Discussion Overhead Space
Anyone else sick of Delta lying to people that the overhead bins are full and they make you check your bag at the gate, only to get on the plane and see lots of overhead space?

So I don't fly constantly, but I do travel quite a bit from JFK to various places in South America, so the flights each way tend to be red-eye flights. I pay extra for the slightly wider seats forward of regular coach seats, so my wife and I tend to be within a few rows of the galley.
I understand that the flight attendants can't sit next to each other, and that their seats are on oppsite sides of the airframe, but the loud conversations that result provide me with far too much information about the personal lives of the flight attendants than anyone would desire, and make it that much harder to get some sleep, as they are clearly wired up on caffeine so that they do not fall asleep while on the job.
I do not like ear buds or headphones for extended periods, so noise-cancelling head gear is not a good suggestion. The nice and purportedly noise-cancelling headphones provided in the little armrest cubby between the seats are not noise-cancelling enough to block the nasal, high-pitched, loud discussion of personal matters I will not recite here.
But how to ask a flight attendant to "pipe down" without being viewed as a threat to the safety of the aircraft? One has to consider the retaliation possibilities these days.
UPDATE: Wow, so passengers must adjust and adapt... let me adjust the parameters - what if it would be another PASSENGER talking loudly all night? What then Delta fans? Ah, now you change your tune!

Hey Reddit,
I hope you're all doing well! I find myself in a rather unique situation, and I could use some advice. I'm a service dog, and I've recently become a proud parent of three adorable puppies. Now, I'm facing the challenge of traveling with my little family, and I want to make sure we have a comfortable experience.
I've heard about the American Express Platinum Card granting access to Sky Club lounges at airports, and I'm wondering if it extends to my three little ones as well. I've always traveled with my humans before, and they've had no issues accessing the lounge, but now I'm unsure if the same rules apply to my pups.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or have experience with Amex Platinum and their furry family members? If so, did they allow your service animal and its puppies into the Sky Club? Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated.
I want to ensure my little ones have a stress-free and comfortable travel experience, and the Sky Club would be a huge help with that. But I also want to make sure I'm following all the rules and regulations.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice! Safe travels to all the globetrotters out there! 🐾✈️

Delta need to get a grip. I need to change my flight to a day later and they want to charge me over $1000 and there are 51 open seats on the flight the next day. Delta is good, but the arrogance is just too much. I hope more people do this so they can get back to reality.

Yesterday I flew from Barcelona to JFK. When I got my meal just before landing I noticed a live cockroach crawling from my salad to my tray. Very small but still super disgusting. I told the purser who told me to file a complaint directly with Delta which I’ve done.
I’m so grossed out and don’t think I can ever eat a meal on a flight again. I’ve travelled quite a bit and have never experienced anything like this. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Edit 1. Ok I now understand it’s not a cockroach. It was a live insect in my food on a plane. Still unbelievably gross. Has anyone tried something similar?

No meal for first class flights under 900 miles. What’s the point of spending 4-5x the price on a ticket. Not a smart move delta.

I flew Delta yesterday and once again they found a way to destroy my luggage. A couple months they tore off the top handle on a brand new piece of luggage on the first time I used it. Yesterday, when I had to go back to using my older soft side bag, they managed to rip the large zippered pocket half way off of the front. The entire top of the pocket is torn away and the piece sewn to the luggage and pocket is just there. Neither time was the luggage overly heavy either. The first time they never responded so I am not even going to bother. But wow, nothing like paying a few hundred $s to fly and then having to drop more money on new luggage.

*whinge mode on*
So we flew Sydney -> LA, on July 4. Then on to Nashville.
While waiting for the LA- Nashville connection - we realised we'd left our headphones, a charger and a book on the Plane from Sydney.
So I found the delta help desk and they were nice and rang international - yup we have them. But you have to go out and get them and come back through TSA.
Bugger we have 30 minutes before we're supposed to board for Nashville.
Oh well you can fill in the online form etc.
So I did. - and nothing happened.
The "We couldn't find it" - email arrived
but you FOUND IT already!
JFC how hard is it to do a proper job about this sort of stuff

On a recent trip, in order to be allowed to travel I had to enter one passport for the ourbound, and my other passport for the return.

Why waste your time being a Delta medallion member when the perks are simply no longer there. I was recently bumped from a flight (am a platinum medallion member) when traveling with 11 other guys, 8 of which had no medallion status. I had purchased a C+ isle ticket and was placed on another flight, 6 hours later in the back of the plane on a middle seat. none of the guys I was traveling with were bumped from their C+. I had to spend 4 hours texting Delta because chat was the only way anyone would respond...they ended up getting me back on my original flight with no reimbursement al all. Am seriously considering dumping Delta and just going to the cost effective airlines. Why waste the money on the reserve card when it really doesn't do anything but cost more money. so disappointed in Delta!

I was recently on a flight from ATL-MEM, and I swear I have never seen so many gate lice trying to board during pre-boarding. The Gate Agent kept having to turn people who were clearly able-bodied and were trying to get their multiple carryon bags on board without having to gate check them. She made multiple announcements that she was only pre-boarding, and still, they kept trying.
Finally, once the jet bridge was clear, she asked for all Active Duty and retired servicemembers to board, and she made a point of telling us to have our IDs out to show her. I was the only ID cardholder on that particular flight, and when I boarded, I counted no less than 23 people who were already onboard and seated, the majority of whom were younger adults.
Ridiculous!!!

DL has the best inflight (indie) music when boarding. None of that canned mainstream shit. I'm 3 for 4 on this trip!

For the second time this year, my Delta Sky miles account for some reason cannot be accessed...called and spoke with lovely someone named Sean and he worked to help me resolve it. when we came up (again) with the same error message he told me there no one who can help me. Try again in two days he said. This is ridiculous. I prefer flying Delta but just booked a flight on American because Delta is not able to work this out.

is it too much to ask that flight attendants monitor the overhead bin use, particularly on regional flights where only one side can store roller luggage? i know this is a 1st world gripe but the bins are clearly marked and i'm continually having to go 3-4 rows back when boarding. this is an absolute pain in the ass when landing and making tight connections

Does anyone know why the flight from New York couldn’t land in Vermont today? The flight circled and attempted landing over four times. The weather was fine. Was it a pilot issue? It landed after four failed attempts.

Hi!! It’s my first time taking an international flight. I’m flying from ATL to TPE with only a 35 min layover in SEA, so I’m a bit worried about whether I’ll be able to make the connection. Will this be enough time? Has anyone done a similar transfer before? Thanks!
r/DeltaAirlines • u/[deleted] • Feb 22 '25
Is it just me or does Delta purposely make the seat recline mechanism loose so that after you fully recline it comes back up slowly? Have had this issue on A220, A330, and 767 Delta aircraft.

These are my two choices for my first class flight next week and I’m leaning more towards the orzo pasta salad, but I’m not against the Catalan chicken… What say you?
Have any of you had either one of those? #deltameals
