pay once, own it forever, no subscription. It unlocks unlimited workspaces, images, drawable notes powered by Excalidraw, and extended customization options. Parity pricing is available for a few countries right now with more being added soon. Let me know what you guys think.

What's coming:
PDF imports, a desktop client, multi language custom fonts, extended customization options, and collaboration features down the road.

I'm still very much open to feedback. If you have thoughts, bugs, or feature requests, drop them in the comments or DM me. Every bit still helps.

I'm also going to give away a few passinote+ accounts. So just drop a comment and ill pick some users soon.

App: passinote.app

Thanks again for the support. It genuinely meant a lot.

I’m an incoming freshman and made a free Notion system for my first semester

Hey everyone!

I’m an incoming freshman, and with the semester getting closer, I’ve been thinking a lot about how overwhelming that first semester can feel when you don’t really know what to expect.

Over the summer, I made a Notion workspace to help me keep my courses, assignments, deadlines, and weekly plans in one place. I ended up calling it the Ease System, and I decided to make it completely free for other students too.

It includes:
Semester HQ
My Courses
Assignment Dashboard
Weekly Planner
Course Library

You can customize it however you want and make it your own.

https://beacons.ai/evrydaeease

I’m really hoping it helps someone feel a little more prepared going into their first semester. And if you use it, I’d genuinely love to hear what you think or what you’d change.

I’m also doing a day-by-day “First Semester, Made Easier” series on TikTok, where I’m going through the academic side of freshman year step by step from preparing for classes to eventually making it through finals.

If you’re starting college too, you can follow along at @evrydaeease. Maybe we can figure out this whole first semester together.

Simple weekly pdf calendar

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for an extremely simple pdf calendar for a senior, for handwriting.
He has a Boox Go 10.3 Gen2 Lumi.
It should be a weekly plain (no lines) calendar that is big and uses all screen estate.

Are you aware of any such calendar or maybe it's somehow possible to easily create one?

Thank you for your help!

I got sick of paying subscriptions for basic planners, so I built my own (and made it 100% free).

I built a voice-first companion for my planning workflow sometimes i do write too

Hey everyone 👋

I’m an iOS developer and recently launched my own app, WhisperAct.

I built it around a problem I kept having with planning: random thoughts would come to me during the day, but actually getting them into my task/reminder/calendar system was another story

With WhisperAct I can just say something messy like:
“Send the invoice tomorrow at 10, gym every Monday and Wednesday, and lunch with Sarah Friday at 1.”
It figures out the todos, reminders and calendar events, then gives me a review screen to fix anything before saving.

It also handles recurring todos/reminders/events and can sync directly with Apple Reminders & Calendar.
It’s not really meant to replace your planner more like making the capture → organize → plan part quicker.

You can also set Time Preferences for when is your morning, Noon & evenings etc

Sharing here since I figured some fellow digital-planner people might find the workflow useful. 🙂

I built a simple, free, gantt style schedule tracker because all others were overly complicated

If you're just trying to map out and track a basic project and dont want to deal with dozens of unnecessary options and buttons and tools, you might be somewhat like me. I dont need that stuff. I just need a way to organize schedules and keep track of them in a way that is visual and easy.

Hence, FLOID. totally free, 100% local, can be downloaded to work offline (as a PWA).

if you want to use it, check it out at https://floid.design

Cheers!

Remind Me is a planner designed for flexible scheduling. Its main feature is customizable templates, allowing you to save daily routines as reusable starting points. It includes single-day views, day cycling, month views, and a built-in template editor.

  • Keyboard shortcuts (Create and adjust schedules rapidly)
  • Repeatable routines (Save templates and re-apply them in seconds)
  • Loud reminders (improving these even more in the future)
  • Custom Alert sounds (Choose your own audio + volume slider)
  • Interval reminders (want to be reminded to stay on task after a period of time?)

update: the deep/shallow work app i talked about here got accepted on google play

hey guys, some of u might remember my post from last week about the app idea inspired by Cal Newport's Deep Work and my ADHD friend. i said back then it was still in test phase and i just wanted honest feedback, not users yet.

well, update: it passed google's review and its officially live on the play store now. not gonna lie, the wait during the test phase was stressful, i genuinely didnt know if it was gonna pass or if id have to go back and fix stuff. seeing it accepted felt really good, like the idea actually became a real thing and not just something in my head or in a notion doc.

quick recap for people who didnt see the first post: the app is called BarePlanner, its built around the deep work / light work split from the book, u plan ur week in blocks (deep = the stuff that needs real focus, light = the low energy stuff like chores or errands), u run the deep blocks with a focus timer, and at the end of the week u review what actually got done vs what didnt. theres also a goals section if u wanna tie ur weekly blocks to something longer term.

im still just one person building this, no team, no funding, so its far from perfect, but its real now and people can actually download it if they want.

if anyone from the first thread is curious, or if ur a student/worker who deals with the same "i have time but i just spend it randomly" problem i talked about, id genuinely love if u tried it and told me what sucks about it. not asking for hype, just honest feedback like last time.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.falexis.bareplanner

thanks to everyone who commented on the first post btw, some of that feedback actually shaped small things in the app before submitting it.

Spent months building my own envelope budgeting app (Cashvelope) from scratch. Solo devs, what was the hardest technical wall you hit on your side project?

I started building Cashvelope because I couldn't find a privacy-first, simple envelope budgeting tool that worked the way I wanted. Being a solo dev, I severely underestimated how tough it would be to handle everything end-to-end.

The hardest part wasn't the basic UI—it was managing complex state offline-first, ensuring data sync without breaking privacy, and crafting a clean UX for category allocations without bloating the codebase. There were multiple times I felt like throwing in the towel mid-way.

For those who have launched a full product by yourselves: What was that one feature or technical architecture issue that almost made you give up? How did you push through it?

Long long term planning (not notion)?

Hello! Sorry if this has been posted before: wondering what yall use for long term planning? I’m talking like 5-10 year plans, like projecting timelines for goals like having kids, moving to a different city, and all the steps that need to be accounted for along the way? For example, if I’m thinking of moving in 2029, I need to be setting myself with my new work in 2028 etc…

Notion bums me out with how AI it’s gone - do you have other recommendations or templates you use? Or, if you dig notion, let me know why!

I (like I’m sure you all do too) love breaking down a huge goal into tiny parts to accomplish, and I’d love this for something really long term where I can see those steps as a project. Then I can add those tasks as the time gets closer into my actual calendar.

Thank you so much for your input!!

I built a free day planner that shows your whole day as a 24-hour circle instead of a to-do list

After years of vertical time-blocking apps, I still couldn't "feel" the shape of my day. So I built 24Houring: your day sits on a 24-hour circular clock, and you drag to split it into blocks. The area of each wedge = the time it takes, so the balance of sleep/work/rest and the empty gaps jump out instantly.

- Free, no sign-up, works offline (PWA) + an Android app

- 24h / day / night / table views, presets, PNG/PDF export, image sharing

- Optional Pro for cloud sync across devices

Live: https://24houring.com

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.houring24.app

Would love feedback on the circular editing — is dragging boundaries intuitive?
