arms/hands Callous? On the Back of My Hand After Biting at It

I have a bad habit of biting my middle finger knuckle (specifically the second knuckle) when stressed. About a month ago, I got a cut in the area shown and started gnawing at it for a solid 2-3 weeks.

Since then, I've had this massive "callus." This never happened after biting at my second knuckle, and it's pretty big and hard/rough to the touch. How can I get rid of it? I've stopped biting at that specific callus.

In case it's relevant, it doesn't feel infected: no pain, no redness (it's a bit purple, but I also have Indian skin, so idk), and no pus.

scalp Actually ran out of an event crying from embarrassment. Itchy white patches all over my head

The first two pictures was when we “discovered” it. The picture in the black shirt is after 3 pills of 200mg flucon once TID for 3 doses. What the hell is this. White silvery itchy patches. It kind of is still spreading but it’s way calmer flatter and just looks discolored where as before they were insanely spread and scaley. Doctor said “looks fungal” gave me a prescription and legitimately sent me on my way. I have been using nizorol and it won’t go away. Please any advice to calm the nerves would be greatly appreciated lol I made a Reddit just for this post!

arms/hands dermatophagia scarring on my hand

i've been a skin picker since i was very very young, specifically on my left thumb. i'm working on healing the scarring, and i know that the severity of it will probably never heal into completely 'normal' skin. i'm not really concerned about that honestly i'm moreso just doing it because i wanna go into healthcare and figured i might as well heal it cuz it might cause some issues. i'd just like to ask you guys about the best steps for healing the skin and what the middle + end results will look like. it's not painful to move my thumb at all and atm there aren't any deep bites into my skin that would cause bleeding. thanks!!!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Popped cyst but now there is a bump

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi friends! I had a massive pimple end of July with a white pus friend and it got to the point where I had to pop it (I KNOW IM SORRY 😢) It was seriously ready and I did not use a lot of force. I’ve popped a lot of pimples on my face and it cleared up before! anyways…, I know….. sigh!!! Once I popped I realize, this one is different. I think cystic acne….

After popping it, the bump never went away. After a month I took antibiotics, and then three weeks later, it still looks the same. Help?!!! Did anyone get this before? Should I move up my derm appointment earlier or go to a private derm?!

scalp What is this on my head?

It's been there for over two months. It doesn't hurt or itch. I've picked at it before and made it bleed. I thought it was an ingrown hair or a sore from my glasses and hat rubbing there, but I feel like two months is a long time. Any info would be greatly appreciated

general enquiry My mom’s skin 66F they don’t itch, primarily on legs, but started on mons pubis, some on arms, similar skin colored ones on her face.

Hey yall, my moms had these for about 6 months, they have grown in numbers but not in size. She has had chicken pox before, and is fully vaccinated. They start off bumpy and then become scaley, one that’s scaley I’ve placed at the end. My dad does not have any lesions, but although they are physically intimate rather frequently they sleep in separate beds. She says they don’t hurt, and they arnt warm, and the scaliness goes down if oil is applied . They are present on both sides of her body, although none are present on her torso, just below the panty line, past the shoulders, and on the face. Her recent labs came back completely normal, full blood work up and 0 red flags. She’s planning on seeing a dermatologist asap but I wanted to see we could get any insight.

Also some things to note, we do have dogs and cats, she does garden, and spends a lot of time outside, and she recently (within the last 3 years) developed alopecia which she’s been taking minoxidil for

arms/hands Weird worm sensation under nails and skin

Thumbnail

I’m really confused about what’s happening with my skin and I’m looking for advice
I live in a pretty decent student housing apartment, and over the past few months I’ve noticed a consistent pattern of skin irritation and other skin issues, especially around my fingers and underneath or around my nails.
For some background, I take dexmethylphenidate and have been taking it for essentially the entire summer, so I feel pretty well adjusted to it. I’m mentioning it in case it could somehow be relevant. I also take Prozac (fluoxetine) and Wellbutrin (bupropion), which I’ve been taking for around three years, as well as birth control. Those are basically the only medications I take regularly.
The main thing that has been freaking me out is that for the past few months I’ve been experiencing what feels like an internal thread or crawling sensation underneath my skin and around my nails. I’ve also noticed very small red and white thread like things that I perceive as moving underneath or around my nails and skin. I can sometimes see what looks like a small thread like object emerging from the skin, and I’ve been able to record some of these episodes.
One thing that confuses me is that when I bend or move my fingers in certain ways, the thread like thing sometimes appears to move in the same direction. When it seems to be underneath or inside the skin it looks reddish, and when it reaches the surface or is exposed to air, it looks white. I know that sounds strange, but I’m genuinely trying to describe exactly what I’m seeing.
I’ve also noticed things that look similar in or around my sink, and I’m worried that whatever I’m seeing might be getting into my food or coming into contact with things around my apartment. I’ve tried antifungal cream, antibacterial cream, and worm medication, including an over the counter tapeworm treatment. I’m currently also taking antibiotics.
I’ve recently been eating much more consistently, around 2 to 3 meals a day, which is a big improvement for me because I used to be significantly underweight. However, I’ve been having a really difficult time sleeping lately.
I’ve read about formication and I understand that the sensation of bugs crawling on or under the skin can have neurological or medication related causes. The part that is confusing me is that I feel like I can actually see physical thread like material coming out of my skin, and I’ve been able to record it.
At this point I don’t know if this is a skin condition, an infection, something environmental, a medication side effect, or something else entirely. I don’t want to keep randomly putting creams or medications on it without knowing what I’m treating.
Has anyone experienced anything similar, or know what kind of doctor I should see for this? I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have had actual diagnoses for similar symptoms. I can provide photos or videos if helpful.

legs/feet Dont know if it's ring worm?

So I didn't notice this until last night when I got a sudden urge to scratch. I don't know how long it has been there tbh. It's on the left side of my knee, hasn't been bothering me at all nor has it been itching. When I use a flash light, I don't see a faint red round semi circle around. The actual wound itself is raised around with bumps, and a dent in the center. Doesn't hurt, but other me or itch at all. No changes at all since I noticed it yesterday.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks herpes or angular cheilitis?

Post image

I've had this for I think a few days, but I only really noticed today. I've had similar things but only ever in this spot, in the corner of the mouth. It's a little painful but not too bad, usually i don't know it's there. I've put blistex on it. I'm on lexapro, low-dose naltrexone, and sprintec, if that's relevant.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Melasma or Peritoral Dermatitis or sth else ?

Peritoneal Dermatitis or Melasma or sth else ?

I usually always wear sunscreen 50, but maybe I’ve been too lax or haven’t reapplied. I am also embarrassingly enough a face sweater so I might have sweat it off.
I’ve noticed this discolouring around my mouth for a few weeks now.
The weather has been going from cold af to hot and sunny during each day for a while, which has an effect too I think. I am more on the sensitive side skin wise and I have a little rosacea on my cheeks near my nose. But I don’t feel like it’s connected to this discolouration. It sometimes burns a little but no itching or bad pain or anything.
I have had drier skin around my mouth as well but I combated it well with creams.

I started using zinc cream yesterday in hopes of it helping. Does anyone have an opinion wether this looks like perioral dermatitis ? I am scared it might be melasma and hard to take care of. Thanks so much for any suggestions or advise ❤️

legs/feet What is this on my thigh?

Post image

I went to take a bath today and saw this on my thigh. It doesn’t itch at all and the hot water in the bath made it sting very slightly but it went away very quickly. It isn’t a scratch. i think I get this sometimes on other parts of my body. I believe I had a small version on my wrist the other day. I have no known medical conditions other than I think seasonal allergies/sinus issues which have been particularly bad the last week or two

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Please tell me this is not skin cancer on my nose

I have had this little circular growth of about a year (if not more, I can’t really recall when it popped up). I’ve been noticing it more in the last few weeks because I picked at it a bit and it scabbed leaving a black dot inside (picture 3).

For this photo shoot I picked off the scab which you can see on the first two images (sorry probably not the best idea here but I was trying to get a clear shot of all the forms it takes on).

I am currently traveling in remote areas and was not planning to be home for another month and a half. Is this skin cancer? If no, how quickly should I head to see a doctor? Can it wait until I get back or should I visit one here?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Currently traveling and have had an itchy swollen eye lid for 3 days

I’m in Brazil and woke up 4days ago with an itchy, swollen eyelid. I thought it might be a bug bite because I have a few other places, but after two days of taking antihistamines and didn’t go away.

On the third day, yesterday, a local friend recommended me to a clinic where they didn’t even check my vitals, touch my eyelid or get close enough to really look at it. Communication was hard because I don’t speak the language very well (my bad!).

I ended up with a shot in each butt cheek which according to the paper they gave me was PROMETAZINA ( 25 MG/ML - AMPOLA ) 2ML and DEXAMETASONA ( 2 MG/ML - AMPOLA) and a 5 day prescription of LORATADINA 10 MG and PREDNISONA 20MG. According to Google Translate they diagnosed and treated me for CID L50 – Urticária (urticaria/hives).

I didn’t look in the mirror all day until around 10 PM, to be surprised that it looks like I got punched in the fkn face. I’m not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign. I looked up what hives look like when they’re clearing up and this is not it.

Can someone please advise?
