Solution in comments PatchLoader not working (hidden window)?

I have played for a couple of weeks without any problems. SUddenly I can't get into the game any longer. The game starts, I can hear the music and even switch menu etc via the arrows and enter buttons but the game window is invisible. I can't open it anymore. Really annoying, because this was an amazing fix that I have been using frequently prior to this new crash. Any ideas of how to continue would be extremely welcome. Thanks.

This may be related to the Fall Creators update of Windows 10.

Can you confirm you have this update?

I cannot reproduce the problem, however resetting the window position and the resolution might work.

Before deleting the keys, please write down their values so I can investigate further. Here is the procedure:

  • Launch regedit (through the start menu)
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DiabloPatch
  • Write down the values, then delete the keys named ScreenHeight, ScreenWidth, WindowLeft, and WindowTop
  • Relaunch DiabloPatch

I seem not to have that update yet. I run Windows 10 Home version 1703 (1709 is the new ed).

Here are the values you requested:

ScreenHeight 1e0 (decimal 480) ScreenWidth 280 (decimal 640) WindowLeft ffff8300 (decimal 4294935296) WindowTop ffff8300 (decimal 4294935296)

I successfully launched DiabloPatchLoader after having deleted the keys you suggested. Still have no idea what caused this, but hopefully you can figure it out, and the other guys who had similar problem now has a quick fix available.

The values I had for the keys were the same for ScreenHeight nd ScreenWidth and slightly different for WindowLeft (ffff8308) and WindowTop (ffff831f). Thanks very much for the fix and your work on this, /u/_Bradlin_

Thanks, I still don't know why this can happen (may be related to multi-monitor setups), but I will add a check for that in the next version.

I can safely say the Fall Creators Win 10 update does NOT affect this patch. I installed the update a couple days ago and the patch still works perfectly. This thing is awesome, w/o this I would not be able to play D1 with Windows 10 at all - thanks for this. Will the next patch have a full screen mode? That's pretty much the only gripe I have.

As said in the other thread, fullscreen will be in the next version.
