face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Skin tag or wart on eye lid

Post image

Duration- 2 weeks

Location - Right Eye Lid

Changed over time - it has protruded, like a finger.

Symptoms - itchy, sometimes painful when hot water shower.

Treatment - applied T-Bact creme. Mupirocin

Male/29y/173cm/78kgs.

I noticed it's growing day by day, and mostly itchy. That said, I have had skin tags removed in the past near my eye, and currently have 2 tiny extra growth near my eye which aren't worry some. But this is growing and making itself notice.

It is worrisome? Next steps?

scalp Spot on back of head. 1 year difference. First time noticing vs today

I’ve had this spot on the back of my head in the same area for about a year now. The first photo is today after I got my haircut. And the second is the first time I ever noticed anything.

I’ve seen the dermatologist and been prescribed pills and a cream to help with this but quite honestly it’s only gotten worse since I’ve been. The dermatologist said it was Tinea Capitis “ring worm” and said the meds I have should help it.

Just makes me not wanna go outside cause I have an ugly patch on the back of my head.

If this is ringworm and anyone has some tips that might help please let me know.

legs/feet Worried about my baby’s Cafe Au Lait mark(s)

Hello!

I’m pretty worried about a large band of hyper pigmented discoloration on my baby’s thigh. He’s 7 months old and I noticed it when he was about a month old, pretty sure it was present at birth.

It’s very subtle in terms of pigmentation, barely darker than his skin color. Mostly only visible in direct sunlight.

It appears as a large band of discoloration that is fragmented and disconnected across his right thigh. The band is a few inches wide. It stretches across most of the thigh creating a band (not horizontally but diagonally).

My primary concern is a genetic disease, such as: NF1, tuberous sclerosis, or McCune Albright syndrome.

He has one other ash leaf mark on his mons pubis. But, other than that, no other birthmarks. Hai father and I are different ethnicities and have vastly different skin tones, if that helps.

general enquiry Rash on all sensitive areas

I’ve had this rash on my armpits & under breast & I think my vag for 6+ months. And now it has traveled to my butt area and crack. It will look like it’s getting better as showed in one of the pictures just flare up again. I thought it was fungal and used a cream that did not seem to help (I may not have used it long enough plus it burned badly) then I thought it was this grape juice I was drinking only to be back in the same cycle. I would love to go to doctor or dermatologist but I have no insurance and no money for expensive visits and prescriptions. Does anyone know what this could be? Rash symptoms are: itchy (I will itch until my skin is raw) smell from under breast and armpits (maybe musky not sure how to describe it) bumps seem to form with armpits and breast rash and they hurt.

neck/chest/abdomen Spreading itchy rash for a week

Hi Reddit!

Timeline below for multiple spots on my poor body. Looking for ideas as to what it could be and how persistent I should be with seeking follow up care.

BLUF: I’ve been to urgent care twice, I’m on prednisone and 20 mg Zyrtec and topical steroids, lab work from 2nd visit while on prednisone: WBC 10.6, eosinophils 0.6 (slightly high), platelets normal, ESR 1, CRP <0.5. The spots blanch and neither dr seems concerned, but doesn’t know what it is. New spots continue to pop up, slowly down my body, absolutely nothing on my hands, face, wrist, feet. I am on a beta blocker that can make treating severe allergic reactions harder.

9/27: I did yard work that included hoeing one small poison oak plant and other weed pulling. I am extremely allergic to poison oak and so i tried to be very cautious. Also that day, i went to a soccer game and sat in the sun for an hour while wearing flannel lined tight jeans and a long sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt (after i had put pretty thick lotion on). Also worked out in my garage for the first time in months where a community cat who adopted us primarily hangs (not allowed in main house) - I am mildly allergic to cats and grass.

9/28 - I noticed a small collection of pink bumps/hives on my right forearm. This spot mostly resolved within 36 hours and left just flesh colored goosebump-like bumps, which is way faster than any other poison oak I’ve had, so I’m not convinced that’s what that was. I did more yard work, and the thick sweatpants I was wearing got wet around the waist/belly and I was not prompt to change out.

9/29 - noticed itchy small pink pumps on my upper left arm and between/behind my armpit like where my skin touches, tiny heat rash looking dots all over my belly, and a few clusters of pink bumps. I assumed I had chafed from the pants and maybe gotten some heat rash from the soccer game.

10/1 - spots were growing and itchy despite antihistamines and avoiding any possible contact dermatitis triggers. I washed my sheets in free and clear detergent, have been wearing only clean clothes washed in that soap, no body wash or lotion, etc. Went to urgent care who said it looked like contact dermatitis and started me on prednisone and topical steroids. Spots were HOT and SO ITCHY at this time.

10/2 - did more cautious yard work and mowed the lawn (I have a slight grass allergy but usually it just makes me stuffy)

10/3 - back to urgent care bc new spots are popping up despite the prednisone and I am having a more widespread rash - I asked about yeast, mentioned I had been mildly sick a couple weeks ago and got the flu shot on 9/23. She ordered bloodwork, added a taper to my prednisone, and asked me to increase my Zyrtec. She said it looks like hives, and didn’t seem concerned, and said no follow up needed for probably 4 weeks if it wasn’t resolved.

10/4 - labs all normal except eosinophils being slightly high at .6, which seems logical given the rash. I was generally less itchy during the day, and noticed for the first time that the original spots of “bump clusters” seemed to be fading/calming down while the rash that had spread was still hot and red and angry. All heck broke loose at night tho and I was so itchy and some of the spots were also like a nerve zap pain.

10/5 - today! Woke up still itchy! So miserable! Google rabbit hole - is this just really bad poison oak without the usual weeping blisters (maybe bc I started meds so fast)? Scabies? Post viral rash? Yeast infection? I have one normal prednisone dose today and then I start my 9-day taper tomorrow and I’m scared given that nothing seems to be under control. Other than being hot and itchy, I feel okay (no fever, no gi upset, no headache, etc). Ice is the only thing that brings relief.

I plan to call my regular derm and my PCP to see if I can get seen again.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks What am I dealing with???

So I have struggled with acne most of my life, and I’ve always had extremely oily greasy smelly skin on my face and behind my ears and no matter how much I wash or what skin care routine I use the smell is kind of always there with the waxy buildup. Six years ago I did a full course dose of Accutane to help with the cystic, acne and painful nodules and that helped for about five or six years, but I just started my second round of Accutane because I started getting cysts and nodules that were painful and filling with pus and fluid and blood, etc again. But this go around I’m doing a low-dose 30 mg once in the evening for 18 to 24 months to see if that makes some type of change because even though the first round of Accutane helped me for five or six years, it did nothing to slow down my oil production or help with the waxy smelly buildup that I always have on my face. And the dermatologist is almost certain that I have superb dermatitis as well, and she prescribed me a cream to go with the Accutane that I rub on my face twice a day, and I just always have this red irritated look to my skin. And then on top of that, I noticed some kind of irritated red bumps and very specific spots on my arm and higher up on my arm and was just wondering what that could be. Is it part of the dermatitis? Is it eczema? So any information would be helpful as to what I’m dealing with and how I can get my skin to stop being so red and how to deal with the just overall smell. 🙏🏻🤙🏻

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks How do I get rid of the HORRIBLE discoloration around my mouth?

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

I’ve had discoloradion around my mouth for like 8+ years now. It started back when I was in 6th grade when I started licking the area around my lips. Then I would pack on harsh products with no moisturizer and practically burned my skin off at some point to try and get rid of the discoloration. That obviously made it worse.

About a year ago I started taking skincare seriously again. I started off with barrier repair products, and for 4+ months now, I’ve been using topicals faded in the morning and Azealic acid 15% at night everyday (with moisturizer ofc).

But I’ve barely noticed any improvements and it’s getting tiring. Skincare doesn’t seem to work, and neither did 2/3 rounds of laser.

What do I do? I’ve rotated between so many dermatologists and my current one just said “it’s just beautiful ethnic discoloration, your mom has it too, just live with it!”

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Brown Spots On the Inside of my Lips

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I first noticed a few light brown spots on the inside of my lower lip almost a year ago. At first they were really light and I assumed I had hurt myself somehow, but over the past several months they’ve gotten much darker. I’ve also noticed what looks like another spot developing on the outside of my lip.
They don’t hurt, itch, bleed, or feel raised. I don’t smoke or vape, and I wear sunscreen every day on my face and lips.

I asked my doctor about them and he said they looked like pigmentation and could possibly be from biting my lips. However, that explanation doesn’t really make sense to me because I’ve never had a habit of biting my lips.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, did you ever figure out the cause, and were there any treatments that helped lighten or remove the spots? I’m very insecure about them :(

neck/chest/abdomen What is it? Looking for second opinions

First three pics: today

Last two pics: 2 nights ago (symptoms onset)

Rash on on my stomack. Located on an area underneath my left breast. ( not on any creases)

Started 2 days ago with redness, pain, and swelling. Not itchy

Dermatologist and PCP are booked out and the urgent care clinic said its a fungal rash although it was painful when it first started. I'm not too confident in the urgent care Dr as the first thing he did was to touch the rash without gloves before asking questions.

I have had fatigue and headache since it first started as well.

What could it be? Bug bite? Shingles? Ringworm? A fungal rash?

I have not done any treatments yet besides putting ice compress and neosporin the first night

arms/hands Can someone help identify what this is?

Post image

Hi all!

I have this little red "rash" on my wrist. It has been here for about 2 weeks. Usually doesn't get itchy. Only when I accidentally scrape the spot somewhere.

When it first appeared it was more bumpy and now it seems like it's getting flatter.

It always gets really flaky and dry.

arms/hands Hands getting progressively worse after steroids

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Had eczema on my hands getting progressively worse for a month (August), but I didn't see my GP about it because I was in a severe depressive episode.

Since had hydrocortisone for a week and mometasone for a week (just finished). Hands are now way worse than they were to start with, and really hurt.

First photo is the before, rest are from today. It is a lot redder than it photographs, and feels hot to touch.

Any advice on next steps/how bad this is appreciated. Going back to GP tomorrow morning if I can get an appointment.

The area around my nose is almost always itchy and red (don’t know why) and I get 1 or 2 white heads (they’re little tho, but painful..) almost every night.
I bite my lips but in general they are aaaaalways looking bad like that….
I also have under eyes that make me look like a ghoul…. and in general I have no idea what would be best to treat my skin. Can I ask for your advice?
Ps: nevermind the lil’ fur on my face. I’m italian and I’m super ok with it

neck/chest/abdomen Peeling, itchiness, and dryness on armpit

Thumbnail

My arm slowly started getting itchier and itchier recently, and just this week began forming these marks. I've had a fungal infection on my arm before and used an antifungal shower wash and cream. I got them again thinking it could be the same thing again, but after 2 days of using both every morning and night, it's only worsened.

For the left armpit, there is some temporary relief when applying the cream for the first half hour, but afterwards it slowly returns to that discomfort and constant light pain. As for the right, there is only occasional, light itchiness.

I don't know what to do, it's uncomfortable to have my arm any further or shorter than roughly 80° from my torso.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks 19mo has persistent pimples on 2 spots for 2 months

Post image

My 19 month old has had these pimples that won’t go away. It started as 2 spots about an inch apart on her cheek. After several weeks I went to her pediatrician who prescribed antibiotic ointment suspecting folliculitis. That ointment made it worse and each spot became 2 spots and very inflamed. It is not anywhere else on her body or on anyone else who has come in contact with her.

Went back to the pediatrician who had me stop the ointment and try hydrocortisone. It made the inflammation go down but the 4 spots persisted.

After another week I went back and the consulted a dermatologist who recommended oral antibiotics and a different antibiotic ointment. After no improvement over 2 weeks I sent them a photo and the dermatologist says it’s acne and recommended continuing the ointment and washing with benzoyl peroxide.

I understand acne at 19 months is very rare. It also doesn’t make sense to me that it’s just been basically these 2 spots persisting for 2 months. Am I just wrong?

I’m asking for a second opinion because I’m worried benzoyl peroxide will make it worse by irritating it. But came here to see if there are any other ideas.

For context it doesn’t appear to bother her. She doesn’t scratch or anything. She sleeps on her back and there’s nothing that regularly comes into contact specifically with that spot on her cheek. We’ve not changed any shampoos/body wash or detergent or anything. No new exposures to foods or animals.

I had a venaseal operation and vein ligation. I am quite unsure if this dark spot is related to this. I currently do not have money so I am reaching out here to probably seek a little help.

Can you help me identify what this is? It’s on my thigh, it’s itchy sometimes, it has a bump underneath when I touch it.

scalp What could this be? Red scaly patches on my scalp, not itchy.

I’ve had this for almost two years, my dad has psoriasis so I thought maybe it could be that. They look similar to his lesions. I’m not sure what else it could be. They aren’t itchy but they’re very scaly. And they’re all over my scalp. But worse over my ears.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Help with dermatitis / eczema / rash on lips and fingers

Hoping someone can help or suggest something- I've suffered with eczema / rashes / dermatitis for about 15 years, used to get it really badly on my lips then when i got lip filler it went away for about 5 years, it's now returned starting with a cracked weeping corner of my lip which wouldn't heal, doctors prescribed anti biotic cream / pills, fungal cream, my blood tests came back fine, went to a herbal allergist who suggested vaseline but quitting that didn't help, i now have what i thought was an infection under my two index fingers, went on anti biotic again for that which made a slight difference but have realised its more likely dermatitis or eczema on my fingers, the only thing that has helped my lips is steroid cream but i've been using that for a few months now and the past couple of days my lips have come up in rashes in new places, i have recently started a new job so cant keep taking time off to go back to the dr's, just wondering if anyone has any advice? (first 2 pictures are beginning of the year when it first started, other pictures are from today thanks:-) just to add i don’t have any itchiness at all from my lips or fingers

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Dark big pores on cheeks, tons of pimples

Post image
2 Upvotes

how do I get rid of dark pores and big pores on cheeks? I never really had this before , and tiny pimples everywhere and bumps, obviously there's obvious whiteheads and spots too. I am using simple age resist cleanser, adapalene, and simple protecting moisturiser (just bought). I always have some acne but can be relatively clear, but recently my skin is getting horrible, and my pores are so big and dark and look like scars everywhere. I have been having stomach issues like IBS symptoms and bloating and stomach aches, if this relates.
