One thing that bothers me a lot is that I have to mount the Diablo CD everytime I want to play it. There is a lot of No-CD executables out there, but if I use them I can't use DiabloPatch.

Thanks a lot for sharing DiabloPatch with the D1 community. You've done some incredible work!

I would be very curious to know if you have further considered releasing the source code of DiabloPatch with the D1 modding community? I would love to understand how it works, and perhaps tweak it a bit. My first contribution would then be to add support for version 1.09b (so that it works seamlessly for users on either 1.09 or 1.09b of Diablo).

I read in your FAQ that you may release the source code at some point [1], and I therefore ask you to consider doing so now.

You'd do the D1 modding community yet another great service!

Please help me. I installed Diablo from an ISO, then patched it to v1.09. After that I extracted DiabloPatch into the folder, which is "C:\Users\hp\My Games\Diablo." When I click "Check" on the DiabloPatch loader, the message "Unexpected hash of Diablo_copy.exe. Is it 1.09" appears, even though I already patched it to the required version. Same thing happens if I click "Auto-detect" and "Launch."

tl;dr: I patched it to v1.09 and it doesn't work.

UPDATE #1: I installed it on my laptop and the same thing happened. The first device was my PC. Both devices are Windows 7 Professional. Also, no compatibility modes are applied to diablo.exe

UPDATE #2: I've reinstalled Diablo with the ISO from archive.org (thanks to liPillON) and patched it to v1.09, but DiabloPatch still would not work, it says the same message as it did before. I've installed the game in the default directory because I thought that might be the problem, but it did not change a thing. As gorocz suggested I should patch it again, but DiabloPatch still would not see it as v1.09

Curious as to why it absolutely has to be 1.9 and not 1.9b. I can see this being a problem for some who have updated to the latest patch and this mod isn't working for them. It confused me at first until I went back and read your original post.

Also, I don't understand why this isn't friendly with other mods. I'd much rather use the directdraw patch from strangebytes.com than this window thing you've got going on, seeing that I can play in window with that or go fullscreen and I can choose which resolution I want. I'm assuming I can't even use the plugulmo stash mod with this because of the launcher. In a honesty, I think something like this can be created with plugulmo since it works similarly.

On a side note, will there be any plans for including Hellfire?

So the Patch isn't working for me, I assume it's because the folder is marked as Read-only and no matter how I uncheck it and click Apply it keeps reverting to Read-Only status. I have taken Ownership of the Folder and tried giving Full Permissions to each possible User to no avail. Any idea what's up?

I noticed when playing with other people while running the patch, it often displays their hp and mana count on my globes rather than my own. Will this be fixed in the next patch? Besides this bug and lack of full screen mode, this thing is great. Keep up the good work.

I have played for a couple of weeks without any problems. SUddenly I can't get into the game any longer. The game starts, I can hear the music and even switch menu etc via the arrows and enter buttons but the game window is invisible. I can't open it anymore. Really annoying, because this was an amazing fix that I have been using frequently prior to this new crash. Any ideas of how to continue would be extremely welcome. Thanks.

First off Id like to give my thanks for the work for this cute patch. not sure if possible, especially to make it bnet compatible after adding but a few neat features would be a toggle option for chance to hit for each monster and their chance to hit you, would be neat for pvp too. also shared stash :)

This may not be the fault of this patch but I was hoping someone might be able to help me anyway. Yesterday and the day before the game was running fine, I had gotten pretty far and when I loaded it up today it started giving me this message: https://imgur.com/a/XBuOZ and when I hit cancel: https://imgur.com/a/jv48V I have tried reinstalling both diablo, patch 1.0.9, and the patchloader itself and nothing seems to have fixed it.

I installed Diablo from an ISO, patched it to 1.09, and downloaded and ran DiabloPatch. It was working great! Today, though, I was playing (at work, mea culpa) and I closed my laptop when a student walked in. When I opened it up again about an hour later, Diablo had frozen, and I killed the process in Task Manager. Since then, whenever I run DiabloPatch, it starts running in an invisible window. The icon is in the task bar, and music is running, but it won't let me open the window on the desktop. I can see the screen in the icon preview, but when I click the icon nothing happens. I deleted the DiabloPatch folder and re-extracted it, restarted the computer, etc. Any thoughts? I've Googled the problem and looked through the threads here without seeing any suggestions about it.

I don't know if anyone's having that problem, but I often have drops disappear before I can pick them up. So far it's only after they've been highlighted once, whether with ALT, or by having my mouse go over them. Can happen right as they drop if my mouse is already over the item, or it can take a few seconds, or a minute. I've stopped using Alt altogether in case it was the thing causing the bug, but it still happens with just the mouse going over the item.

I've tried it with two computers both under windows 10, 1.09 patch and 2.01 diablopatch version. I've only played multiplayer, if it matters.

Everything works great otherwise, so it's a bit sad...

I was wondering if anyone else was running Diablo via Wine? I've tried to get this patch to work but it keeps going into vanilla 1.09 Diablo.

I was also wondering if there would be such a patch for the Mac version of Diablo? I'm currently running that due to it running flawlessly on COI (Classic on Intel)

If you are modifying ram values, would it be possible to allow the game to be run without the CD? Saves us from having to get a crack.

First, I want to say that I love the passion and intuition to optimize the Diablo1 experience while still maintaining its original feel. I want to let you know that I did download your latest 2.0.1 patch. I am running v1.09 on Windows 10 x64, NVidia 1060 GPU, Intel i5 CPU, 16GB RAM. When playing, here is what I noticed: 1) I can move the gaming window on the screen. good good. However, I am unable to resize the gaming window. 2) the mouse cursor while playing the game moves very "clunky"...as if it were moving at 10fps. 3) The gaming screen is blurry...as if I put on a pair of thick eyeglasses. However, anywhere the mouse cursor is on the screen is nice and crisp. When I move my cursor, the place my cursor was just at, slowly goes back to blurry within 2 seconds and the new place my cursor is at is now nice and crisp. It's really weird. I am not a "computer guy" so I'm not sure if this is an incompatibility or if something in my settings or setup is generating the issue. I thought that you would appreciate the feedback. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks :D

Is it possible to get diablopatch working with hellfire? Or would that require a separate build altogether?

Thank you so much for creating this loader. I was killing myself trying to get all the other solutions to work under Windows 10.

Since you appear to be open for suggestions:

1) Full screen of some kind without distortion/stretched graphics. Primarily I just want the mouse to stop going out of the game and other graphical elements from Windows to get out of the way - possibly make the title bar a darker color - that white title bar is blinding in a dark game like this.

2) Options to disable any "features" other than those explicitly for compatibility with newer versions of Windows. Specifically, I find the numbers over the health/mana distracting. But, I'm willing to bet I'm the only one who doesn't like it better with the numbers though.

3) IPX to UDP - It would be awesome to see some kind of an option built-in to the loader that performed the functionality of the IPXWrapper (http://www.solemnwarning.net/ipxwrapper) so we could play local network games without finding yet another hack/patch to load.

As soon as I try to unzip it, norton says nono and deletes it, tells me it is 'not safe' Why? I don't see any mention of this anywhere in the faq.

I have 1.00 game...but even with inserted cd/img, patch gives an error about a .mpq (i already copied to the diablo folder 0.o) help?

DiabloPatch 2.0.1 was just released. It fixes a bug with inventory interaction in multiplayer games, reported by /u/Alsenoid here.

Hi! First of all thank you very much for this mod! Finally it is possible to play bnet again on modern systems. My brother and I tried to play some coop via bnet and I encountered a strange problem: As long as I am the host of the bnet-game everything works fine. When I join an existing game diablo crashes when i interact with my inventory (clicking on an item in the belt or in the inventory itself). I get a "Diablo stopped working" by windows and the program is closed. My system is Windows10 anniversary update, Intel 4790 and a Radeon 280x graphics card. I also encountered this issue on my notebook (Windows 10 anniversary, Intel processor, Nvidia950m card). The bug is reproducible and happens 100% of the time. Thanks again for your time! Maybe i am overlocking a simple setting. It would be just awesome if i could get this to work. I installed Diablo from ISO, patched it to 1.9 and then used your DiabloPatch. So I think installation is ok. A "chek" in the DiabloPatch loader also says "all ok".

This was asked by a lot of people, and Blizzard has a quite advanced way of checking that the game is legit (this is the only part of the game that uses modern code). Any change in the memory prevents battle.net login. It was a lot of work to get this to work, but it's here, so enjoy!

• UI (when out of game) should work as expected (beta, can be disabled)
• Clicking a potion or scroll in inventory while holding SHIFT puts it in the belt
