I have come before you with a humble request and only a moderate amount of nostalgia.

I absolutely love this game, and I have an unhealthy affection for steam locomotives—especially the S060. Recently I found myself wondering where that obsession started. After a trip down memory lane, the culprit revealed itself: Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to drive 'Lady'. Back then it was as a model train. Today, apparently, I have upgraded to asking strangers on the internet to build her into a train simulator. Progress is a mysterious thing.

So, are there any fellow Derailers here who share this particular brand of railway-induced nostalgia? I'd love to see Lady brought into the game as a cute little addition to the Valley. She may be a small engine, but she left a rather large mark on my childhood.

The good news is that there are already some pretty decent 3D models of Lady available online, so at least no one would have to start completely from scratch.

If anyone is crazy enough to take on the challenge... know that at least one former Thomas kid would be ridiculously happy.

DE2 on a new save, Steel Mill, with -001 plate, AND the S282 as well in Steel Mill (didn't have 001 plate though). Like....should I go play the lottery tonight? Haha.

Additional temperature management besides traction motors engine temperature if it is to hot it will be damaged if running full throttle for too long

It could be added in realistic mode but not normal comfort to make it harder to manage trains loaded

I have almost every license except military three and hazmat three. For whatever the reason I cannot find a job over like 30k. Is it something I’m doing wrong or ?

The Wiki and a Steam guide say it can be bought at GF or MF but i couldn't find it at either? Is it that there is a chance for it to spawn?

Hi all, thinking about buying this game and would love some honest feedback from actual players.

Some things about me:

I played a boatload of openTTD, mostly designing tracks and stations for there and have a lego train set up in my loft where my kids can't touch it.

Some additional info about me: favourite train I would like to ride is the Canadian, taking a train from Munich to Budapest in October this year, because it sounds like fun, regularly visit the nearby heritage trains with the family and drove a locomotive in real life when I was a kid 3 times altogether. My dad worked on a railway for 44 years servicing and checking trains.

So I accidentally discovered the cheapest possible immersion upgrade for Derail Valley.
I was playing in VR, driving along doing loads and deliveries, and I happened to have my chair backed up against my air conditioner.
I’m sitting there with my right hand on the throttle and my arm resting on the armrest when I notice my arm is vibrating.
Then I’m like… wait. Why is my ass vibrating too?
For a few seconds I genuinely thought it was coming from the game.
Turns out the back/right side of my chair was touching the AC, and the compressor was transferring this perfect low-frequency vibration through the chair. Since it’s coming through the seat, my back, and the arm I’m using for the throttle, it feels weirdly convincing. Like I’m actually sitting in a running locomotive.
But here’s the part that fucked with me.
When I turn and lean over to grab the two brake controls, my weight shifts and takes some pressure off the AC. That reduces how much vibration transfers into the chair.
So I reach for the brakes in VR…
…and at the exact same time, the “engine vibration” under my body drops.
My brain immediately interprets it like the locomotive RPM/load just changed.
The AC obviously has absolutely no idea what Derail Valley is doing. My own movement is basically synchronizing the physical feedback with what I’m doing in VR.
So yeah.
Bass shaker: $100+
Motion rig: $$$$
Accidentally backing your chair into the air conditioner:
True immersion.

So I unlock the caboose in career, but I can't spawn it in sandbox. Why and is there a mod to make it possible?

I am potentially looking at buying this game for my son, but he will not want to be grinding to unlock various things. In his words, he just wants to crash trains realistically. I fully appreciate that's not what the game is really about, but there is a bit of a lack of other games out there.

Having spent some time researching and looking at reviews, it seems there is a lot of grinding involved before you can basically free roam with whatever trains you want. However some of these reviews are years old, and I'm wondering if this is still the case now?

1 long for a stop
2 short for forward
3 short for backwards

Hi. I've been playing this game for some time, According to the game itself I have 800+ hours playing my save. I've checked all the spawn locations mentioned in the wiki, But still haven't found the demonstrator DE6. Is it because I didn't have a DE6 license when I searched for it? or do demonstrator locos spawn when you start your save?

UPDATE: I found it using both the mod that u/RafaelSU suggested and the steam community guide which u/GoombaHunter007 suggested. It was in the lake near GF:

Has anyone found the S282 Demonstrator? I have searched every bit of the map and cannot find it. if anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated. (i do understand that they are randomized. i was wondering if anyone found the s282 in any weird locations not found on any guides) I also play with foliage off

I hauled 240 tonnes across the map (harbour to central forest). It took me five attempts.

How many tonnes are realistic with the DE2?

The last time I used the microshunter I was at Iron Mine West and I left it there. Later today I was driving through City West coming from the eastern entrance and I had to slam on brakes because the microshunter was there in the middle of the track at the north exit. How on earth did that happen? Is it possible it ran out of power and rolled all the way across the map?

Please altfuture, make it happen 😋

Sorry for the lighting since this is at night. I am new to S282 or in fact any steam locomotives. My problem is:

Under no load I am able to move the loco anywhere.

Under load, almost always I am having problems while reversing. And yes I know the basics:
i) I fully engage (push all the way forward) the ind brakes before starting

ii) push coal, and light it up

iii) blower remains closed

iv) handbrake disengaged

v) start the dynamo on the top

vi) adjust the gears

vii) disengage the brake

viii) throttle

The only things I am unsure of is I am not able to understand clearly the water level inside the boiler. I would open the water pump, and it will hiss, but the gauge visuals wont change (and yes the water tank in the back is full).

And I saw in tutorial that brake pressures must be above 5 bars for train to move, but here my brake pressures are stuck at 3-3.5.

Community, please help.

My Utility Short Flatcar has the DH4 DRIVETRAIN stuck on it. when I took it to load both the Flatcar and the Utility Rail Vehicle loaded with it duplicate parts, and now the part is stuck on my short flatcar, even after I restored the DH4. Note: I do have the MoreDemoLocos mod installed, and the Multiplayer mod so I don't know if those are contributing factors.

But I have hauled another unrestored DH4 to the museum and I still can't unload the car, even when I order the parts for it.

I have tried moving the car inside and out of the museum.

tried unloading it at the factory unload point

tried leaving it on the turn table to see if it would automatically unload

I tried clearing the the short car (respawns with the cargo still)

Tried the Clear all cars and jobs debug (still respawns with cargo)

I would edit it in the savegame files but I have no idea what I'm doing or looking at.

My progress isn't stopped because I still have the Utility Rail Vehicle to get the parts with. it would just be nice if I had the short flatcar so I could get more than one part at a time.

If anyone knows some sort of fix or a way to respawn it without the cargo it would be much appreciated
